1. I know of someone who owned Hendrix's first Marshall head. It was auctioned for £20,000.
2. What about Arion effects? Cheap and cheerful, but the Stage Tuner was a classic and was owned by just about everyone.
3. Dave Pegg plays a fanned fret Ibanez in Fairport Convention.
4. Some rather amusing comments have now appeared on the Youtube video. I think you may be in trouble.
5.
Spirit of Radio by Rush. Time signatures, very difficult to nail.
All 4/4 apart from a bit of 7/4 if I recall correctly.
6.
Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way. Not particularly hard, but I couldnt seem to grasp the chromatic bass runs during the solo. They just seemed a random set of notes with no pattern to them.
G, G#, A in low octave. G, G#, A in higher octave E, F, F# (Octave up) Mix them all up, throw in a C, C#, D (Octave up) at some point and job done. Edit: Don't forget the climb from C# to E each time.
7.
Are you one of these that don't believe schools should have sports days then? Lets all rip up those grade 8 certificates while we are here
In a sports day, someone is fastest/highest/strongest, even if the hippies refuse to acknowledge it. But whose bass playing is best? Which painting is best? Which song is best? Which book is best? Welsh cakes or scones?
8.
Cross Eye Mary- What a performance by Bruce! How about King of Twilight, that bass intro is amazing.
Kill me ce soir is another good one.
9. What are some other tracks which showcase Tina's great playing?
10. "I was sat in the car." Who sat you there? Or do you mean you were you sitting in the car? "I was stood at the bar." By whom?
11. Shapes of Things - Gary Moore Shyboy - David Lee Roth
12. A close up of the original DVD disc is on this page: Rush: Rush Sector 2 - Album Artwork http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/imagedb-sector-2.php

14.
She Sells Sanctuary usually - nice and easy but sets the tempo for the night and settles us in. And i go for a wander out front to check levels - i can tweak the PA on open string A's if i need to....
For a song that goes D, C, G, that's quite clever!
15. I appreciate that there's humour in your post, but I hope you don't really think that ethnic origin would have any bearing on anyone's ability to play anything. You're a mammal with fingers and ears. Listen, listen, listen, absorb, absorb, absorb, practise, practise, practise.
16. Have you noticed how writers seem to struggle with adjectives and superlatives for bass players. I've often read the likes of "The screaming vocals of Robert Plant, the pounding, foundation laying drums of John Bonham, the face melting guitar of Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones on bass." What suggestions do you have?
17. It was Duck Dunn that died, Duck Dunne may still be alive.
18.
Has he passed away? Seeing reports he has, while on tour in Tokyo....
Five years ago.
19.
Just looking at the Bootsy pic I posted there and do the white folks stick out much? He reminds me of... </slightdrift>
?
20. Had a ticket for the previous tour, arranged to meet Spanish friend at gig. Lost ticket in a clear out. Found ticket torn in half in recycling bin. Sellotaped it together. Hughes cancelled tour. Arranged to meet friend at tube station near venue anyway, to go for a meal. Drove 130 miles to venue, including one hour to travel one mile at Oxford. Waited at tube station. Waited at tube station. Walked to venue to see if friend was there. Waited at tube station. Waited at tube station. Bought sandwich and cup of tea. Drove 130 miles home. Tube problems had prevented friend form getting there and his phone had died. Going to see Fairport Convention instead.
21.
I loved Free, and quite liked Bad Co. Have seen Paul Rodgers three times doing Free and Bad Co songs since 2003 and something about the gigs was not quite right. I enjoyed them, as Rodgers is incapable of hitting a bum note and he had some good musicians with him but something was lacking. For me the musicians were too mechanical. Free, and to some extent Bad Co, were not afraid to leave space in the music, and for me that is what made the music special. The gigs I have seen with Rodgers new bands they have been trying to fill in the spaces and it spoils the feel for me. I will still probably go if I can get tickets cos Free were one of bands that played the soundtrack to my youth.
I know what you mean. When I saw him in 2005ish it was very much a "Classic Rock" production, with the rawness of Free not much in evidence.
22.
dUg Pinnick Thread can be closed now.....
Entirely correct.
23. Over on "Mancuniancuisinechat" at the moment, they're discussing whether Flea is better than Mark King.
24. AC/DC Fly on the Wall. Yes, the production is dodgy, but the songs are great and compare favourably to others from the Johnson era.
