1.
Quite right too, that's the way it should be! Good luck for the show.
Thanks!
This is surprising, I found the CS-3 pretty unusable on bass! I imagine you'd be able to find a CS-2 pretty easily over in the US, and I would well recommend picking one up. They work so much better! Here's what Juan Alderete has to say about his! http://pedalsandeffe...mber-one-pedal/ Good luck with the talent show btw! Though with that dirt selection, you'll blow them away!
Yeah, it doesn't sound particularly good, but it evens out the issues I was having with uneven string volume on the Ibanez SR500. I'm planning to get a MIM Jazz bass though, so that should solve the problem.
 2. Been awhile since I was on here! Here's my board for the school talent show that's a week from tomorrow- You could say it's going to get pretty dirty! The compressor is on loan from my bass teacher's husband, but I love it already. The combination of compressor + B3K makes things fall off tables.
 3.
It's that time again... Shep on Bass - Interview: James Brown/Amptweaker May I present James Brown of Amptweaker. A man with a long history in the audio industry. A history which has been focused on tone since the very beginning. James's background within the audio industry has been based around developing equipment which delivers the goods for guitarists all over the world but now his passion is directed toward Amptweaker, creating pedals packed with years of industry expereince and insight. One word... TONE.
Oh man, this is cooool. The tightmetal is one of the best guitar distortions out there, imo.
 4.
Been a while since I posted a few pics. The HUGE board has been stripped and is currently acting as a coffee table in the studio. I have a new live electronica project on the go (live bass & electronics as a 2-piece) and this is my much reduced set up that I'm using for it... Bass -> TC Polytune Mini -> * (GigRig QuarterMaster 4 Input) * COG Effects Custom Meat Grinder Fuzz -> Subdecay Prometheus -> Eventide PitchFactor (with EB VP Jr) -> Moogerfooger Low Pass Filter (with MP-201) -> * (GigRig QuarterMaster 4 Output) * TC Nova Delay iB Mod - > Amp All housed in a Diago Showman (other than the delay) and powered by a GigRig Modeular Power Supply. There is a MIDI Splitter in the top corner too which delivers a MIDI Clock from the electronics to sync the LFO's of my MP-201 and crazy effects in the Eventide. Sounds HUGE!!! Shep
Repping the subdecay I see! Great stuff!
 5.
Got the B7K today. I like it but the EQ certainly gives you something to think about; I found dialling in tones more difficult than the B3K but it is certainly more flexible. Will have to see how it sounds live:
Oh man, this is great. I wish pwnzors were still up for sale..
 6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma04Nady1nk Sorry if anyone's seen this before, I think it's pretty awesome! Jojo Mayer of Nerve fame and Janek Gwizdala as formerly interviewed by Shep jamming it out at Namm. If you're interested in what some of those crazy effects, check out the interview: http://www.sheponbass.co.uk/blog/interview-janek-gwizdala.html Hope you guys enjoy!
 7. I have a couple complaints with the XP100: Firstly, it sounds really digital. Secondly, it 'lags' a little when you actually play. The note comes out a little bit after you actually play it. This might not bug some people, but for me, I just can't stand playing through something like that. Can't offer an opinion on the M5, however.
 8.
You may want to have a look at THIS. Best thing I've ever seen on compressors.
This is awesome, thanks. Usually, everyone just links to Onvilab, which is a little helpful, but still hard for me to understand..
The CE-2 has a couple of trim pots inside (accessible by taking the baseplate off), one of which adjusts the "Depth". Does the CE-5 not have something similar?
I have a notorious history of not checking the insides of pedals for trim pots, but I'll check out this afternoon. Thanks for the suggestion!
 9.
I have no quality recording and we're still composing/finalizing tracks but if I have any day I'll let you know... I like the multicomp as an always on pedal, it doesn't color the sound much IMO with a light compression setting, even in tubesim mode which I use and find the best (my settings : comp/limit : 11 ; gain : 9 or 10 ; active bass switch position ; tubesim mode). The compressor is mandatory to me before the bass Whammy (and octaver) for a better tracking. I must admit I would like to compare to others like the MXR bass compressor pedal or even a rack like DBX 160 or something but I'm quite happy with it till now.
Compressors have always been the hardest for me to understand! I'd like to hear that music though, so whenever you get some recordings done..
 10. I'd like to hear your music! I have a CE-5 myself and I find it's a little bit too subtle for my taste. How does the multicomp work for you?
 11.
Hi all, here's my board My PB is the Gator GPT-PRO-PWR Chain : >> Boss TU-2 >> EBS MultiComp >> EBS Octabass >> Digitech bass Whammy >> Darkglass B3K >> Tech21 Red Ripper >> EBS WahOne >> Boss BF-2 >> Boss DD-3 >> Mooer Trelicopter >> Boss GEB-7
I hate to mention the stereotype, but when I see a Bass Whammy, a delay, a flanger, and an overdrive on a board I immediately think 'TOOL!' Do you cover any of Chancellor's stuff? Either way, awesome board.
 12.
Thank you, it's been a couple years in the making, and I think I might move up to either a PT-1 or PT-2 to a) stop it being so cramped for my huge boats-turned-shoes and I have an AKG wireless coming and would like to have the reciever on the board so I only have one lead coming out of my amp.
Yeah, I have the shoes problem as well.. Plus, you don't want that Deep Impact hanging off the board. Triggers pedalboard-OCD.
 13.
Would distortion significantly mess with pitch?
I'd assume in the act of tuning itself you'd turn everything else off first, though.
Now I own a Darkglass B7K courtesy of danweb22 I have given the board a jiggle about! Getting a tad cramped on there me thinks!
That is a beautiful board.
 14.
Yeah dude. Cool bunch of guys and they were stunning when we played in Antwerp. They opened the night and were NOT an easy act to follow!!
I bet! They have a very overwhelming sound for sure!
 15.
After a nice Christmas break I'm hitting the interviews full force. Here is the 1st of 2013... Shep on Bass - Interview: Jimmy Bridges Jimmy Bridges is the bass, synth, electronics & all-round low-end noise monger for London Post Rock legends UpCDownC. Unlike many of the people I have interviewed, Jimmy does not have a huge pedal set up, though he does have access to an equally complex sounding range of tones, opting instead of a range of Synth and software items to compliment the core of his bass tones. Check out what Jimmy has to say about his gear and his sound...
Thanks Shep, I've always loved post-rock, and I must say UpC is incredible!
