Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.

Last Saturday. Need to smile more. -
I sold my fretless Jazz a while ago to fund an expensive fretted five string but wish I hadn't so a few weeks ago I defretted an early OLP 4 string that was hanging on the wall. I was bored and did it in about an hour. Very rushed and stupid I know but it worked out beautifully. I can't put it down. Will certainly buy a fretless Stingray when funds allow or maybe de-fret a SUB. Daft, as I sold one to KermitNT on here a couple of years ago. I love them. Especially as I'm in a band doing some laid back smooth stuff now.

Yup, I sing lead vox in 3 bands out of 5.

Ever played a bass and regreted not buying it?
leschirons replied to rolo79's topic in General Discussion
Never regret not buying them, just selling them. -
Assuming you're not all going to be sitting down on the front porch and banging you feet in time to a 3 string slide guitar, you could listen to some of the more rockier versions of stuff. Check out The L.A. Blues authority. The line up changes every album and they usually have lots of "guest" guitarists to give different slants on numbers.

Can't comment on the first two of your options but I do play a Euro 6 LX through neck. It has (had) the shiney bridge. This has suffered on the finish a little but does not really detract from the appealing looks. It just needs a regular wipe to get the acid off after use. The contoured body is an absolute joy. The balance, despite having what looks like the thickest neck in the universe is absolutely perfect with no dive at all. Mine has the EMGs and Spector tone-pump pre. This pre amp comes in for a lot of stick on here and a good few replace it. However, it just needs a little time to get to know. Once I'd adjusted the trim pot as the general output was too ground shaking on the E and B, it's so much better. I had sold an Fbass 5 string and was intending to buy the same in a six string and bought this as a stop gap. I will now keep it and forget about the BN6. The neck took a couple of weeks to get used to after the shallow job on the Fbass and now I'm a convert. The finish on these is fabulous, the coating has taken a few knocks and shows nothing. Sustain is pure Spinal Tap territory and any tone I want is there for the choosing. It came set up superbly but I still managed to get it lower. It has about the same action as my Strat now with no buzz anywhere. Can't praise them enough. Can't imagine what a £3,000 USA model must be like but these Euro LX models are great value for money, and real eye-catchers. If I had to choose between your options, I'd go for the Euro 5 LX. Greatest low B I've ever played, very even over all strings and will do everything you want it to. PS, If you do get the 5 string, make sure it comes with a Spector case. Nothing else really fits that well.
I hadn't heard much Govt Mule up until a year or so ago. They turned out to be much more musically adventurous than I'd expected, though still firmly rooted in the blues I found them refreshing to listen to. Don't recall seeing any UK live dates for them though which is a shame, seems one of those bands that really comes into its own in a live setting.
Saw them in Paris about 5 years ago. Absolutely brilliant. Warren Haynes has a great voice and Matt Abts is one of my all time fav drummers. A truly great, live band.

You've got quite a few cool choices there for a trio. I play with a couple of trios here and we try to choose stuff that's suited to the available instruments so there's not too much missing from the general sound of the number. You could try Little wing Born to be wild Sharp dressed man All the small things Basket case Tulsa time I can't stand the rain Mercy Peaceful easy feeling Pretty vacant Ever fallen in love 500 miles (I'm gonna be) Old man Honky tonk women Boom boom (out go the lights) Cliffs of Dover

VERY, VERY impressive. Wonder if he can he do it in F or G#

I got bought the Bill Milkowski biography for a present. Haven't started it yet but I could have it posted to you from the UK when our son goes back on the 21st if it helps. I would want it sent back though in same condition. Let me know if you want it sent. K
Hi all, I Play in the Rugby League's in stadium house band and we do all the major in stadium ents. This Nov Wales are playing Australia in the 4 Nations. We've been asked to propose some songs / bands with links to both countries. Can I get some suggestions of well known / popular songs etc?! It's a 4 piece band: 2 x guitar, drums, bass, 3 part harms and 1 guitarist also plays keys. I've already got AC/DC, INXS, Stereophonics, Manics ( Australia is the ideal song from them), Feeder, Super Furrys and Bee Gees etc I'm purposely ignoring Rolf, Waltzing Matilda etc! Any other decent suggestions? Cheers!
Down under? Men at work.
...and it comes down to needing to sell gear, what I want to know is, how do people decide which instruments to sell? For example, you have two different basses, similar resale value, and you're seriously attached to them both. But if you need to sell one to keep a roof over your head, how do you choose?
Probably some sort of mid-way decision between, which one I gig most and which one I could buy again for the same money I'm selling it for, when times get better.
-
A circut breaker would be a good idea and make sure that they're not using a bloody chip fryer in the house. They've killed about 6 gigs for me at restaurants. You'll need to wipe everything down afterwards as it'll likely get damp later in the evening. If your instruments do get a bit damp, give them a wipe over after the gig and leave the case open when you get home. Make doubly sure there is no-one there called "uncle George" he'll be the one that asks if it's going to be that loud all night when you first put the quiet background CD on. Have a good gig.

Started playing violin at 8 years old but got to 14 and realised that my older brother by 5 years was buying some seriously good music. Changed to drums for first band at 16. Moved onto guitar when drum kit was sold to scrape deposit for first house was a priority (1974) Stayed with that until a friend decided to form a band and the bass was the only slot available. Probably quite a common situation as everyone wanted to be a rock guitarist. Borrowed a bass, bought a Peavey combo, fell in love with it. I practiced, they didn't (individually) eventually left band due to frustration of no-one else wanting to improve their ability due to "people clapped so it must be good" syndrome.

Two weeks ago, chatting to a guy in another band. Me "Is so and so still in the band?" Him "Yeah but he's been demoted to bass"
Weekend Bump Do you think I'm asking too much - let me know guys. ? Cheers Dave
I don't think it's too expensive at all. Given it's condition, that's a great price. That's a good working rig for not a lot of money. Good luck. -
Was going to sell the head a while ago and changed my mind. Got something else a few months ago so now this is going. 100% perfect condition with CA foot switch and covers. No marks. Tubes all in tip top condition. It's a Soldano and Mesa killer. I'm in France but it's not a problem. We're regularly back to the UK to see family but if need be, I'll drive it over, see the kids at the same time and whoever buys it can make a little contribution towards the diesel assuming the meet / delivery is somewhere between say Dover and Hertfordshire (inc London) This can not be sent via a courier service. If you're looking at this I'll assume you know what it is and are aware of the quality of John Suhr's products. No doubt you all have a guitarist who wants one To buy something like this today costs around $4,000 and you've got to get it from the USA and pay the taxes. Here in Europe, cheapest I found was £3,600 for a new rig and just under £3,000 for a secondhand set up with no covers and a few scratches. Looking for £2,600 Thanks for looking.

If You Could Have 1 Hour With Any Living Bass Player.....?
I've been 'clean' for about 3 months I'm happy modding my Sue Ryder at the mo, spent the amazing total of £23 so far (accounting for 'disposals') and it seems to have saved me from spending hundreds by buying/selling. I keep seriously thinking about getting something Fenderish and vintage but this will end up being a cost neutral and downsizing excercise if I ever get around to it.
Another one in the No GAS club. You are officially member No2.
I am too at the moment, always add at the moment. Well, I am BASS GAS free at the moment. I am thinking of consolidating all my gear into one nice, easily moveable rig. Does that count as GAS ?? Or it that just good sense. If my poor wife had a penny for everytime she has heard me pathetically try to justify yet another bass purchase by saying "this is the one, I'll have this forever"........................and I bet I'm not alone. Watch the amps/cabs for sale and have a smile at my expense !!!! S
Re the first bit, it doesn't count as GAS but that your back is on the way out. Second bit, You're certainly not alone. It got to the point where my wife would know what I was going to buy next due to suddenly finding new wallpaper on the PC screen and overhearing me trying to convince all our muso mates (and myself)the advantages of this bass or that amp.
