  3. Aaaw, wow! Thank you for those kind words and I'm glad I could be of help 👍 Does that mean you can say "truss rod adjustment" without breaking out in a sweat? 🤣🤣
  4. These are great amps. EBS sent me one a few years ago which I gave back once I left to use Hartke. Very loud and portable for what they are, used it on a number of occasions where I didn't want to take my big amp.
  5. I’ve done a fair number of deps over the years, and enjoyed pretty much all of them. I enjoy the challenge of playing songs I maybe haven’t done before, along with musicians I maybe haven’t pleased with before too. I always check them out before taking the gig, to make sure there’s nothing I can’t play ( slap, modern jazz etc! ). My advanced years mean I’m familiar with a lot of old stuff, but not as much of the recent stuff - usually gigs where I’m depping do tend to centre around my skill set though, so no surprises. I always turn up on time / help with setting up / don’t play too loud. I’m also okay doing BVs on the fly so that helps get gigs. ( I also check that the fee is realistic and whether there’s any food, plus cash on the night 😄 ). My last dep was with a soul / ska band I’ve never played with, in someone’s back garden for a birthday party. Plenty of Madness / Bad Manners / Otis Redding etc, and I’ve been offered another gig already. Next dep is a week on Saturday with some mates at a great local music pub, so looking forward to that one.
  6. I wouldn't be happy with that. I would expect all details to be supplied as soon as I'm confirmed on the gig. The shortest notice I've experienced was 2 hours. I was in the first band on at a festival and a band who I know rang and asked if I could dep. They were 3rd band on. That’s not quite the same as I play with these guys a lot, but I hadn't played with them for a couple of months. They were happy, but I noticed the lack of prep!
  7. I would be interested if you could ship to Suffolk
  8. Anyone need a PA amp? Usual excellent Crown quality, this amp has only had light use and comes in a Chord carry bag. Not sure what the total weight is, but the amp on its own is under 4kg, so very portable XLR inputs, Speakon outputs for most users, plus various other options as per photos As well as standard Stereo, the amp can be configured as follows: Crossover Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on Channel 1 and a HighPass Filter on Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. LowPass Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=LPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 1 at the frequency chosen. HighPass Mode (CH1=HPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a HighPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. You can also put it into 'Bridge' mode for seriously high levels of output (according to the spec 1.5kW into 4ohm) Pickup from Uxbridge area, or I'll courier to you at cost.

  9. Small cab, lightweight, but as discussed on many posts, produces a surprisingly big sound for a 10" 200W speaker (8 ohms) Some tolex peel/shrinkage, mostly visible on the back, but otherwise sound This version has the fabric front, so marginally lighter (6.7kg) than the one with the metal grille Roqsolid cover is as new Pickup preferred but I can courier this at cost if necessary

  11. Statistics are squirrelly little bastards with lots of squirrelly bastard friends. Your data is the last two orders from Thomman got messed up. Now you will get more data on the messed up orders. This is no way to assess the true proportion of messed up orders. A better question would be, how well was your last Thomman order completed? You still get confirmation bias but at least you aren't tee'ing it up.
  12. Agreed, just watched it. Keith Scott is a superb player, everything in the right place and tones to die for. No slouch at 71 either! Bryan was pretty good too. Didn’t drop a note as far as I could tell, his voice as strong as ever. Didn't quite understand what was going on when he swapped his Precision for guitar though? Watching on a small TV I couldn’t tell what happened to the bass - was it keys or on track? Always preferred Bryan playing guitar anyway to be honest, when he had a regular bassist.
  13. Meant to post sooner. Mike was awesome and invited my to his house to teach me how to actually setup my basses - including stuff that scared the bejesus. Super patient and amazing. I’m now rocking what he taught me on my other basses. Brilliant dude, great coffee and great craic.
  14. I’ve put the recently arrived OC-5 on this board I will be spending some time with this pedal.

  16. Just noticed thats the original EMG preamp encapsulated module. Very nice indeed and far better sounding than the MEC preamp from later models. The sticker label on the bridge pick up looks like it says a Stage 1 Streamer pick up. I believe the streamer and Thumb basses had the same pick ups. Mine is the 89 model with EMG's but doesn't have the sticker label. WOW someone really needs to buy this as its one heck off a bass to play with one of the best necks i've ever played. Dave
  17. No problem, just dropped you a personal message 👍 Cheers Freddie
  18. I've depped loads over the years but usually for bands that had mates in and that I'd seen play on occasion. I've never been a pro musician, I was, in my opinion, never good enough for that so, I'd agree to play just to get their problem sorted and then happily take whatever money they offered me after the gig. Takes a lot of pressure off when you don't need the money for a mortgage or food. It was mainly classic rock or Blues so I had the advantage of being relatively old as I'd either played, or was just familiar with 95% of the material. I loved it. A real buzz for me depping. Had a few Blues deps where no setlist was provided, not even on the night. Vocalist would just shout the next number and guitarist would give me the nod for the key and hope the drummer would signal any stops. Loved it.
  19. He's seems to be seen as uncool by some, but he is brilliant live. Keith Scott, his guitarist, is pretty darn good.
  20. Sadowsky Black Flats - definitely LaBella made them New Sadowsky Blue Flats - I don’t know… I have only 1 Bass with them so I’m not sure- they have a GHS Precision Flats vibe feel sort of 😂😂😂
  21. I’ll take this please @ash if it’s still available. I’ve got a Basschat 8 cabinet that @Phil Starr made for me that needs building 😀
  22. Bump for a couple of great cabs, happy to separate or do a little deal for both… jonny
  23. I did a gig in about 2000/2002 where I'd been recommended to cover. Couldn't get hold of the band leader, texted, phoned and left messages. He eventually called me the day before the gig. Said - it's all standards, dress smart/casual, venue is... I turned up, he said Stick to the roots, nothing flash, watch the rhythm guitarist for the changes. I spent the next 3 hours playing songs I'd never heard before, trying to work out what the rhythm guitarist was playing - not helped by the fact he was facing away from me further not helped by not having had any sleep for months due to having a new born with colic. 🤣 But yes, at least getting a set list the morning of the gig gives you a chance to at least listen to the songs, but that's not always an advantage based on the "But we do our own version" prolification of bands around.
  24. If you want it to look dangerous you should make a feature of the symbol, perhaps on the headstock, and have it backlit with a slowly pulsing U/V led. The example below is the wrong colour and the pulse rate is a little too quick but it gives you the gist of what I have in my mind's eye.
  25. With orders coming in thick and fast and companies bending (their employees) over backwards to deliver your order the very same day or sooner, it's bound to happen. The thing is how they deal with it. They once sent me my order of 4-5 small to medium sized items, and everything was there, except there was also a 4 pack of Vic Firth drumsticks. Maybe one of the staff was just feeling generous. [insert Oprah Winfrey meme "and YOU get drumsticks, and YOU get drumsticks!.."]
