  1. It's ok for her to moan about stuff cluttering up the hall. A moan is just a moan and hopefully she has an understanding of why you need to do this and is supportive of your musical endeavors. If she's not; that's a chat you should have had on day one.
  2. Well, I discovered it wouldn't fit in a friend's VW Beetle and being student accommodation, my house had the requisite shopping trolley and traffic cones, so I made use of the former whenever I needed to transport it to gigs and rehearsals on campus. It rattled a bit.
  3. Whilst at University, I transported my 4x10 combo in a shopping trolley, usually for a distance of between one and two miles. Probably didn't do it much good. I've also had a bass in a hard case down the middle of a mini, which restricted the use of the gear stick somewhat. Other than that; cars, vans, flat bed truck, boat, train, bus and trailer.
  4. This one includes a comment from Mr. Kimball himself. He seems to agree that it sounds awful, blaming it on technical problems.
  5. But you know it will sound totally different in the next venue!
  6. Survival! Wow, it's been a long time since I saw that sight.
  7. Hartke changed the volume control to be more linear on the second batch of amps. I had many concerns about the TX after reading many negative reviews, but I've had the opposite experience to others. It's a very loud amp. I posted a video clip in the other thread.
  8. You're close! Bass Player's review revealed it to have a 400w power section. As I said , for me it easily matches my LH500, so I'm happy.
  9. I totally disagree with this assessment of the TX600. See my post here: (Post 9 on P.2).
  10. After hesitating to buy a TX for over 18 months, due to all the negative reviews, I finally bought one. As someone who has done hundreds of gigs with both the Hartke 3500 and the LH500 and having used the TX for five gigs, I am happy to report that I find it at least as powerful, punchy and loud as the aforementioned models and I struggle to understand all those who are convinced otherwise. I can only put it down to ignorance about the physics of amplifying bass, which can lead to unrealistic expectations of how different wattages compare volume wise (those who think 600w will be much louder than 500w). Here is a clip of the TX through a Warwick 210 cab at a large beer festival with no bass through the PA. The sound you hear is direct from the 210 cabinet. The gain is at 12 0'clock, master volume at 10 0'clock.
  11. Clearly, women may not apply.
  12. Well done, I enjoyed reading it and was pleased to see a Brit featured.
  13. Several years ago I moved to somewhere roughly equidistant to Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham and made efforts to connect with musicians in all three cities. Since then I've done at least a hundred gigs in Bristol, three in Brum and one in Cardiff.
  14. Several other players left Ampeg at the same time, Victor and Will Lee among them. Reasons of a decline in artist support were cited. This is the biggest factor in endorsement deals.
  15. I've broken 3 in 30 years; one E and two As. Only one of them was during a gig and it happened on the penultimate note of the first set!
  16. There is an A440 version on Youtube. Search for "Sweet Child O'Mine tuned". This works for other detuned bands too.
  17. Fair enough, since she'd just launched into the PA speaker.
  18. Warwick (basses) is pronounced War-wick.
  19. They'll still write Squier for Chris! Not to mention David Gilmore and Randy Rhodes. Sigh.
  20. Unfortunately, he fails the no clickbait requirement. Edit: And is most certainly a "Youtuber"!
  21. I spoke to the retailer from which I purchased mine and was given the strong impression (although they obviously didn't state this explicitly) That I shouldn't worry.
  22. It'll be that old creative expression thing again.
