Must admit one of the nicest and quietest amps i have ever used was there 300w head!

Me thinks this is a little overkill

Behringer are renowned for having a very casual relationship to reality when it comes to numbers. Someone on here (not sure who) pointed out on a similar product (Bugera) that if it really was 3600W, it'd be drawing 15A from the mains. Doesn't leave much left for anyone else on the same circuit.

Anyway, anyone can see this is stupid marketing 'mine's bigger than yours' oneupmanship taken to extremes.

I can't remember the math, but the power / loudness relationship is not linear anyway, i.e. this is not 12 times as loud as a 300W amp.

Edit: doh! it is the same amp as previously discussed. If I could be bothered I'd post a link, but I cant so I wont.

Only Behringer would be so desperate to attact attention with such a powerful amp that they feel the need to talk in peak power rather than continuous RMS power! Despite it only having about half the claimed power it's still more than enough to kill any of their cabs...

I wonder how much of the R&D on this amp involved a competitor's product and a photocopier? :)

Aye - total nonsense those figures.

If you multiply the mains current drawn (~10A) by the voltage (~240) and then give them a guesstimated 90% efficient power supply, that's somewhere just over 2kW I reckon.

Mind you, the difference in audible output between 2 and 4kW is almost nothing....

And if they stuck a fruit logo on and made it out of white plastic, it'd sell millions. :)

I'm a little confused here - by "like Apple" do you mean "Behringer boast about their products, like Apple" or "Apple are an example of a company who don't boast about their products."
