Mokl Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Based on the trailer, I'm not holding out much hope. The celeb cameos feel like a portent of doom to me. I'm not sure that ever works, does it? I really do hope it turns out to be decent. 2 Quote
jonno1981 Posted July 27 Posted July 27 I laughed at Nige working in a cheesemongers with the guitars hanging up behind him. Elton on keys and vox was a bit odd, will reserve judgement until release. Quote

jonno1981 Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Remarkable! I had no idea! He’s one of the least metal people I can think of. Quote
Burns-bass Posted July 27 Posted July 27 It’ll be dreadful but I’ll go to watch it. £4.99 a film at my local cinema Quote
Piers_Williamson Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Personally, I am really looking forward to it. We've already decided to make it a band social. Our singer has got a DVD to educate her daughter and her band about ST 1. The Italian Job II was nothing like the Italian Job (my favourite movie), but I still enjoyed it! Quote
Steve Browning Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I'm bound to have recounted this before. In the early 90's Spinal Tap were promoting their album Break Like The Wind. As part of the promotion, they came into the studio where I was recording at the time. From the moment of their arrival to their departure, 3 hours later, they remained in character and were simply hilarious. 4 2 Quote
tinyd Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Always a bit of a worry when celebs are brought in on the joke. Zoolander 2 was terrible because of this, but hopefully they'll avoid that here. I'm probably massively over-analysing it, but I think what bugs me from the trailers is that it's set in a world where Spinal Tap (the movie) is a comedy classic (i.e. our world). Whereas in the world of the movie, they would definitely be residing in the "Where Are They Now?" file. But complaining about a film before I've seen it is probably unfair..... Quote
ricksterphil Posted August 1 Posted August 1 (edited) Will the amps go up to 11.2 I wonder ST 1 was one of the reasons I bought an EBS head - they too go up to 11 Edited August 1 by ricksterphil Quote

Struggling to get too excited by the film. - 20 years ago, it poked fun at the excesses of the (rock) music industry. Now there isn't one so the humour is less relevant and more self-referential to the original film. That said, I've not seen it so may have to eat my words if and when I see it (and laugh) in the future. Quote
thodrik Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I was hoping for Lars Ulrich to appear on a version of Big Bottom and for him to insist on all bass guitars being lowered/removed from the mix in order to make space for more hi hat, kick and snare drum. . 1 1 Quote
Rayman Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I loved the first one, we all did, because we’ve all been in situations that are relatable…… but the trailer alone has put me off this one….. I don’t hold out much hope either. I do know that the actors didn’t do well financially from the first one, so maybe this is the payback? Quote

dave_bass5 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) I think it’s shaping up to be very not funny. the first one was a classic and completely original, but this one seems to be just flat. They seem to be doing the rounds and getting a lot of air time Edited 42 minutes ago by dave_bass5 2 Quote
Piers_Williamson Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Well I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. I've always wanted a little door in the back of my cab to keep my house-keys. Alex from Bareface if you are tuned in...please note! Quote
