  1. I'd go wood... softer than the body and neck... more of a compression deform 'Gasket' rather than a harder wood or plastic that would be more 'Spacer'... Also don't like or see the need for the plastic shield on a neck plate.
  2. The neck on mine (Aria Pro II) was defo more Jazz... 38mm at the nut. And with 60mm at the bridge, quite a taper...
  3. Nut can usually accommodate a little change, as brands may also differ in thickness... So if you have gone from a std 45-65-85-105 Rounds to say a 45-65-80-100 Flats... Check for a twisted string, do you wind a wind round the peg by hand, this can introduce a twist... slacken off a string, pull down to the bridge and see if you can un-turn half a turn at the ball end... Witness points, tune- up and a light press - lighter with flats - at the bridge and nut contact points. Saddles, got any silk over the saddle? If the above don't fix it, trip back with a razor blade, although this may expose a rough join...
  4. Sweet Short Scale Project for the winter nights... cheeky £50 offer? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/151463874705573
  5. I think the BBOT bridge on my Aria Jazz Modder is 20... certainly feels wider than the norm.. i'll check and get some dim's as dunno if the back 5 screws are F spaced, although it has 2 up front... Little grooves for the saddles... I can do a bridge swap or cheap £ to just replace... postage?
  6. Todays progress is fuelled by Nescafé Dolce Gusto, Americano Intenso -Short, Black and Cremá Bit of Dremmel action... ...some of that anti-gravity paint... Back in the game!..
  7. <back to the build / modder thread>
  8. Inspired by the motivational comment by @Hellzero... and the contemplation of foresight offered by @tauzero Supported by my new sponsor, over the course of a couple of hours,I made a mess on the living room floor... half watching some Moto2 from Aus... Too late for the Dremel... and Remember, Do not operate Power Tools when 'moderate'... stick to a wobbly-whirly... As for what went wrong? Zero!.. see what i did there!
  9. Mmm... what could possibly go wrong?.. Let's 'ave some 'oles... I might be a while....
  10. Hold my Beer... were goin' in Armed only with a wobbly-wirry and a 7mm flat bottom drill, biggest that will go in the wobbly's chuck... Oh for a pillar drill... Might be a while taking all these down 8mm...
  11. Anyone BR6ish with a router and knows how to use it? Help!.. Need a Channel routed in a pickup cavity x2 - 18mm-ish wide, length of existing cavity, to a depth of 8mm... ...so i can fit Extra Deep, Stack Coil Jazz Pickups... channel is to take the lower coil, not for the cover. ...to look like this when finished... ...and save me, and the Bass from this kinda thing...
  12. Gloss black is often a problem... I like the idea of flattening to matte with a couple more grades of sandpaper... Then i'd leave it... even matte lacquer can spot and ripple... What about the headstock end? I've had a few decals done via the bay... so much easier than eaterslides...
  13. Snag City, Arizona!.. Pickups are a monster 27mm deep in their covers - Cavity is 18mm deep... So I need a channel routed about 8mm deep - to allow for a bit of wire-out, bit of thin foam and some height adjust room for the pickups... 18mm wide - for the lower winding to fit in, but with the pickup cover ears to screw on to the ledge - and the Length of the existing cavity - to allow for the pickup wire-out and down the hole to the control cavity... Woke up in a Cold Sweat recalling my last attempt... Gonna put out a plea for someone to save me, from myself... Gotta get this sorted as i'm in £ for the pickups and donor SR... plus it's going to look and hopefully sound and play soooooo good!
  14. ^ and if their is an issue GG may give you an idea!.. Sounds like the perfect plan... although before ya spend, i'd be looking second hand local or on here... Bang for 80' Shillings and all that Before ya go... still no pictures?.. there are rules ya know... Never knew Woody Allen played bass...
  15. More likely the spring contacts inside the barrel - don't think the contacts are accessible to close up... Active? Stereo Jack as a Switch?
