1. When you find one I know where you can get a cover for one
 2.
They look very retro chic too.
Was it actually retro when this thread was started?? now you've gone & woken it up!!
 3. Now taking time out to listen to a Wilson Pickett special on Radio 2 hosted by Roger Daltrey; I dare say there'll be quite a few influential bassists on the tracks selected - whatever they are..... later!
 4.
I think I've got a can of you in the cupboard. Oh no, that's Big Soup. Similar though, promises much but strangely unsatisfying.
Said the guy who only 10 minutes or so ago said...........
As for your other stuff; gibberish.
Like I said ........... "Come the day".......
 5.
Why do you bother posting at all if you won't engage in a decent discussion? Seems like you're the troll IMO.
Come the day that you ever have one I promise I'll make a point in it; deal? troll?
 6.
EKO were Italian, and they're back! (albeit made in Czech or China these days). http://www.ekoguitar...asp?co_id=79840
You don't need to go that far to ease any EKO GAS. IIRC the story is that when EKO folded Brandoni bought all their unmade parts. http://www.brandoniguitars.co.uk/ekogtr.asp
 7.
Maybe the issue is that your definition differs from mine, which is what I was getting at.
There you go - you just condensed a couple of dozen lines into one; you can do it if you try. BUT - as I said, you've already put enough words into my mouth as to make it a waste of time "reasoning" with you, I don't think you're capable.......... you want examples???? *sigh* "Also, why do you automatically assume that because someone says "so-and-so influenced a lot of people" that the person making the statement is automatically a fanboy?" Did I? Can't see it anywhere, especially since I'd take fanboy as a bit derogatory. "Ok, seeing as you really seem to have a real bee in your bonnet" Vacuous at best. can you not separate concept and preference? I'm not the one who can't decide what an influential musician is.
 8.
Ok, seeing as you really seem to have a real bee in your bonnet about anyone influencing anyone else (especially where you don't happen to like them), please clarify what you describe as "influencing somebody". To me, somebody who inspires someone else to pick up an instrument "influences somebody". Someone who has an impact on the way they play technically, or the way they create lines, or both, or more, "influences somebody". Flea certainly fits the first criteria and probably the others too. Also, why do you automatically assume that because someone says "so-and-so influenced a lot of people" that the person making the statement is automatically a fanboy? I acknowledge Jaco as one of the most influential bassists ever, but I'm not really much of a fan at all. Or can you not separate concept and preference? My first bass influences were probably Lemmy, Phil Lynott and Gaye Advert. Gaye Advert you say? Yep. I saw a picture of her with a blue Rickenbacker and thought "how cool is that?" I'd never even heard her play, but in a sense she influenced me and my direction as a player, even if only in a small way.
No bees in my bunnet. Call me crazy but since 99.9% of folk on here are musicians, unbelievably on a musicians forum I would have thought it more than a tad obvious what kind of influence I was referring to. But since you've made a lot of fairly basic assumptions as to what i meant or what I should have meant & since you categorise "influence" so broadly I'll pass on answering your troll ITAWI.
 9.
Donny Osmond as a Bass player - Very uncool.
Think that's Donny on keys.
 10.
the rest of the contestants in the race were sat back doing nothing.
That's usually my fave kind of player of any description, the ones that appear to be sitting back doing nothing - but when they stop you wonder where that bloody big hole came from.
 11.
And with that, I shall bow out
You know you won't; you'll be back to argue your corner That's the thing with folk who claim their idol "influences" folk. It's one of my pet irks is misplaced claims of "influence"; it usually ends up that someone who's admitted to liking a song or an album by someone is claimed to have been influenced by them. I rarely believe it until I hear that influencee say so themself.
 12.
It seems to me that if they weren't going to pay you they should have told you at the time the punters left and not used your services before letting you know they weren't paying
I'd have got the hint to expect non-payment at this point...............
The management come up to us and say with a great deal of venom "you just cost us £500 worth of orders."
13.
I'd add Flea to my list too. I am not saying they are rubbish - all i am saying is that when i heard them i couldn't work out why they were rated so highly.
You can't say that!!!!!!!!!!!
...............................Flea .......................... if we're quite honest has influenced a million other bass players too.
Glad it was only quite honest as opposed to actually honest.
 14. A lad in a school band around 1978 had a new (or old mint) Simms-Watts half stack for his Vox bass. I thought SW had one of the ugliest logos I ever saw.
 15.
I seem to remember the guy pushed out the pole pieces ................... my point being that you may be able to push it up 2mm.
Certainly the case with older Fender single-coil pickups, I've done it.
 16. Me; 1979, with - apart from dubious dress sense; a Gibson EB3, (curly lead!!!!) a Marshall Super PA 100w & a TVM 1 x 18" 150w cab.
 17.
From what I understand too many people viewed them and they exceeded their bandwidth limit
If you reduced the file size before uploading them shouldn't you be able to get more views for your virtual buck?
 18.
First of all sir, allow me to apologise for ruining your day! Someone brought this post to my attention and thought I'd check it out... Not being a Bassplayer for over 30 years now, I was confused by One or Two of your remarks,, -Play slap like it was intended?!? How does that work? Maybe like on Double Bass in the 1920's with Pops Foster or Steve Brown- Or more like Larry Graham and the Great Louise Johnson of the 70's Mark King 80's... It goes on... How about-- Athletes should run a mile properly like Roger Bannister! Now I fully understand it's not everyones cup of Tea and belive me there's know one more tiered of my licks than me!! That's why I got to where I am now, through constanatly searching out and discovering New techniques to push the style forward. It's a rhythmical passion of mine! Maybe I should of played Drums or better still Tablas! What is -:Dock of Bay!, maybe I should learn that One and everyone will watch enthralled. I had a Good time at the show and spoke to many many peolpe -including Doug Wimbish- who wanted to know what the hell I was doing.. I of course obliged and showed them my right hand techniqe in conjunction with my left... Slap Bass to me sounds to basic a terminology to describe where the style has progressed to these days. I call it Rhythmsync, and it's played on a Bass! Oh,,, I've played with lots of bands over the years from Jerry Donahue to bands with Proff Brian Cox in,, Here's me and Brian back in 1991 with Thin Lizzy's keyboard player on Vox.. I play lots of styles as I Am a Bassplayer!!! anyway... Eye for an Eye... As your status suggests, it maybe you Sir who if a Fully fledged Member!
Sir, I don't know you from Adam, I've never heard of you so yours creds don't work for me; though I did see Jerry at a gig a few months ago & he held the place raptured without you - or any other slap player. But if you'd checked out last years thread on the same subject, the recent post(s) on here about hoping that the gig isn't ruined by slap & the fact that it is again a bone of contention here maybe you should be a bit professional & realise that it's just a racket after a while - and many folk are sick of it. I saw the vid from last year & like many/most others I got bored after less than two minutes - that's what it is to many - boring - and that is a hell of a tag for a pro musician to have. Edit: spelling
 19.
We don't all follow Mr Salmond
Fair fa' yir sonsie puddin' face, Great chieftain o' the Scottish race!
 20. Last I heard - a long time ago - he'd supposedly gone onto acoustic only instruments. Good to know he's still going anyway.
 21. Is Jimmy Moon in Glasgow still going?? BC's Thornybank had a fantastic blue bass of his to sell a kidney for, it's the only one I've ever seen.
 22.
"Absolutely shocking. The only thing worse than greasy thumbprints and crumbs is when uncultured savages turn the corner of the page down to mark their place.
I beg to differ................... at 2.55
 23.
Ah yes, but I'm not a huge fan of the body shape. I like a classic fender body, more pleasing to my eye.
Should have gone to Specsavers!
 24.
I need to consider more money or different basses...
Then you're getting into EB0/EB3 territory; which is a nice place to be - and was covered extensively not so long ago. The Epiphones are liked, but would need vintage electrics to get "that" sound.
 25.
with regard to Fender Musicmaster basses. I really want a shortscale bass as I've not got enormous hands.
Wasn't it one of those that Alan Lancaster used for the same reason?
