1. They were all serious rockers at heart. Saw the sadly departed Brian Connolly fronting his own band called Connolly. I think it was a Van Halen gig and they were supporting (memory going so may not have been VH) and they rocked. He could still do it. As musicians, Sweet were definately ahead of the game in their day.
 2. Try "Live art" or "Outbound" for a start. Fabulous live act too. Seen them three times now. Never been dissapointed. VW doesn't come over as the star in this band, he's just seems happy to be playing with them and the enjoyment really comes across on stage.
 3.
Sorry, price now added!
Sorry if that came over a tad austere. Welcome to BC. Sounds an interesting bit of kit. Good luck with the sale.
 4. Hi, Unless I've missed something, there appears to be no price. Rules of the forum state that you must include a price unless it's just for a trade.
 5.
One thing I'd never do is take another gig because it was paying more money though.
Have to agree here. If I've made a commitment, I follow it through. Even if it's a charity freebee. Currently in 4 bands (got out of Nos 5 & 6 recently) It works okay, have a Google diary that is shared between the bands. All the gigs go on it so at any point, anyone can see if a dep is needed and gets it sorted. Main band does about 20 a year, the others tot up about another 20 between them. Only went pear shaped once and ended up doing four in two days, but lucky as it was afternoon / evening on both days.
 6.
Me and my guitarist play the intro, it sounds better with both us playing it and its a chance to see who mucks it up.
We do it together too, sounds better like that. Re the gaps (I assume we're talking about the start of the verses and when the solo starts) We take the lead from whoever's singing (or playing the solo)as you only need to come in on a certain word or the fourth note of the solo. Hate the song but really gets a few on the dancefloor and singing along. (it's really called "Make me smile" (Come up and see me)
 7. Had an Avon SG copy in the early days. Apart from not staying in tune, it played fine. I would have had that for a bit of fun. Don't know about a profit though!
 8. Great to hear some nice positive news. Best wishes.
 9.
What about the nicest tits you've seen with some bass?
They're fakes, I think they're the ones that hang on the wall and sing "Be happy" when you walk past.
 10.
That's the nicest tits I've seen on any bass.
No no!! "They" are the nicest tits you've seen on a bass. (and I have to agree)
 11.
Yes, the thread title put me right off it too.
Bugger, just got in from a gig and thought I'd played some real music tonight!! The rest of the guys will be really dissapointed when I tell them it wasn't
 12.
There is a question that needs asking. Apart from 'How do I transfer funds to your bank account Snicks?' What is the reputation system for? What's its purpose? You can follow that up with... Will the way the function is instigated achieve that purpose? At present, the system encourages me to be slightly lazy and click the arrow rather than responding with words, something already pointed out. It also confuses the voting for post or voting for person issue - again something already pointed out. I've just looked and I see I have a score way beyond what looks like any sensible totting up of my 'reputation'. Which begs the question: What are we really measuring? What is reputation? Whose measure of reputation? Stuffed if I know. It just all seems a bit arbitrary to me. However, it's not meant to be taken seriously is it? So it doesn't matter really. And I've just wasted 5 minutes valuable snacking time. Rectifying as a I type... nom... nom... nom Wanders off muttering....What is food? Why am I eating now? What is its real purpose? Why does bread mould taste so awful?....
You start with, "There is a question that needs asking" and then, you asked eleven questions. I liked that, and will now push the appropriate button to make it known.
 13.
LMAO - Why am I reading that with an Inspector Clouseau voice thing going on in my head?
Damn you, I'm now trying to do that, but it keeps coming out like the Gestapo officer in Allo allo!!
 14.
BC members should be allowed to like their own posts as long as they click using their left hand after making it numb by sitting on it.
If I made my left hand numb, I'm not going to waste it on voting.
 15.
Yeah, but there's always the chance that I'm not joking which'd make it a triple bluff, but having just admitted that, it might be a quadruple bluff... or not.
So, the old quintuple bluff trick eh?
 16.
Can someone explain what this is actually about, 'cos I haven't the slightest idea . Likes and dislikes what ?
Beef & Onion Pukka Pies, keep up!!
 17.
Just as an experiment to see how many dislikes one person can get in the space of 24 hours... ...I'd like to make it clear that I would like to use my bass to create a new disease that eradicates fluffy kittens...
Everyone's going to "like" you now just to wind you up. So, the old double bluff trick eh?
 18. I have just voted to deactivate the system. Personally I can't see the point in anyone needing the opinions of members as to whether they like or dislike another member. That's surely just a personal view. If you dissagree with a post or someone's views, just say so! But that should make no difference to how you feel toward someone, especially if you've never met them. However, if this facility should remain in place, I'd just like to make it clear that I really like fluffy kittens and would like to use my bass playing to put an end to world conflict and all known diseases.
 19.
Erm well once one got one (Blondie) it just seemed right. Didnt want any of them to feel left out. You know how it is. Ive got problems havent I? (Curls up in a corner and rocks slowly back and forth muttering with a thousand yard stare ) A PS the GF calls them 'My Bitches'
Okay, that's cool, just as long as you're not propping them up in chairs and asking "what shall we talk about tonight?"
 20. For some reason, if I see My girl on a setlist, I will always start to play Stand by me. Done it for years. It just happens (and the other way round)
 21.
Oh this is such a good thread and the humour is as it should be . Slap and fingers are as valid as each other its just how and when you use them. You speak through your instrument. Your communicating, expressing etc etc. Its your voice. How hard it is depends on what level you want to achieve. To my ears that ratio should be 99.9% for fingers to 0.1% slap. Oh and now I suppose the fashion is for a small sig is it? Grrrrr suppose Ill have to start selling some basses. WOMEN FOR SALE. GET YOUR WOMEN HERE WHILE THEIR HOT.................. A
You gave ALL your basses names ?
 22. At one point, I was in 5 bands at the same time here. Funnily enough, the one that I wanted to be in the most, was the one that never really gigged and is currently falling to bits due to loss of keyboard player and everyone being too fussy about what we played and how we played it as we'd all been searching for "the" band that was going to satisfy us all in every department. As I've got older, I've decided to not just say yes all the time. I know I'm lucky to have all these opportunities to play as I would only pitch myself at average ability but it still has to be fun, musically satisfying and, whilst playing with people who's company I enjoy. Seems the hardest thing to do is to marry up all these requirements. Obviously a fair few of you manage to achieve this but I don't seem to. Best I can muster is that I do enjoy the company of those I do play with. The other points seem to be missing.
 23.
Ideally £200-250 tops unless there's something unmissable for a little more!
Although not the lightest stuff, the old Peavey 75-80 watt TK combos are great value for money. Usually about £100 (or less) Tough as old boots and reliable with quite a nice pallet of tones
 24.
Actually I should have said - its not the B string that gives me the problem - its A, D and G !!
Oh, them three/, just cut them off. Proper answer, stick with the 5.
 25. According to all the photographic evidence, when I'm playing a root and octave, my middle finger sticks right up straight and it looks like I'm deliberately giving everyone the "finger"
