HeadlessBassist Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago The Charcoal Frost for me, although maybe not - there's no Jazz. š¢ Quote
Jono Bolton Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Spotted this on Instagram this morning. The Charcoal Frost looks great, but I'd want to check out the neck on it. I know everyone was a big fan of the original road worn models from 10 or years ago but I had the 50s precision neck on a build and I really didn't get on with the finish on the back. Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago (edited) If it's a copy of a 60's bass it'll be a glossed neck, but the nitro finish neck gloss that everyone seems to hate will probably be mostly missing as it was on my RW Flea Jazz. I'm lucky to not get sweaty hands, so it's never bothered me. Edited 10 hours ago by HeadlessBassist Quote
AndyTravis Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Is it me or do they not seem particularly Road Worn? 1 Quote

There doesn't seem to be any damage on them. The tuning keys look a little tarnished, but I didn't see any chips or carpark gravel rash in the video. I'll look at Fender's demo in a while... Quote

HeadlessBassist Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Aha! They call it a 'carefully aged' Road Worn finish. So maybe it's meant to look old, but pretty well looked after? Edited 9 hours ago by HeadlessBassist 1 Quote
krispn Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I think itās a nitro with checking rather than a forced ā RW templateā so itāll get beat up quickly if treated a little rough but has that classic āaged nitro lacquerā look without the beatings.Ā Ā I think Fender has a closet classic finish yrs ago which had that gentle treatment/finish.Ā 1 Quote
PaulHornBass Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I personally prefer this to the 'heavy relic' wear. It looks aged but not beaten up/badly cared for! 12 minutes ago, krispn said: I think itās a nitro with checking rather than a forced ā RW templateā so itāll get beat up quickly if treated a little rough but has that classic āaged nitro lacquerā look without the beatings.Ā Ā I think Fender has a closet classic finish yrs ago which had that gentle treatment/finish.Ā Ā Quote

New Old Stock, Closet Classic and Relic. They've added levels since (Journeyman and Heavy Relic).Ā Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago When I saw the headline as these were announced yesterday I initially assumed that all of the instruments in the vintera II series would get a model in this range. Ā My wallet let out a massive sigh of relief when it realised there was no roadworn bass vi. Quote

Reggaebass Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Really like that and I do like it when a P bass sounds slightly darkerĀ Quote

jd56hawk Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Looks pretty good, despite the headstock, sounds great...but those Fender MIM prices are getting higher and higher and higher.Ā Other than that, Charcoal Frost with the red tort pickguard is very nice and not exactly a typical Fender finish.Ā I don't own a P bass and I don't buy basses without matching headstocks, but if Fender wants to send me one, I'll play it every day. Lozz196 Posted 1 minute ago Posted 1 minute ago Wow, Ā£1399! Ā Iām sure theyāre great but does seem high, pretty near Made in USA prices. Quote
