Told it was "rock", but ended up being 90% straight up blues rock...splitting hairs maybe. It isn't my thing at all, and not particularly enjoying it. They're unprepared and musically sloppy. . I'm almost certain that I won't continue. This makes me sad because I miss playing with people, but it doesn't *feel* right. Conundrum. Equipment wise, it was a Tech 21 VT Bass 500 head with a TC Electronic k 212 cab. It's louder than my usual Orange OBC115, but doesn't sound as warm. Bass was a Sire V5 (24 fret version). Pedalboard was tuner, Empress Bass Compressor and a Laney Digbeth DI pedal. I miss my stacked fuzz pedals. Is there any scope for you to steer the sound? As a spotty teen I was roped into an indie band and ended up pushing us towards a more groove oriented sound which really pushed us forward (I was kicked out a year later and replaced by a guitarist who was given a bass) 😂 2 Quote
NoRhino Posted yesterday at 09:55 Posted yesterday at 09:55 Sunday and Tuesday rehearsals this week with each of my bands. Suffering from severe lurgy so both were sit down affairs with absolutely no singing. Made them fun by enjoying a session man approach to the bass parts. 1 Quote
tauzero Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Rehearsal last night with the latest band that I've been recruited to. We're doing a one hour set at a beer festival tonight and we have a fairly sketchy grasp of the songs, so that should be fun. It's a very odd set list, which sadly includes All Right Now but there's a lot of unusual and unknown (at least by me) songs that should ensure that no follow-on bookings ever happen. 2 1 3 Quote

tauzero Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I forgot to mention - I sit down to play, and the studio has bucket-type seats with bent wire legs. I leant back a bit to pick something up (all four legs still on the floor) and the chair collapsed. I'm a bit on the heavy side but at 100kg I'm not that enormous. There was a second identical chair in the room and that bore my weight for the rest of the evening. Quote

I get the impression that the drummer is keen to get a more rock sound than just doing Stones, Credence and Gary Moore. I really dislike Gary Moore. I'm giving it one more rehearsal, to see how it feels. Quote

MacDaddy Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Video shoot for a promo for one of the cover bands. We were only doing snippets of 4 songs but it still a full day of filming. 2 Quote
