1.
Who are the first and second..?
No, Who was on first base, or is that bass?
 2.
but then I still watch Charlton Heston movies.
Favourite Charlton Heston quote; when Parkinson interviewed him he asked "Do you think God gets annoyed that most people think he looks like you?"
 3.
Isn't Durham a city rather than a town?
Probably, since it has a Cathedral. Maybe it wasn't when he wrote it, or he couldn't find a rhyme for "city" - apart from the obvious one which would have had it banned by the BBC.
 4.
Not actually a Geordie.... which may explain his geographical faux pas!
Yeah, I know, but he says himself on a live CD I have that he has a great affinity with the area, possibility ancestry. But he has Durham on the Tyne rather than Wear, so that he can rhyme it with "age of nine".
 5.
One I admit to no-one (except to the whole world on here) is 'The Organ Entertains' on radio 2. Listen on i-player most weeks. Absolutely no idea why, the music is often dreadful, I think its part fascination with these electro-mechanical organs - about which I know very little.
I've been known to sit in the balcony of the Blackpool Tower Ballroom watching the Wurlitzter player doing his stuff. Damn, I'll have to go in disguise next time.
 6. Don't let it keep you awake nights.
 7. Had a singalong to Roger Whitaker's "Durham Town" today - which I also have on CD, (did I say that out loud? ) Great song, though for a Geordie type bloke his geography's off a bit.
 8. The new BC tips on how to achieve a late refund proved to be controversial.
 9.
I may be completely wrong, but I think that is a 'spare' earth in case you want to line the cavity with copper foil / conductive paint - you just screw it into the body through the the foil and hey presto, your cavity is earthed.
^This - my MiM Tele had the same.
 10.
errr with respect... the guy is still calling me an arsehole in PM's if you have a problem with the thread dont login
My powers of self-control in not writing what I'm thinking are growing by the day.
 11.
Much respect SidV.
+1 too, and far more succinctly put than my original train of thought. very definitely on the high ground there, well done!
 12. I took a guitar to Holland once, and a practise amp to Cologne (IIRC) Both times I got a steal on the flights & took it myself, Tele in it's case (from Glasgow) & amp in it's box well packed.
 13.
Lemmy. That is all.
Check out post 70 It all went off at a bit of a tangent after that.
 14. Yeah, and If I was in the US bleedin' A, walking down the sidewalk, pushing a stroller and watching the streetcars crossing fifteenth and vine and an American says to me, "I could care less". I would say, "Oi!, NOOOOOO! I respect your colonial right to be economic with the letter "u", just to be different, when you're busy putting COLOR into your HARBOR, but that doesn't give you an excuse to not mean what you say about prizes!"
 15.
But why? Millions of people still revere centuries-dead composers
Yeah, but at least The Rolling Stones are still touring!
 16.
If thee could geet someone t' give me a bump up, I were quite short in 78. Grand of yee
Aye! 'appen!
 17.
PLEASE! I could care less
Point of order Mr Chairman; it's "I couldn't care less", on the grounds that "I could care less" means the exact opposite of what the usual intention of the phrase implies. Now back to your scheduled discussion.........
 18.
So with all that dough, he still dyes his hair himself..... Yeah Yeah Yeah, course he does.
he does! It's called "Get Black"! *lights blue touchpaper & walks quietly away*
 19. Not even if I bought one ticket 'n let thee in thru t' bog window!
 20.
So basically you are seeing acts doing tributes to a band in a building that is in itself a tribute to the original venue which no longer exists either. I think there is a certain poetic justice in that Can't see it being on Bilbo's 'must visit' list though...
Yeah, I was a bit about it being a copy building, I thought that was something only Americans did with bridges. To top it all they modded it a bit with all those bands names carved into the bricks outside.
I think there was an interview a while back with macca where he was having a laugh at himself telling the story of his early attempts at hair dye where under the lights of a sweaty gig it started to go a funny purple colour and start coming down his forehead...
Dunno if it was a modern legend but I read that Elvis was originally lighter in his hair colour and used black shoe polish until he could afford black dye on a regular basis, the polish allegedly gave his hair a blue sheen.
 21.
Actually, within the UK, "not proven" as a verdict is only competent in Scotland, not South of the Border. Have to agree, though, that the lapse of time makes attempting to stand on the usual rights reasonably enforceable against a trader/manufacturer unreasonable against a private individual.
I know, I lived there for over half my life, that's why I put the bit in parentheses, and what you say there was entirely my point previously. Time barred in any reasonable mind. Anyway, looks like it's time to move on. A few more buyers and sellers a bit more aware, some with lessons learnt etc. I for one, haven't lost any faith in this place - and would still prefer it to Ebay.
 22.
Did he? I'm young you see and wouldn't have been aware of this Odd though considering chords is all so very....something or other...oh you know...not fashionable but sort of in? Isn't it?
Ah you see, I'm an old sod, my first (Motorhead) gig was around 1978 (poss even '77). They were likened to a loud punk band then. A' t' Bold Street Workingmen's Club, Accrington, 'n we all 'ad kippers f' tea.
 23.
As an aside, anybody else noticed McCarneys now has slightly strange hair ? Could it be a rug ?
At his age I'd be disappointed if it wasn't But there was a pic of him a few years ago when he was maybe nipping out for a gallon or two of Grecian2000.
 24. I remember Lemmy being slagged for playing chords - but he's managed to get along.
 25.
If Sid were a trader, and I were Trading Standards, I could achieve a successful prosecution for misrepresentation.
Therein is the rub though; he's not a trader, he's a forum user who sold something which just as equally could have been working when it left his address, no-one will ever know, you have to take his word for it; in the same way you have to take "solbluesine"s word that he hasn't had it in or out of 6 guitars since where at any point it could have broken. As already said "Buyer beware" etc etc. Case not proven (That's a North Of The Border verdict too)
