Personally the weight of the head isn't an issue for me - I like the fact they're not just going as small and featherweight as possible but putting some nice design thought into the look. The cabs is where (for me) weight saving makes the most sense, especially as there are so many great sounding lightweight options these days (and as you say @la bam, Laney did it themselves with their last range!). I'm still very tempted by the 500W head and the 2x12 cab for me new projects, but I may choose a different route altogether if I even change anything in my rig...

The RM heads have two speakon/jack combi sockets so I’d be mighty surprised if the combo didn’t use the same. The RM EVO II cabs are two speakon/jack combi sockets as well

The combo will be fine for rehearsals. Gives you plenty of time to save for a matching second cab Ideally you’d want to match the same range as the design will be the same; as I said before any mix an match (even same manufacturer and driver size but different speakers/cabs) will have different frequency and phase responses.

Maybe the new Trace cabs will suit… hope they’re lightweight as (for me) a lighter cab is more importanterer than a light amp. What’s the point of a lightweight head if the cabs are heavier than the sun?

Option 1: You’ll get around 300W into the internal speaker. Best thing is to go for the 1x15 RM can to match as it is the same. Plenty on here about the potential issues with mixing different drivers/driver sizes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s a lottery. Option 2: I like the OriginAL 500 head, it’s lovely. Less bells and whistles than the RM so it’s really a toss up on what you want the amp to do. For example the drive and compression on the RM head both give the tone something “more” in the mix. FWIW, I’d be looking at the RM800 which @FinnDave is selling on here. You’ll never need anything else power wise. EDIT for link:

Interesting that he’s said 1200W and I was told by Peavey last week that it was 1100W. 1200 makes more sense given the name. *of course 1200W class D probably means it’ll “feel” like around 600W class AB. In my very humble, fully educated and intelligent opinion 😜

Some CTMs have been made in China… my swimming pool one was 🙂 Most are UK built though.

I’m 95% sure there’s no tube at all, it’s just emulation; the spec sheets don’t make any reference to a valve type and normally you’d expect that to be shouted from the rooftops. Certainly the preamp pedal doesn’t, so I’d be surprised if they’d separately developed that without. Happy to be proven wrong though… I’m seriously toying with the idea of the 500W head and 212 cab as my new “big rig” for a new band….

No idea TBH. Ashdown still build their flagship amps and cabs in the UK and I suspect when Barefaced join the market they will too. But no idea about Laney…
