Awesome band, they were really unique as an all black band playing hard rock and playing it to an exceptionally high level, love these guys.

Used to play Love Rears It’s Ugly Head in a rock band many years ago, I’m not sure I could still physically play it now in older age.

I've loved them since hearing "Type" on the radio in 1990, and a "Stain Tour" gig I went to still ranks among the best I've attended across all genres.

I remember seeing them at the Garage in the mid 2000s. At one point I was surprised to see Jeff Beck squeeze past in the audience

I'm a big fan of Doug Wimbish and Living Colour.

 

Bit before my time, but I remember hearing Cult of Personality on Napster and loving it and then when I was 20 seeing Wimbish doing that performance on his DVD on YouTube completely blew me a way.

 

Saw lots of polar opinions about the sound on this tiny desk performance but I loved the separation, hearing Vernon reads guitar and dougs bass tone coming through.

Poor Doug, would have had the 'Stones gig if it wasn't for Vernon. Looks like he hasn't borne a grudge.

Well, it’s more that he could have had the Stones gig had he decided to take it. Not sure that can be put on Vernon?

I thought the sound was bang on. Doug’s playing is just sooo damn effortless but sounds huge. Really enjoyed it!

I thought it was Charlie’s call. He wanted a jazzer and Daryl had played with Miles which sealed the deal on its own

He was offered the 'Stones gig, but couldn't take it as he was committed to Living Colour. But then Vernon folded the band 2 weeks later (ot something), so he could have done it, but by then Darryl had it.

‘95 they folded so closer to two years than two weeks, though yeah if he was offered it (as above, opinions and recollections even from those involved seem to vary somewhat), maybe he’d have made the decision to jump ship had that been known at the time. Who knows? But nah, don’t think he has any issues with Vernon given they’ve all been back together for 25 years now. Either way I’m glad they’re still out there and sounding great, as they have each time I’ve seen them in that time.

On a side note, first saw Doug in 1987 at the Venue (?) in Edinburgh with Adrian Sherwood. Tiny place. Was in the front row facing Doug who had 4 and 5 string Spectors, a Tune bass and about 20 effects pedals. Had a wee chat with him a few years later at a Tackhead gig in Glasgow. Really nice  guy. Scathing about George Clinton I recall

(Not really a 'ride', though; more of a 'trash', a technical term, cymbal...)

Vernon was born in the U.K., he deliberately used the U.K. spelling when setting up Living Colour.

Just got around to watching this - Jesus they're good!! Frankly there's just too much talent in that band.

They are all just freakishly good. I saw them live fairly recently and was not disappointed. 

I played that first album to death when it was released. Still have the vinyl today.
