Stub Mandrel Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Hawkwind on Sunday. They are so good these days, totally unexpected second flush of creativity with assured and confident performances. 1 Quote

Hawkwind on Friday, despite being a lifelong fan (the first album I ever purchased was Chronicles of the Black Sword when I was 12) this will be my first time I've managed to catch them live due to a catalogue of various inadequacies 1 Quote
Woodinblack Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I had looked but they didn't seem to be anywhere that was that near me to go to. I have seen them probably more than any other group, but not since the 80s! 1 Quote
MichaelDean Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Pom Poko at Bristol Beacon on Thursday the 5th of May. They always put on a great show! Seem to be getting bigger and bigger venues too. Last time I saw them it was at Thekla. 2 Quote
Bernmeister Posted April 17 Posted April 17 My next gig will be going to see Michael Schenker @ kk’s steel mill on the 8th May. On his “My years with UFO” tour 1 Quote

I first saw them around Choose Your Masques (the gig on the Coded Languages live album), then many times up to the early 90s. Black Sword was a highlight - I was at the Hammersmith gig on the live album too! Seen them again several times since 2018 and they are right back on form. 1 Quote
TrevorR Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Unexpectedly I’m off to see Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox at the end of the month. A chum’s Mrs can no longer go, so he’s offered me the ticket. Yay! Should be a blast. I love their YouTube videos! 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Winters End Prog Festival in Chepstow next week. Can't wait. 1 Quote

casapete Posted yesterday at 13:14 Posted yesterday at 13:14 Going to see Springsteen in Manchester on 20th May. Not seen him for a long time, and he’s now 75 so may not be quite the 3+ hour sets like he used to do. Still, really looking forward to hearing the band (17 piece) making a wonderful noise. 3 Quote
BillyBass Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I'm going to see 'Horsegirl' at the Scala, near Kings Cross, on June 29th. They are a very young American post punk band, playing the sort of music I was into 45 years ago. Quote

I saw him 2 years ago at Villa Park. 3hr set, absolutely fabulous. In my top three gigs in 40+ years. Took a couple of songs to get the sound right and (oddly) Bruce's voice to settle, but rocking after that. All having fun rather than going for super-high energy and aggression, but the band were tighter than a torqued-up tight thing. And the crowd were up for a party which fed back to the band. I bought the recording afterwards too, which just makes me smile when I play it back You'll have a blast- wish I was going 2 Quote

The E Street Band are one of the best bands I’ve ever witnessed, and I’m a massive Steve Van Zandt fan too so expecting a good show. The superb Eddie Manion on baritone sax as well, another favourite from The Asbury Jukes. 2 Quote

Stub Mandrel Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Springsteen has had a load of grief from Trump. Proves what a sound guy he is, if you ask me. I have a LOT of memories around 'The River'. 1 Quote

I’ll be there as well! I saw Bruce at the Isle of Wight festival in 2012 and he was brilliant. I always had it in my mind to see him at one of his own shows. only downside is the complete lack of parking available. I got the tickets from Twickets and didn’t think to check if there was football on at the same time. I’ve found a place, but it’s a decent walk away 1 Quote

I’ve found a place, but it’s a decent walk away The parking there is a bit of joke from my experience. We went to see Macca there in December, and my son in law booked a disabled space as he’s in a wheelchair. When we arrived the football had already started in the stadium next door and someone had parked in our allocated ( and paid for ) space. I took this up with one of the parking staff who was apologetic but said they couldn’t ensure people didn’t park in the wrong spaces. Pretty crap for us as we needed the space around the car that the disabled bays offered. In the end I found a space on the end of a row and we managed okay but it was a bit of a struggle. 😡 Apparently the football match this Tuesday is starting after the Springsteen gig does, so hopefully we’ll be in with a chance this time. SteveXFR Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Gary Numan playing a Glastonbury warm up at Cheese & Grain in Frome. The show sold out extremely quickly but its my local venue so I was signed up for presales. I've seen Gary once before as a special guest with Nine Inch Nails and he was extremely good so I'm really looking forward to this one 1 Quote
Richard R Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I've just been reminded I'm seeing the local "community choir" on the 14th June and apparently they are good. Not exactly Bruce Springsteen, but at least it's live music. Quote
