Amongst the numerous discussions about methods of muting, be they manual or mechanical, I've never seen mention of fingering notes by pressing directly on the fret, which I find quite effective for a particular type of muted sound. Anyone do this?
On the 20th anniversary of his death, I sneaked Jaco's melody from "A Remark You Made" into "Fight For Your Right To Party" at a pub gig in Swindon. Dozens of people noticed and came up to tell me afterwards. Part of this is a lie.
How about something from Band of Gypsys? It covers the rock, funk and (of course) Hendrix. Plenty of scope to play around with it to please the hardcore element.
Did anyone notice this bass in the Sam Ash ad on the back of last month's (March 19) Bass Player? The fingerboard appears to be Maple under the B string and Ebony under the other four strings. I can't find a similar one online - perhaps it was just a photographic/printing error.
It doesn't work though. If (Eben)eezer Goode is menat to mean "E's are good", then what is the meaning of the following line: "He's Ebeneezer Goode"? - E's eben E's are good?
