1. I love mine. Strung with heavy flatwounds, that single coil has an unmistakable thump! Check out the early Fabulous Thunderbirds recordings - the intro to Rich Woman is the tone!

 8.
Bad QC? Part of bass culture, EB and Fender being the leading proponents
Never had a QC problem with EB or Fender flats - Ive had problems with 3 sets of LaBella...... I too find TI's way too slack. Ive got EB 110's on my Precisions, including strung through on a 51 RI and a 2002 - 78 through the bridge.
 9.
my old bass! (I owned it for 18 months)I miss this and I'd have most likely been looking to buy it back if I didnt just buy a L-2000 the other day off the same basschatter who sold me this Asat. This bass is lighter than the hollow body Asat I had at the same time and plays great as you say.Obviously it sounds powerful too with the G&L tri-tone electronics. I used this and a MM Sterling with an INXS tribute band a couple of years back and the band unanimously preferred the tone of this one. I always loved the front binding and the beautiful finish - its a great piece. good luck with the sale.
Cheers mate - just trying to get it moved to the right part of the forum!!! Sad to see it go, but Ive got the urge for another Jazz.......
 10.
http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music...sp?id=3860-4334 quite cheap, anyone has one?
Ive got that exact one - no problem at all. The handles aren't an issue (how heavy can you make a 3u???).
 11. or do what i did, pull one of the valve channels out of a 1960's era reel to reel tape deck -- Ha! I had this set up as a teenager on top of a homemade 2x15 - happy days!
 12. Keith Fergusons 51 Precision - used on all the early Fabulous Thunderbirds stuff. Same bass, restored, refinished and still being gigged!
 13.
Yes I would, but I'd only recommend it for quieter fat sounds or louder overdriven rock sounds. It's not a rig for fat high SPL bottom. Alex
Fair enough......which cab would you pair with the V4BH to get the best out of it? Im talking P Bass with flats, blues/soul/r&b sounds....
 14.
They're completely different designs. The HLF uses high excursion woofers with little midrange, lower sensitivity and higher excursion limited power handling in a large ported enclosure, whilst the HE is basically half an SVT 8x10" - a small sealed cab with much lower excursion limited power handling, less bottom and more midrange. The HLF is definitely tuned higher than 28Hz and the HE isn't 'tuned' as it's a sealed cab. I've noticed some bassists buy the 410HLF hoping for the classic Ampeg sound in a smaller box than an 8x10". Unfortunately it sounds nothing like it. The 410HE does sound like half an 8x10" but because it has half as many speakers and doesn't have ports to help out on the bottom like most 4x10"s it can't move all that much air before starting to distort. Fine at lower SPL or if you're more midrange focused in your tonal leanings. And unfortunately you can't rewire a 4 ohm cab to 8 ohms or vice versa! Alex
So having said that, would you say that the 410HE is more suited to a 100w valve head (Ampeg V4BH) than the HLF?
 15. Ernie Ball 110's on my 78P and 51RI - tweak the truss rod and you're away. Great thump from these, the 51 feels and sounds just fantastic with this set up
 16. This has it all - groovy hippy chicks, Hells Angels, cool slide guitar and Larry 'The Mole'. THIS, all you Jacoesque slappers, poppers with too much treble, is BASS A little Mississippi noise.........
