  1. Past hour
  2. Less of the "we" there - I got flamed and sworn at here for saying Limelights are counterfeits.
  3. I don’t know the physics of this but years ago I used to think bigger fatter strings would give me more bass but I don’t think this is the case , I went through so many different ones trying to find the right ones for me, I only use 2 now which are labella LTF’s and labella 760FL , I wouldn’t say I got a stronger sound from the heavier gauge ones just a different sound, I play with a very light touch and never dig in, the hardest ones I found were the Jamerson flats, nice sound but pretty high tension, try as many different ones as you can and you’ll find the right ones for you
  4. What are you playing now?
  5. Blowin' In The Wind - Bob Dylan
  6. I’ve got a beautiful Epiphone Thunderbird 4 pro. It came with a Gibson TRC fitted. I’m funked if I could be bothered to source an Epiphone TRC just so I’m not playing a counterfeit. Anyhoo, it’s such a good bass I can’t believe an original Gibson would be any better. I’ll play it out live and anyone who’s got a problem with it can mind their own business. By the same token the last gig I did was in Sweden and I took a first generation Squier CV Jazz with its original logo. Again, if anyone has a problem with me playing a Squier (which is a better bass than some Fenders I’ve played) again, they can mind their own business! Ahh the beauty of getting older is definitely not giving so much of a funk! I would obviously have a problem with someone trying to pass something off as something it’s not. That is clearly wrong - most of us on here would practice due diligence in the transaction but I guess someone starting out could be taken in. Have a groovy Sunday folks!
  7. This is a bargain at this price, folks! Fighting the urge to buy it back.
  8. The Storm - Flying Colours
  9. As proven at the last em bass bash, I can fit: A 4/4 double bass, two electric basses and 450W of amplification In a (manual) Skoda Citigo 😁. no drummer tho....
  10. Basic laminate bass. Very shallow body. Likely to be short on tone, sustain and projection. Still, some of those 1960s east European factory basses are quite decent. Especially if youre going to use a pickup. I'd say make sure to play it first, but for £275....just buy it and see. Bear in mind that new strings will be £200+, a new bridge similar (tho it looks to have a good and well fitted one), and the cost of repairing any internal rattles will be way more than the value of the bass. But being plywood, it's likely just fine in that respect.
  11. Best of luck Steve. Hope it goes well
  12. The newer ones, like my old one are the Electra 2 VS4 without the push/pull
  13. Something a bit more up to date today - this one is only 24 years old - this is my interpretation of the complete Justin Chancellor bass part to the tne Schism from the 2001 Tool album, 'Lateralus'. I only heard this for the first time yesterday and love the bass hook that opens the track. Had to get it down. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/schism-tool/
  14. Messaged Brian.
  15. Price drop: £115 No I haven’t bought an MXR Bass Synth (yet…) but I’ve accepted I just prefer my Ftelettronica Suboctave. This is the same pedal as the now famous Taylor Shift but with a different visual design. It includes a low pass filter which sounds great and the octave circuit is one of the best OC-2 clones out there. Can either ship or happy to meet anywhere in London. Any questions let me know!

  17. This is the problem, I recently read a post from someone who purchased a VS4 Electra only to find it didn’t have the push/pull switch despite it being advertised. Thanks for your replies though. Guess I’ll have to contact Sandberg direct.
  18. List a Status Graphite 4-string Jazz neck for sale on this forum and it will be gone within minutes at a price higher than its original RRP, simply because of both rarity and the vast number of instruments already owned that it will work with (Fender MIA, MIJ, MIM Jazzes and Precisions, plus many other brands). Cheap? It's simply good business sense. A lot of businesses go under because they fail to recognise the nature of the market they're selling into.
  19. Right so for knocks and dings I literally didn't see a mark on it,I want to say 10/10 but let's go with 9.9/10 just to cover myself 😊 Barts (to me) lack openness and lean to the dark side, which is exactly what some users require so it's definitely a taste thing. What would I change them for? I have a thing for Nordstrand Big Singles if I'm being honest. Ha ha do you know that could possibly be my dream job the amount of time I spend noodling on basses in shops. The chaps in Bass Direct,BassBros,The Bass Gallery,Wunjos,Epsom, Camden and Birmingham Guitar Guitar and Andertons know me a bit too well. Dunno if I need counselling or not 🤣 I'm actually planning an Andertons visit later today!
  20. A good thing about fitting the Hosco saddles is that they keep the correct look of the bridge - i.e. twin saddles - and also utilise the stock bridge plate so no new holes in the body are required.
