Would like to get this SWR WorkingMan's 12 combo up and running. Anyone with any info, circuit diags, known issues... I thin their is 2 versions over the years.. 1 before SWR were bought by Fender and 1 after... not sure what one i have, but it has the XLR on the Rear Panel, not the front. It has odd Modem-esq connectors between boards... removed em and can't remember (but have had an educated guess in joining the sections of board... Pre, Power, Output Connectors, PSU. Pics in the NAD post... It' been sat in the front room for about 10 months, shameful 😞

Might consider a wooden plate, maybe with the Thunderbird logo engraved and/or burnt in... or a nice bit of Suede... i'll keep an eye out in charity shops 😉 Lot of faff... might just go for a little sticker or decal. Currently undergoing a Route Mod for a pickup swap...

@binky_bass saw a T'Bird in CackConverters, and posted a thread... I had a hearty Spag Bol, Garlic Flat Bread, and half a bottle of cheap Malbec, so was a bit vulnerable... Next thing i know Russian Activists hacked my brain via Stolichnaya Vodka, they no longer need mobile phones and computer viruses, they can attack at the Alcohol/Molecular Level... who knew?... so be careful. T P-Bird Pro, Thru Neck, Improved Bridge, Active Model in Natural Finish... But, the Pickups in the Active Model are Low-Alcohol, Half-Fat models at 7k rather than a Proper-Pint, Double-Cream 14k versions of the passive model. Oh What to do?.. a quick search of the classifieds turned up @mike 110 and a DiMarzio Model 1... A 'Match' made by the Hard-of-Hearing! So going Single Mudbucker at the Neck/Mid Position, Empty Cavity at the Bridge, A500k Vol, and Pure Tone Jack Socket and will be wearing Olympia Stainless Steel Flatwounds. Cavity is 92mm, Pup 90mm so reasonable fit, maybe a shim of veneer?, Width is gonna need a 4mm chiselin' a side to go from 40mm to 48 for the coils, String / Pole spacing is a little tight at 48mm, 52mm would be Bang-On for the Neck/Mid position, 'spose they are meant for a more up against the fretboard fitting. Might need some wood blocks glued in for the pickup mounting screws. Putting the Thunder back in Thunderbird...

Nope.. If it is still open i'd just run a bit of stretched tin copper wire soldered across the pot cases to the jack socket... leave a little S in the wire where it joins the next, just in case a pot or the jack works loose. 'Prolly no need for a re-wire...

@samuelcroberts Yep... But, Ground Connection via the Plate Foil... then usually the pots 'n jack are mounted with Serrated Star Washers... that eat thru the foil. So might explain the intermitancy. I'd rewire but include the pot earth links or TCW Busbar... Jack? Go for a Pure Tone Multi Contact... Clunk! they feel the nuts, game changer!

Non-Piezo, just a polished saddle insert It's fully stripped, for a deep clean and maybe a light sand. And there is a route to ease the front pup wiring under the scratchplate, so that puts the kibosh on going No Plate or Clear Plate

I'd first take a look at whats close on Facebook and Gumtree... Bargains to be had...

If in doubt... without... Why would anyone add a pickguard that is mainly there to cover the pickup and control wirings routing, when they have gone to the extra trouble of neat pickup routs and rear routed control cavity... makes no sense! 😉
