  1. I had just about given up on the postponed King's X gigs from last year being rescheduled. Then 'this' happened and I considered asking for a refund. Lo and behold they then announced new autumn dates for which my original ticket is still valid. However, I'm not optimistic about them actually going ahead. I've also held off buying tickets for Steve Hillage later this year.
  2. The Story of Rush will be showing 18 years earlier.
  3. Gloves are essential when carrying anything with any weight to it. I've known this happen before with shower screens, including in situ, for no apparent reason - worrying. I wish you the best for a speedy recovery.
  4. Quickly passing someone in a supermarket aisle is not a problem. Stopping and chatting is. Snogging too.
  5. And about time they corrected the spelling mistake on the back of their packets: "Designed and built in the companies (sic) R & D department."
  6. Interesting to hear Lee's observation that he played Stratus just a couple of times in the studio and then never again, but meets people all the time who have been performing it regularly for many years in covers bands!
  7. They are posting regular video content with the excellent Julia.
  8. I've had no major problems with them. I have found that items tend to arrive a day later than promised.
  9. Funnily enough that thought didn't cross my mind at the time.
  10. Great list of questions! 01 Ever played a gig sitting down? Yes, acoustic duo 02 Ever gigged on a different instrument? Acoustic guitar 03 Ever shared a stage with a musical hero of yours? Many musicians for whom I have huge respect, but no heroes as such. 04 Any fan ever had a tatoo of your band's logo? I hope not! 05 Ever signed an autograph in a dressing room? Yes 06 Ever cried on stage? Yes, gig after a grandparent's funeral 07 Ever worn a hat on stage? Yes 08 Ever gigged with a band you hadn't met before the gig? Yes, musicians who had never met before. 09 Ever been in a relationship with a fellow band member? With another bass player, yes, but not a member of my band. 10 Ever played in different bands on the same day? Yes, a couple of times. 11 Ever had anything thrown at you while playing? Yes, blackcurrant juice and verbal abuse. 12 Ever crashed on the way to the gig? No, only puncture. 13 Ever left a band over the choice of set list? No 14 Ever slept in the venue despite it not being a hotel? Yes 15 Ever been supported by a band clearly better than you? No 16 Ever played a gig suffering from some debilitating medical condition? Testicle infection. 17 Ever been in a band where the guitarist was your favourite bandmate? Yes 18 Ever played in the grounds of a stately home? Yes 19 Ever injured yourself on stage? Yes, mostly finger splits and cracks due to dry skin. 20 Ever been told that your bass isn't loud enough? Yes
  11. I've found that if I learn something, then play through it multiple times in one sitting, when I come back to it I still forget things. It takes a few days of playing it, even only once or twice a day before it starts to stick.
  12. Just as I was about to search for that very image. 😊
  13. Disco Inferno at approx 0:33, going into the first chorus. Born To Be Wild at approx 2:30, also going into the chorus.
  14. Like many others, my covers band is currently trying to post regular video content on its Fb page. Mostly, this means individual contributions. I have posted a couple of short, fun (?) solo pieces so far, but what beyond this? A short clip demonstrating an interesting part from a song, interjected with a bit of humour? A non technical explanation of an instrument or piece of gear? It's perhaps a time when people will be grateful of some brief amusement to take up a bit of the day; but should we dare to imagine that this might extend to bass videos?! Or leave it to the singer to perform some songs at his piano?
  15. It's a simple "no" isn't it? If we're all supposed to be doing everything we can. In my case we rehearse at the drummer's home, it would be just three of us, as the singer lives with someone vulnerable and would stay away and we would take sensible precautions. I have a feeling that it's still best not to - but, on the other hand, It's probably less risk than going to the supermarket and I have two children, who have been attending school all year! What have your band decided?
  16. Me too. I've been playing it since the early 2000s and it's just beginning to get quite smooth! Hardest part for me is the line that begins on C# in the last section. Also, in the 12th fret D section, the pesky double E to D in the 4th bar.
  17. With the simultaneous rhythm part on the open A underneath of course.
  18. I wish we had audiences like that. Most people don't notice a thing when I play a note perfect version of the album recording.
  19. We're going to save a lot of money on strings: "Social distancing would be needed for "at least half of the year" to stop intensive care units being overwhelmed, according to the government's scientific advisers." BBC.
  20. I think that's wishful thinking. I'd concentrate on re-learning Christmas songs (for 2021).
