  1. I know that. The info I offered was the luthier that changed the fretboard, why it was changed and the significance of the inlay. I also included before and after photos. I thought all of this info would be appreciated by the new owner. However, as I say I wish I hadn’t bothered and I will take this thread as a learning curve. Sorry for taking up bandwidth unnecessarily.
  2. I’m sorry I bothered. If I could delete the post I would. I was just concerned that’s all. I was in fact providing information on a bass currently for sale on Bass Bros that I had once owned. The info was all part of the history of the bass that had been converted from fretted to fretless by having the board changed. I thought that history was meant to help sell a bass and that sellers and new owners wanted provenance. But hey, I won’t do that again.
  3. I’m not actually buying a bass.
  4. So sad to hear this news. I did business with Nick and exchanged messages over the years. A great ambassador for Basschat and all things low end. Rest easy my friend.
  5. Ok. I just need a bit of patience.
  6. I’m not doubting the service given by Bass Bros. I’m merely enquiring if anyone knows if there is a reason why I haven’t had a response from last week? I also have received good service in the past. This post is not intended as a criticism.
  7. Does anyone know if everything is ok at Bass Bros. I sent three messages including an email over the last three days and haven’t had a response.
  8. Thanks Matt. I am electronically challenged.👍
  9. I have been gifted a wireless setup and am liking it. My question is I want to use my Boss TU-2. I don’t use any other pedals and wondered can I connect the TU-2 in the effects loop of the amp. Will it work whilst I continue to use my wireless setup.
  10. When you say your location is North East is that England or Scotland?
  11. For those of you who like cases I have a question. Why do the guitarists get all the cool colours for their Fenders. They get denim, navy blue, red, surf green, wavy checkerboard, and pink. We get pink - that's it just pink. I have a surf green American original 60s precision. How cool would it be to have a surf green case to match. So why do the guitarists get all the colours and we don't. It's time to petition Fender for an answer to this question and to chain ourselves to the railing until we get satisfaction.
  12. 2004 Fender American Standard Jazz bass with S1 switch.
  13. Great replies for which I am very grateful. This has to be the best forum on the internet. No question is ever treated as irrelevant and no member is made to feel stupid. I love this community.
  14. I have just purchased a Jazz bass which is strung with 50-105 gauge strings. I want to fit my preferred strings (TI flats) which are 43 - 100. Is it going to be likely that I will need a new nut?
  15. Aw, that’s too bad. My wife and I live in Aberdeen but we’re travelling south for a family get together this coming Friday. Have a great time gigging in Scotland.
  16. Where are you playing up here?

  18. Here’s my USA Lākland case containing my 2016 44-64
  19. You make a very good point my friend.👍
  20. I am getting a bass delivered to me today. It is a 2004 American Jazz with polyurethane finish. I have read conflicting viewpoints as to the necessity of not opening the box for 24 hours after delivery to let the bass acclimatise to the temperature change. I believe it is more relevant not to unbox if the finish is nitrocellulose but not so vital if the finish is polyurethane. Any thoughts on this folks?
  21. I would normally say black but the reverse headstock seems to need cream.
  22. I have been a member since the Bassworld days before we became Basschat. In all these years I have only experienced good advice, helpful and informed answers to queries, useful tips, great buying and selling, and good humoured banter amongst the community which is an important part of my daily living. Thank you everybody and long may we reign!
  23. I was thinking about subscribing to the new Bass Review Magazine. I had looked at the website at the weekend and was sure that the subscription for a paper copy delivered to your door was £5.99. When I went back to the website today I notice the price is £6.99. My ageing memory may be failing me but I wondered if anyone else can throw light on the pricing.
