My beauty MIM 2001, but unfortunately for sale... reduce...

I like the colour.

I keep coming back to this pic as I can't work out if that's a real person or a statue sitting on the bench in the background?

My old Legend (Aria) and Squier VM basses. Photo taken by big lad Greg.

There will be a full review and more pics incoming during the next few days (in short, it's glorious), but here's a lovely shot of my De Gier Bebop 5 to get you going:

That's a familiar sight! Looks great, I was considering that colour when I bought my Bebop :) Which pickups did you have Sander install on yours?

Thanks! I went with the Lollars, glad I did. How about you?

I'm actually having a bit of a crisis of confidence at the moment as I'm not sure how to string this bass. I quite like it as E-C but it's hard to EQ it right, and I do sort of miss the low notes (especially as the bebop sounds thunderous down there!). Maybe trying to force the bebop to be all modern and widdly is limiting its true potential as a quality 'classic' jazz bass.

I have Nordstrands in mine, but in hindsight I might have made a better choice if I'd gone for Aero. But it sounds great as is, so I don't want to change it :)

I can't imagine stringing it E-C, the B string on this bass is so great, especially since I strung it with DR Fat Beams. Really tight :)

Interesting - very different sunbursts and plate colours. How much is due to exposure to light, and how much was originally the same...any thoughts?
the guards are the same, thats just the photo. The bursts though are very different. Both are 3 tone, during late '59 to late '60, the vast majority of fenders appear 2-tone, across all models, after this period, the red is far more accentuated, and lasts. The body on the bottom one is 8/60 (there are many stacker jazz bodies with this date, which was the first batch, the top one is early 61. I'll try and get a pic of the back of the '60, And front from a different angle, so you can see the 3-tone. Search on gbase for Fender between 1959 and 1960, and you'll see what i mean.

I've heard tales of early stack knobs with ash bodies and two-tone sunbursts, but I don't think I've ever seen a photo of one.
Yeah, thats just the 3-tone of that era, here's a pic of the back, showing the red unfaded, and if you look under the control plate, the red is still unfaded also;

Compared to some of the amazing basses appearing on here I think I would be struggling to describe my Jazz as 'gear porn'. Harley Benton Standard series jazz, bought for £27 as a 'deko' item and modded with Entwistle pups and a KiOgon wiring harness. Total outlay about £80 and I have a nice looking and really great playing jazz. Sounds the nuts too! Anyhoo.........pictures............
