1. This looks like a very nice bass but surely not in the price bracket that the seller is expecting. I have a glorious 1984 USA Precision which would struggle to get near the £1000 mark in the current economic climate let alone £1450. Some say that the quality of the JV precision would surpass the USA offering of the same period but I would not in a month of Sundays swap my 84 for a JV. It seems to be so difficult to value instruments at the present time but I suppose something is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
2.
Not enough, obviously.
I am getting the impression that you aren't in the Fender cheerleading squad. I also wonder how many times you can get this point across that you have a problem with the 'F' word. Maybe Fender aren't as innovative as some other manufacturers but they know their market and they know what will sell. There are also one or two of us who are quite happy that they aren't innovative. So, yes it may be boring to someone who doesn't like Fender and their line-up of instruments. But why bother to repeatedly say it. When you see 'Fender' in the title of the thread just ignore it and don't get yourself all hot and bothered.
3. Just ignore me. I see that there were two versions of the Telecaster bass. One from 68-71 which had the single coil and one from 71-79 which had the big humbucker. Mystery solved!
4. Can you just confirm something because I an obviously getting my pickups mixed up here. I understood a 70s Telecaster bass to be a different animal than the 50s precision bass. The Telecaster bass, I thought, had a big chrome covered humbucker type pickup located near the neck. Is this the type of pickup which you have fitted to your bass in place of the original? Or have you fitted a single coil pickup similar to the original but a beefed up version? Sorry to have to ask it's just that I'm not sure as to what title is applied to what pickup.
5. Stunning photography Anndra and not just for the obvious reasons!
6. Let's be kind here and give our new friend a wee bit of time to price this beauty.
7. PM sent.
8. I hope that the re-introduction of the DJ4 makes the 1st generation DJs more collectable!
9. They are the Daddy. The absolute Daddy!
10. Not an unreasonable price at all but it is the middle of December with Christmas approaching and we are in the middle of a dreadful economic malaise. Maybe these things have got something to do with it. Hopefully someone can shake off the above reasons and grab themselves a nice bass. All the best!
11. Just because you mentioned it I played an American Special and it was very nice. I beleive this is what has taken over from the Highway One.
12. Everyone should also remember that price is not up for discussion or comment. You like the bass, you pay what the seller asks. If you don't have the money you don't buy the bass. But you don't question what the seller is asking unless you send a pm.
13. Where in London are you based?
14.
Thank-you Sir! How's life treating you in the far north?
Fine thanks my friend. I'm glad I made the move up here apart from stupid couriers charging extra cos they think I live in the Highlands and Islands. Best of luck with the sale!
15. Having traded with Anndra in the past everybody should feel very confident that the bass is exactly as it appears in these superb shots. Thorough gentleman to deal with. Have no worries all you Ric 4003 owners!
16. If it's your bass then you can do what you like with it, just never let it see the light of day.
17. I just don't understand why ebay don't do anything when an auction is reported as obviously being a wrongun. Is it at all possible that they contact the seller and buyer and try to resolve the issue without anyone else knowing. It really does dent any confidence I would have in buying anything of value from ebay.
18. I always think that it helps a sale to post pics here as opposed to email. I may be wrong however. Best of luck with the trade/sale.
19. I was really quite happy with my stuff and not really coveting anybody else's bass until I saw a one-year old Precision for sale. I had fancied one of the new Amercian Standard Precisions to add to my other two precisions and when Mr. Zed was selling his 2010 sunburst and maple neck precision I kept going back to the ad. After some domestic negotiation the inevitable happened and the bass now resides in chez Hutton. What a cracker it is too!!
20. I saw Beverley Knight and her band playing Glasgow a couple of years ago. It was a great gig. Lots of energy and superb musicianship all round. The only problem was two bloody women who were standing behind me and talking incessantly about bugger all in particular all through the gig. Why did they bother paying money to go to the gig? They could have sat at home with a box of maltesers and talked until their tongues were frayed at the edges.
21. Extremely nice bass Rick. However, I preferred it without the relic treatment.
22. I have a recollection from the 70s or it was maybe early 80s of Suzi giving away one of her basses to be auctioned for a TV charity event. It might have been the early days of children in need. Anyway, Suzi's ok with me. I was a teenager in the 70s when she was rampaging around in tight leather. Enough said!

How much?

I'm getting confused. Is this thread about someone selling a bass, if so, then a price should now be stated. If it's a discussion about values, which I quite like the look of, then should it not shift to 'Basses' or 'General Bass Discussion'?
24. My go to bass is my 62 reissue.
