My simplistic way of thinking is that if the amp was plugged into an 8ohm speaker and into a magic 8ohm box, it would think it was going into 4ohms and be louder.
Since many of us use only one speaker cab for portability, but amps put out more power if connected to two, surely there exists some kind of device into which one could plug a second speaker cable and "trick" the amp into "thinking" that it's connected to another speaker cab. A stompbox sized unit with some circuitry inside is what I imagine. I've never heard of such a thing, have you? Perhaps there's a good reason why it wouldn't work.
People who use the term "snowflake" probably also say "Twenty four seven" (5 syllables) instead of "All the time" (3) and refer to inanimate objects as "bad boys".
What about the implicitly sexist criticism of his partner for not doing any washing and the suggestion that his mum will do it all. Why shouldn't he or his dad do some too?
It's because much like TC Electronic before them, Hartke have cooked the books. I had a shot of one a few weeks ago and it was laughable how low the output was. I would have said it was 300w at 4 ohms. Even at that I felt it was straining.
I don't like the LH series because the EQ is rubbish, but there can be no mistake about the power of them. They're devastatingly loud. Even my own HA5500 will cause people to lose their fillings when cranked. The TX600 to my ears isn't even as loud as an HA2000.
Bass Player's review in July 2017 revealed that the TX600s power amp, which is made by another manufacturer (normal practice for digital apparently) has a max output of 400w. Where does Hartke think the other 200w come from?
As I have posted on other threads; don't use Schaller straplocks as per the instructions. This results in metal grinding against metal and the strap buttons will eventually shear off. Instead, attach the strap to the bass as normal (without straplocks attached), then clip the straplocks onto the buttons, which will stop the strap coming off.
Does anyone know where I can order replacement machine heads for a Danelectro DC? Mine is the reissue fron the early 2000s, which has plastic tuners on the machine heads. I notice the recent reissue has all metal machine heads, so would like to buy a set of those, or an alternative which would suit the bass. Thanks.
Terrible and entirely the fault of the criminal, but yet another reminder that one should never leave an instrument unattended in a vehicle. Don't do it! Ever!
This was the theme to a Radio 4 programme in the 80s. It featured a predominant, possibly solo bass part. Does anyone recognise it and know what it is? Originally posted in Off Topic, but it's to do with music and bass, so I assume it's ok here and may get more response (last time it just prompted a discussion about "Sailing By"!)
