1. Mine came out along with the plug one time; it could have been down to an unfortunate flaw in the wood in that area, but once it's out - it's out to stay. Mine currently has a les paul plate on it - but I wish I'd seen that Ebay one at the time. I also know a young lad who's Squier jack did the same thing, but to be fair he'd left his plugged in leaning against his amp waiting for when it was knocked over sideways....................................... so he was shot and strangled.
 2. These things http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TELECASTER-ELECTRO-SOCKET-JACK-NEW-CHROME-PLATED-/160753273933?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item256da44c4d are the true answer to one of the most cheap, nasty, crappy designs that Fender has ever persevered with. The socket screws into the cup without the need for a locking nut AND the two fixing screws are at least 10x stronger than the usual bent claw Fender use.
 3.
As the guy rang back and apologised when he found out he was wrong, he's probably very embarrased about the acusations he made. I reckon the relationship between the studio and the band will have changed significantly and you'll be on the 'good guys' list now.
and another +1, you could make light of it - and say something like "Of course you do realise we expect cheaper rates now"
 4.
I don,t think we will hear much Rick bashing on thus thread. Jetglo rules
Is that where you touch gloves before playing & return to your corner when told?
Washburn HB-35 (mid 80's..?) given to me by a good friend so will remain with me for ever.
Same with this Washburn I was given......... I thought it was an electro-acoustic, but it's incredibly quiet unamplified; MUCH quiter than my Ovation Applause. It's a shallow body, about the thickness of a Tele, & the soundhole is more or less for appearance only, lined with a hard coarse plastic. Thru an amp it's great, with a very wide pre-amp, but I just don't see a way to make it louder acoustically - anyone know anything about them?
 6.
there must be other issues going on that are clouding* the picture - either positioning so you can hear it, eq set up, even a fault. * note my restraint when avoiding of the word 'mud' or 'muddying' when discussing MAG series Ashdown...
Bravely restrained Sir!!!!
 7.
LED's .............................. I thought it was bad enough that we had one member of the band strutting around as if he was taxiing airplanes at Heathrow
Fantastic! Well that's me going to be chortling away to myself for the rest of today If I spill the varnish that I'm doing next you're in T....rouble!!
 8.
Hi guys. I need some advice here as I'm getting lost in some of the technical detail regarding Ohms, watts and overall volume! I recently did my first gig in a pub using my Ashdown MAG C410 T 300 Bass Combo. It just didn't seem loud enough and was distorting a bit.
Was that your opinion alone, or did you go out in front, either wireless or on a long lead, or comments from others that they couldn't hear enough of you? If you're stood over it with it firing low & past you get a different impression than the punters might.
 9.
No matter how much I try they are in the small doses when the mood takes.
^ this
 10.
I was thinking that I would keep it, drool over it a bit, try really hard not to saturate it and further destroy the already checking paint with said drool, then play it, put it back in it's box and repeat for the next 2 decades, repeat. ...................................... My conscience is 100% clean and free of guilt. This bass will one day be passed on to my children, and or help put them through school. Definitely will not be donating this or any proceeds to anyone while my own family could benefit tremendously from it. I really don't buy into the whole Karma thing, But if I did I'd have to say that karma was certainly on my side, not against me.
Fair play to you mate - and I agree entirely with your views on it's present ownership & how you came about it. Good luck to you & I hope you enjoy it. Or as a great man once said............
 11.
Don't worry don't plan on hanging out long just wanted to say thanks.
Are you mad?? This forum is leagues ahead of TB. Unless of course you're trying for #1 of the "What colour scratchplate should I put on my mega-rare possibly factory refinned bass that some numbnuts hate me for legitimately owning" club???
 12. I had a couple of pointy blue picks in my jeans pocket, my other half thought I'd forgot about them when she washed them - but it's my relicing technique - next stop Ebay!!!
 13.
Mu&£@*uard.
I had them recommended to me by Sound Control (RIP). When I phoned them they couldn't get their head around a custom bass not having a S/N. They also insisted that they wanted an "official" valuation from a "recognised authority" but wouldn't say what they considered to be a good enough authority. I tried Vintage & Rare but they declined. The case wouldn't be a problem, the locked internal door would be. Previously I'd been with E&L, but they were impossible to get in touch with to renew, which I took as a bad sign for if I ever needed to claim.
 14.
Good job they never did anything like - I dunno - passing amplifiers off as 'vintage' Hiwatts when they - er - weren't.
According to Plexi palace there were far more Marshall forgeries than Hiwatts; at least with Hiwatt it was more obvious once you knew to look for the wandering parentheses on the spec plate; as in [sup]([/sup] [sub] Hiwatt [/sub] [sup])[/sup] Couldn't have happened to a nicer pair, likewise the sentence should have been more; might even be worth a trip to Leeds to throw litter under Jason's road-sweepers' brush.
 15.
You guys are looking at this all wrong. The OP needs to got. wifey you bust my amp I need a new one. It's blew kapput fried scrap useless. she gets guilty and Buys or lets the OP buy a new amp with no complaining. THEN and only then open it to take a look. Or say I'm going to through this around to so and so see if it's any good to him for parts. Then open it, if it's just a fuse then friend just happened to find the parts needed in another Amp that was wrecked and fixed his If it's wrecked well then he has a new amp anyway .
Now that your other half is an active member here I guess that's one avenue of your amp acquiring technique closed?
 16.
Wow, a genuine death bass! Doesn't it creep you out a bit?
hmm, hadn't thought about it like that. John was a genuine mad professor type& while many have said he had a fearsome, argumentative nature he was always alright with me. In one room he had 4 TVs set up - each with a video-recorder attached, all of them were on & he watched all four at once with a remote ready in case he wanted to tape something. He started telling me about a new pickup he was working on with a cast iron frame that was going to be revolutionary.
 17. With all that wood taken off the body it'll probably have a very authentic submarine-style dive too.
 18.
heh heh... I wouldn't be surprised if Google Translate or something similar was involved.
I think it's made clearer by this bloke http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=323kQis2zbM&feature=related
 19.
Clank
Call that a "clank"? THIS is a clank! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW3UAN3E9Tw&feature=related
 20.
Hmmm, not for me. You've gotta play a Rick with a pick!
Yup, like this...... I've always thought of Ricks as having a nasal twang about them..............not in a derogatory way! Like Lemmy's "solo" at around 1:15
 21. Sorry to those who have seen this story before........... The guy in the 1970s who built this......... this................. and this .................. (a replica of the original) Built this for me.................. .......... and then, two days later, was sadly found dead in his kitchen. This bass is the last ever John Birch guitar that he personally worked on.
 22. I bought myself a Telecaster about 15 years after first picking up a bass. First thing I did was learn a few open chords & hammered them into my brain by playing them endlessly, for eg. playing a Bo Diddley style rythm in open E for a couple of hours. I knew I was getting it when one of the neighbours lads went past the front window doing a chicken-head walk to it. The rest followed in the same way, during that, also putting in the barre chords, & a few alt tunings & you're away! While I know I'll never be a Stevie Vai I can fill in on rythmn guitar if need be.
 23. you could make filler by getting some mahogany scraps from a woodyard if you have one near by, or mahogany dowels from Homebase etc. Saw them up with a hacksaw & mix the dust with PVA (wood) glue, the glue dries clear leaving a damn good colour match.
 24.
Cant you solder the wires to the tags ?
+1, for a no connection failure situation; failing that Marshall's tech dept has never once let me down & quite often sends small parts out for free.
 25.
The clubs are for those desperately seeking a sense of belonging and feel they share something with others by choosing the same bass (most probably)
I've seen more than a few posts where someone comments that they have a Fender or Rick bass that looks just like another poster's. Sherlock must've been right outta sh*t that day!!!
