1. I've had LaBella Jamersons on my old Precision for about 6 years now and they get better all the time - very meaty! I'm trying Rotosound 77's (110) set on my other p and after a few months I'm not really enjoying them.
2. I believe import duties are covered by it
3. Tried it once, tracked my delivery (a BDDI) all the way to the parcel depot up the road, then they reckoned they couldnt find my address, so I tracked it all the way back to an upset seller in the US. Fault was with the delivery people this side, so I'd say the system is ok.
4.
As with others, in no particular order, my favourite 10 bassmen: 1. Norman Watt-Roy (The Blockheads) 2. JJ Burnel (The Stranglers) 3. Bruce Foxton (The Jam) 4. Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) 5. Mark 'Bedders' Bedford (Madness) 6. Colin Moulding (XTC) 7. Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) 8. Dennis Dunaway (Alice Cooper) 9. Paul McCartney (The Beatles, Wings, on his tod) 10. James Jamerson (Motown) I could probably have stretched another 10 easily but it's the fellows above that I played along to when I was learning.
If the list could be longer, your 5 and 8 would be my 11 and 12!!!
5. Keith Ferguson Johnny B Gayden Norman Watt-Roy Tommy Shannon Dee Dee Ramone Jack Newhouse Billy Cox Dusty Hill Duck Dunn Preston Hubbard
6. Flats, pick, palm muting - Joe Osborn style. Doesn't get any more 60s than that for me.
7. I really liked the 2 that I had apart from the weak G string. Are they all like that??
8. Old thread revival......anyone got this?
9. Bump
10. As new and boxed. £30 + £5 postage in UK.
11. Can't believe this is still around. These are great amps
12. Roto 66's for rounds, LaBella 110's for flats.
13. My 78 Precision is still the best bass I've ever played. There were some great late 70's Fenders even though it wasn't their best era.
14. There's nothing wrong with that bass. The best upgrade you could make is with the strings. It will make the world of difference depending on the tone you are after - slap / cutting punk, try steel rounds - punchy blues or R&B, go for heavy flats. The difference will be night and day. Don't waste you cash on bridges, tuners, pickups - you've got a good bass there, the difference those changes will make will be minute, especially in a band mix.
15. 51 re-issue and my gorgeous 78. Both strung with heavy flats.
16. Sad news. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120716/ENT09/207160405/1361/Motown-bassist-and-Funk-Brother-Bob-Babbitt-dies-at-74
17. Definitely listen to Keith Ferguson on the first 4 Fabulous Thunderbirds albums. Also the stuff he did with the Solid Senders (if you can find it!)
18. Sad news. Along with Jamerson, he wrote the book.
19. No response so I assume this is sold / no longer for sale?
