Try to play thickwr string for a bit e.g. 135s or 175s and afterwards you will realize that even 110s are soft and tender ))
2.
Wow that's a crazy tuning! So it's Drop C right? Is the bottom string an octave + 1 semitone below a standard B string?
Yeaa I have no need to use much A as bottom string but use Bb a lot. Apart from that I still play the normal tuning (just drop C) but my opinion is that each bass / guitar player has to find tune suiting him but not to learn techniques to suit the standard tuning used by most musicians. In the end this what make you different from others, and of course the skill. Isn't it?
3. 135s are cool gauge. Sound powerful enough (depends what music your band play). Have been playing it for a while. Then decided to magnify the tone and it worked. I use a bit special tuning that is most convenient for me. Bb – C – G – C – F – Bb
4. Yea 175, 135, 105, 85, 65, 45. That's a killer set that works freakin' perfect for my tone. I used to play 135s but when switched to 175s .. My goodness it was like driving Harley after Yamaha

7. Could not even think that discussion will go that way!! Don't get me wrong fellaz. I show big respect to some bassists playing picks relatively. As I mentioned in my 2nd post, my concern is why many bassists prefer to play easy down tempo music with a pick. Because its cooler, more respective etc... that was all about it. I just wanted your opinion on that. And thanks for sharing your thoughts. Whoever is offended let's go for a pint of extra cold one))
8. Low End Bee I am pretty sure you relate those few exclusions
9. For all my music life I’ve seen so many bassists playing slow beat music with a pick, and I questioned myself plenty of time, why do they do that? I can understand when some music genres (e.g. death metal) mostly require a bassist to play 16[sup]th[/sup] and 32[sup]nd[/sup] notes which might be a bit too fast for fingers. As for soundung itself, a decent effect pedal board or processor can turn a bass sound into any tone wanted. So IMO finger play is more respected, apart from few exclusions. No offence to pick-style bassists
10. StveK, thanks for warm welcome. Heard a lot about this chat. Eventually joined. Also hello to all comrads and fellaz here \\m// \\m//
11. Playing bass with a pick or fingers which gives more groove? which shows you are more talented? which is more respected?
