Another annoying thing.... When someone replies to a post with their signature first followed by unquoted text from the post above it! You know who you are!
Keep going; you're on a roll!!!
Sorry chaps, I'm going to have to lock this thread and let things cool off for a couple of days. Someone has registered a fake account in the name of John Hall and its taking things too far. He's representing his companies interests, there is no need to make things personal.
IBTL
This is true, but the seller here, whilst certainly making it clear what the bass is trying to be, does state it is a copy based upon a Geddy Lee at a fraction of the price. Customs things is naughty, il admit...
Yeah, but this "copy" as the seller points out, has "Fender Jazz Bass" on the headstock......... it's done for the same reason they sell Fender repro decals.
Am i missing something? The seller does not actually claim it is an original Fender??
The person who buys it and then sells it on to you, or someone you know, in a year or two might well do.
Tell the world you intend to commit fraud.
Part of what I reported.

Reported; let's see if they pull this one then.
I'm selling my old Rockinbetter copy. According to the headstock, it's made by a company called Rickenbacker. Don't know much about them - I think they're American? £200 ono.
WANTED - URGENT! Gadget for cleaning coffee off laptop monitor!
True dat. If Rics are as good as everyone says, I don't see why they are so threatened by cheaper imitations. Unless they're better...
That's most certainly true of the John Birch "copies"; better in quality of wood used, build, electrics, finish. If JB could do it plenty of other manufacturers can - and I'd be sure that's what Rick are scared of. Pity they can't invest the money they spend on lawyers to improve their product.
Thanks for the posts chaps. My son is in Melbourne for a year and is looking for bassplaying work.
Years ago I shipped a Vamp head & a Vamp separately; strangely enough to Melbourne. If your son sees a T.Rex tribute with "Marc" playing Vamp amps over there chances are it's him. The buyer arranged FedEx to come for them - and for my part I double boxed both, with about 4" or more of bubble-warp all around. The only "damage" was the mains indicator lamp was missing, but it was in the pics I took when packing, so it must have been loose in the packaging.

All very true, but it's a situation that Fender allowed to happen by not having restrictions in place. BUT even if they did, in this day or forged everything, from Duracells to trainers there's no guarantee that the sellers items are genuine - and until someone nails someone to a door in court for it it'll keep going on - and even then many will see it as a risk worth taking. Caveat Emptor as always - there's not much else you can do.
I really love the look of this thing. I really want it for some reason. Can't bring myself to buy it though. Thoughts anyone? My son's band were sold two old Marshall 4 x 12" PA columns for £60 that they soon didn't want because they looked too old & weren't loud enough. They each had Celestion "pre-Rola*" Greenbacks in (which I was assured were the ones that are sought after) and paid for quite a bit of gear for them. * No, I don't know either.

Mistaken identity - made me remember the 70's
Big_Stu replied to KiOgon's topic in General Discussion
I was once asked for my autograph on Oxford St on the grounds that they thought I was Mike Reid - the DJ. At the time there was a similarity - apart from the foot & more difference in our height .............. I too have a face for radio. -
Went to see Nazareth again a couple of weeks ago; I've been a big fans since their 76(?) tour. Pete Agnew has been using an Alembic for years now thru' a Trace Elliot twin stack. Apparently they had a few tech problems this year, but I was in front of Pete both nights & his sound is just awesome. Really nice guy too, chatting away & having a banter. The problem I've found with Youtube examples is getting a sound quality that shows what you mean; so I've dug out this pro recorded - as opposed to mobile phone - sample. .................... witness too the simply phenomenal vox of "Dangerous" Dan McCafferty. Nice; I like Hiwatts - a lot! Only time I saw or heard a 400 it was clean - perfectly clean, both to hear & to look at. It was one of the original Hylights first batch IIRC. It had two handles on top & took two of us to lift on top of a Trace stack to try it out. Didn't get past 3 before you had to shout to be heard - and that was outside. I'm assuming this is a MG version, ie. Doncaster. It's now in NM, USA & being well used.
What did we bass players think of marshalls? We're not big users today? (family fortunes question - we asked a hundred bass players what amp they used. Bet Marshalll not in top 5.)
Not sure this is the right thread for this, though there are three on the go. Maybe start a separate thread on the question?
