Its funny what we think of as a long way for gigs etc. I have some friends in a band in Texas, and they think nothing of driving 100-150 miles for a regular bar gig, to be paid a lot less than pub bands here demand (quite often just for tips)!! Im not slating John - we're all like it. Mind you, we have got some choice traffic/roads/fuel costs to contend with........i would be lucky to get out of London by road in time for a gig during the week!!

    Try "crossing the border" to Essex - Tue nights at the Essex arms in Brentwood, the Hot Hob Jam - some wicked blues musicians get in there.

    I think they're really lame now and seem to just go through the motions. Although a brilliant blues harp player, i think Mark Felthams playing has become too refined for what was the NBZ style of old. Gerry is a wicked bass player - check out some of the old Rory Gallagher stuff!

    C/S by Los Carnales. Some of the greasiest blues Ive heard in a long time. Bass player is Preston Hubbard, one time Fabulous Thunderbird (after Keith Ferguson) - well worth a listen.
