  1. Hmmm…. Do I sense a whiff of BS… I would definitely look to swap it.
  2. Is this what Fender did around 2005 with the S1 switching? If so, it used to work a treat on my Jazz and certainly provided way more depth when engaged. Then add an old set of flats......!
  3. I have been asked if the frets are original - I certainly believe they are. There is no evidence of disturbed fingerboard as far as I can see.
  4. Fender Mustang Bass made in 1972 in an original and well used condition, with plenty of bumps, bruises, dings, paint checking and discolouration. The blue finish has turned to a petrol green colour but the original colour can be seen under the bridge, neck pocket and pickguard. A previous owner had used glue under the pickguard to try and prevent warping and shrinkage (not the first time I have heard of this being done!) but thankfully most of the original paint remains, albeit somewhat messy. There are two areas where the top layer of the pickguard has split around two screws but it is still secure and does not go through the other 2 plys. The ink stamps date the bass to 1972 and the pots to 6th week, also 1972. The frets are in good shape, the fingerboard has some very nice grain and the truss rod turns freely in both directions. The tuners work well but have some tarnishing as expected, likewise the bridge which still has the facility to add foam mutes if required. The tug bar has a split and only one screw but is the original reddish coloured version. I have always liked the red shadow these leave on light coloured pickguards! It has a new set of La Bella MUS flatwounds which really do suit the bass and ensure a decent low end thump! The bass weighs in at a mere 3.25kgs or 7 and a bit pounds. Sadly I have discovered that short scale basses are just not for me and will stick to long scale but no doubt in a few years when I am even more decrepit, I’ll regret letting this go! To ensure any prospective buyer is happy, I would much prefer this to be a collection only. I would also much prefer a straight sale but would be willing to consider a lower priced Precision or Jazz as a part exchange. Please feel free to ask for any further information!
  5. I think that is an interesting option.....and probably the best option as a backup for the tort. I’ll order one and next time I change the strings (in a few years knowing me!) I’ll change the pickguard and it will feel like a new bass day all over again!
  6. Markbass gig bag / carry case for LM heads. The head can be kept / used in the carry case as both ends can be unzipped. Carry handle only, no backstraps included. Zipped front pocket for leads etc. Fair overall condition and still very secure and useable. £28.50 includes postage to most areas.
  7. Perhaps energy company executives and managers could be the new decorators!
  8. As reported in Guitar.com yesterday. Many levels of staff and management involved and with around 300 employees laid off, that is equivalent to an ‘entire afternoon shift’. Very sad day for those employees. It will be interesting to see what happens to stock levels and development, hopefully nothing too untoward.
  9. Not helpful!!! 😁 I have 3 problems, one of which (can you guess which one?) sadly makes it impossible at the moment; 1 - I accidentally bought a Maruszczyk last week 2 - I have two Jazz basses up for sale and I really should sell one of those before buying another bass 3 - The wife is around this weekend
  10. It’s great - as expected with PJB gear. I find that I need to boost the bass and mid frequencies to get real depth but just love the overall silence (no fan or hum noise) when using it at home.
  11. And it is very nice one! 😃 Not American Elite though! 🥲
  12. If I hadn’t just bought a PJB Double Four, I would snap this up! GLWTS
  13. Stupid thought time - apologies in advance! The thread has been responding to tone but what about the effect of gauge on action action? I always find I can set the action lower when using flats as opposed to rounds.....is that generally because of the extra tension, meaning less vibration? Then, would it follow that using an identical brands 105s compared to 90s, you can set the action lower due to the extra heft and possibly increased tension, meaning less vibration? I appreciate there would need to be nut/neck/saddle tweaks to get the best possible results but do wonder if anyone has noticed the ability to go to a lower action with heavier strings? As I said in the opening.....stupid thought time!
  14. That makes me feel very old! I genuinely have at least 5 pairs of shoes older than you! 🤣
  15. I think (but could easily be wrong!) it would have been third in line behind the American Vintage Reissue and American Deluxe series basses.
  16. I’m very late to this topic but did briefly have two early Metro Expresses. One JJ and one hybrid. Both suffered from excessive hum, poor finishing (pickguard to control plate gaps) and very poorly finished frets. So much so that if I had been asked to do a blindfold test on a £99 Harley Benton I had at the time and a ME, I would have thought the rough fret ends belonged to the HB, not the ME. The HB had way better finished frets. I also didn’t like the massive increase in volume when switching from passive to active - personal thing - but haven’t experienced the same issue with Shukers or some Fenders I’ve owned. The best thing about them was probably the gig bag. Very disappointing and not what I expected from Sadowsky or RSD as they were labelled. I’m sure (hope) the later versions are better.
  17. I had one of these MIJ Geddy’s, it was a great Bass with a very slim neck. GLWTS.
  18. Did you buy yours new? Feel free to give in to the temptation!
