No, that was an 'American Traditional' series J - I remember it well as I have one just like it, In fact its about to go up for sale. These have the USA serial number (N9)on the face of the headstock and the 'American Traditional' logo. originally one piece scratchplate, but most (mine included) changed to standard scratch and control plate - great basses.
