1. Bugger 1 String missing. A beautiful example of Mr Walsh's work. Good luck with the sale.
2. Heard this Rig up in Moffat a few weeks back and it is superb. The Cabs are really well made and look the part. A steal at that price IMHO. Good luck with the sale Steve. Someone will be very happy.
3.
Wow!! That is a seriously nice and tasty looking bass - ticks all my boxes. Which model is that, BTW? I've been looking for something similar - all the way up to a Sandberg Cali JM4. Either that, or butcher a perfectly nice Jazz bass with a humbucker. Cool Ian
Tis a GB74 if i'm not mistaken. The most underrated bass on the planet. They make the G&L Tribute Series, Lakland Skyline, some Ibanez and Fender Guitars and I wouldn't mind betting the make the new Musicman series.
4.
Hi Alex Thanks for the advice, but I believe I've already tried essentially what it is you're suggesting. The original fuse was glass, so I bought some ceramic anti surge ones from Farnell (I'm pretty sure they're what you're referring to). However, I had no luck with these either. That's the extent of my technical expertise, and I don't want to potentially worsen the situation by opening it up, so I thought it best to send it off. Here's hoping the repair bill isn't too hefty.
If Dave Perry's experience with Proel is anything to go by, "don't panic". He was having problems with his MB head, (quite and old one), that was eventually traced to the speakers. Proel checked the head over, gave a clean bill of health, and sent it back FOC.
5.
MB1. That Mark Bass head is looking a bit lost in there Stuart! BUMP.
It's all nice and snug back in it's case now Martin, so no need to worry
6.
Thanks! A friend is looking for a seperate cab to run with a 210 so this might be ideal..
Checked the Speaker and there isn't any info at all as to Impedance and Power Rating. Have contacted Carlsbro Support for the answer and will post as soon as I know. Guy i spoke to is pretty sure it is a 150W 8 Ohm Carlsbro Powertone speaker which he is sure are made for Carlsbro by Celestion. he has gone off to confirm.
7.
What are the specs on this; cab size, power rating, resistance etc?
It is a Carlsbro Bass Bomber. Dimensions (HxWxD)mm: 650 x 540 x 345 Will have to remove the speaker to check, but I believe it is a Carlsbro Powertone 150W. Not sure of impedance, will have a butcher's tommorow.
8. I believe this cab started it's life as a Carlsbro Bass Bomber Combo. The Amp has been removed leaving a 2U wide rack slot at the top. Had planned to either use it as 1) Practice Cab 2) Install an Amp and use as a Combo for Small Gigs or 3) Put another Horn in the rack slot and use it for On Stage monitoring. As usual plans change and it is now in the way. It cost me £30 + delivery, but it's in the way so £25 and it's yours. It's worth that for the Speaker and Hardware alone if you don't want the Cab. The MarkBass head IS NOT INCLUDED
9. PM'd re 3.4 Set of 2 Gotoh "Cosmo" Black Dome Barrel Knobs w/Grub Screws - £4
10.
all part are still in they packets 2X fender concentric vintage part £18 plus 1.20 P&P or one for 10
Do you know the value(s) of the Pots or part numbers so I can do a search?
11.
I was recommended to webstrings by a friend from another forum, and I wondered if anyone else has used them? Seem pretty good value at $11 a set for stainless rounds and $17 for flats, even with $12 shipping.. I've got a couple of sets on the way to try.
I've ordered from them in the past and they are great. The strings are really good and I suspect from reading between the lines, they are Ernie Balls. They marked the value down on the Customs Declaration as well, so paid less Import Duty.
12. High end gear - are we kidding ourselves? Alan, probably. I rehearsed with a Jazz/Fusion band I've just joined in a real flea-pit of a room. Backline provided....................... Turned out to be an old H&H PA head and a 2x10 Cab that was that battered you couldn't tell what make it was, (although I suspect Peavey) Sounded absolutely bloody awesome and that was with the cheapest bass in my collection. Even the other band members made comments. I felt like trying to "borrow" the rig as there was so much stuff, they would never have noticed. (and then flog all the other basses I have )
13. This One? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=72105&hl=Molan
14. Forum Rules state you need to include a price. Pics would be good too.
15.
I'm probably going to live to regret this,
Yep, I reckon you will. I've got a Blueburst/Maple one and it ain't goin nowhere. Got me out of a hole many a time. Good Luck with the sale Pete and that's a great price.
16. In as new condition. Bought when I was playing in a Pub Rock band and used for about 3 months until I left. Had little or no use since. Have been in covers from new. Boxed and pretty sure they are still under guarentee. Last few on e-Bay went for £580-590. I am looking for £550 including the covers. These really are amazing speakers. We used 4 of them paired up on T-Bars, (got those as well if you are interested). 3 facing out to the audience and 1 facing backwards for monitoring. Technical stuff is here: http://www.rcf.it/c/document_library/get_f...;groupId=216492
17.
If Dan does move on we could have another quality player in the bass marketplace. Remember when Leo left Fender, we got MusicMan and the Stingray, and when he left MM we got G&L and the L1000 and its siblings. This could be a good thing no? One bad thing about the takeover is the "renaming" of the signature models, how bland are a bunch of numbers?
So look out for "Dan Lakin Designs", just like Mike Tobias.
18. There was someone after a B2 brianliverpool? Might be worth checking the Wanted Section
19. This morning I went to pick up all the stuff I bought from the auction yesterday and it may happen again. Apparently a large number of people got carried away with the bidding and didn't notice, (or conveniently forgot), the 15% Buyers Fee and then 17.5% Vat on top and are saying they won't pay..... Phillip Davies are unsure of what to do, but they may do another one. You would need to be local though as they said they wouldn't package stuff up, it had to be collected. Also Card payments have to be in person and CHAPS transfers cost a load.
20. I did OK and only live 15 mins away. Some really stupid bidding though. They lowered the reserve overnight on anything that didn't have a bid. That got my interest, It looks like they got Reverb's mailing list, (which would include Sound Control). They got in touch with me via an old e-mail address I don't use now.
21. Russ, Where were you last week-end???? Thought you were doing Moffat and we could have had a chat about this project. If you PM me some contact details and i'll give you a call and talk it through. I may just be up for it.... Cheers, Stuart
22.
Hey, is this still available? Also is it based on the mag enclosure or the abm? Guessing abm from this angle but I'm not sure.
As the first owner of the cab I can confirm it is it's an ABM 15. Stunned that it is still around as it is a stonkin cab at a give away price. You couldn't buy the driver for that price.
23. PM'd
24. What a great week-end. Nice to be able to put faces to names and there was some seriously great playing on Sunday. Thanks to Alan and Dave for organising it and to the "visiting" musicians for the House Band and the Theory session. Seriously impressed with Rich's Pingray considering it was built from a box of bits.
