  1. Mike just bought some black nylon flats from me. So easy and pleasant to deal with. Great comms, paid straight away Perfect deal. A credit to BC. Thanks.
  2. Set of Warwick black nylon tapes, cut for 2+2, fitted, tried, taken off. Also an extra unfitted 40/60/80. Bought these last week, no 100 (E) in the pack so Bass direct promptly sent another set hence the three extras. Full set used for 10 mins and removed. Great for an active bass, not ideal for passive without winding up the amp or outboard pre. Gone back to La Bella whites. £13 collected, £15 inc postage to mainland UK
  3. I'm not really sure what constitutes a boutique bass. Is it just a very expensive instrument from somewhere other than one of of the big name big quantity manufacturers? Is a Fodera a boutique bass? They seem to make quite a few as there's usually two or three for sale on here or, are boutique basses made for an individual?
  4. Three old (possibly collectable) books The Ivor Mariants bass guitar method Bass guitar, Shirley Douglas & Chas McDevitt Electric Ladyland song book. £10 for a heap of nostalgia. £12 if posted to UK mainland.

  5. I've depped loads over the years but usually for bands that had mates in and that I'd seen play on occasion. I've never been a pro musician, I was, in my opinion, never good enough for that so, I'd agree to play just to get their problem sorted and then happily take whatever money they offered me after the gig. Takes a lot of pressure off when you don't need the money for a mortgage or food. It was mainly classic rock or Blues so I had the advantage of being relatively old as I'd either played, or was just familiar with 95% of the material. I loved it. A real buzz for me depping. Had a few Blues deps where no setlist was provided, not even on the night. Vocalist would just shout the next number and guitarist would give me the nod for the key and hope the drummer would signal any stops. Loved it.
  6. Yes, they're great aren't they. The jazz club in the pic held about 180 and I didn't need to line out to the PA. It was enough. Mind you, we weren't doing any Megadeath covers😆
  7. As far as I can recall, I've never, in 57 years of gigging, come across this problem/situation in a band scenario. Could that be that we, unbeknown to ourselves, all shared the same views and mindset? Could it be that the gig was the most important issue so conversations of that type never happened? Could it be that I was never on the lookout for new "besties" but simply people to play good music with? Who knows, however, I have come across plenty of people who have a dislike of the elderly and who have, either directly kept me out of a band or guided my decision to not join a band.
  8. On the cusp of retiring but now have the possibility of a little project so, the ideal situation would be to exchange these three instruments for one. I'm after a 5 or 6 string (as I need a low B) First up, old faithful, Warick Streamer STD. 2001. Made in Germany. Passive, gigged, everything works as it should and has always felt like an old friend. All the age related marks that tell a great story of a lot of gigs. This is simplicity at it's best. One MEC with coil tap, one volume, one tone. Stays in tune, sounds fab, easy to play. Adjust-a-nut 38mm, spacing at saddles 19mm. 3.6kgs, Straplocks. Next, a Squier P bass that the previous owner has put a Fender logo on, or another neck. Bottom line is, no damage, all works perfectly, sounds like and plays, exactly like a P bass and doesn't sound any different to the USA one I had. Not sure of make of P/U but huge output. Last up. my Dean Pace EUB 5 string. Only one French cocktail gig sound-check pic at present but will add more if any interest. All works, sound great with the current La Bella white nylons on. Ideal to get into EUB as 35" scale. Has the proper case and the all directions ball-joint tripod stand. For me, I'm fine with passive or active instruments, not a huge fan of Ibanez. I've priced this collectively as a trade value in the hope of doing a trade as space is also an issue but happy to talk if there's no interest in the job lot. Not averse to also adding a little to the deal for something I really like. Dean EUB Gone, P Bass pending
  9. Bast###s In what area did it go missing?
  10. WAL basses. They're ugly. Don't care what they sound like, how good their build quality is or, how rare they are. Apart from their inconceivable sales value (as I'd sell it immediately) you couldn't give me one for free. Stupid coloured bass cabs, ( orange, purple, red, green etc) Music stands on stage should attract the death penalty (tablets are okay) Drummers with more than three cymbals.
  11. At an open mic night in France, our visiting daughter decided to get up and sing At last, Etta James' classic. I was on acoustic bass, drummer on brushes, mate on keys. However the self appointed house harp player assumed he was included in the line up. After him playing continuously over the vocals for the first two minutes, I thought I'd really overstepped the mark when I screamed over mic "Shut the f*k up" but then, a big cheer and applause from every other muso in the place. These people have to be told.😆
  12. Not sure if this should be here or "Other music stuff" as it's a guitar effects/processor. Anyway, as above, fully working Line 6 floorboard and V.2.0 Pod, with connecting cable and Line 6 PSU. The ultimate bedroom noodler kit but also well gigable. Immense fun for not much money. It's old school, but has some fab patches. I've even managed to tailor a pretty good Eric Johnson patch, unfortunately, I play more like Ulrika. The floorboards usually go for about £60 in the real world so another £20 for the Pod, cable and PSU seems fair. Could post at buyer's cost or happy if anyone wants to pop round and try it out. Price firm, not looking for trades as heading towards retirement. Thanks
  13. Very nice and great sounding Valencia classical guitar in beautiful condition. Model CG30R+ Ser No 4700359 Casa de guitarras Paid just over 300 Euros for this in France when I was eager to embark on my Gypsy Kings stage. It never happened. Could do with a set of strings but still sounds great with the old ones on. Used it once when someone requested Girl from Ipanema Comes with a gig bag. A quick dust and it'll look brand new. Now £90 Ideally pick up from Ashill in Norfolk but could probably find a guitar box if posting is a deal breaker.

  14. Fully working Marshall micro stack MS4. In original box with instructions etc. £15 + £3 postage
  15. Fully working EBS Session 60 tilt back combo. Last pic shows it being gigged a few months ago. More than up to the job for small venues but a great practice combo too. No problem even with my 5 string EUB Not looking for any trades as I need to clear out stuff. Pick up from Ashill IP25 in Norfolk. Great condition for age and only one little scuff on one side. Welcome to come and try.
  16. Really cool sounding old school Alessis Microverb 1. Does work without doubt however, power supply separated in house move hence, £15. Maybe you have a PSU. (3.5mm mono jack type (v /AC) If you do, grab a bargain. Ebay got them for about £12. If I find the original before a sale, I'll edit ad to £25. Happy to post, guessing at around a fiver. Maybe a bit less. Alternatively, pick up from Ashill IP25

  17. They've sort of managed to turn a set at the biggest show on Earth into five mates having a jam in a garage but, it works🤣
  18. Still instantly recognisable even at nearly 80. Shambolic? Yes, the perfect description. He's come a long way on four chords and an untuned guitar but as you say, despite everything he does, there's something timeless about him ..........and long may he continue.
  19. Recent gig in France. Yes, it would look better if I had stood up but I was knackered😆 The ending came as a bit of a surprise as there should have been a further 16 bars of guitar for the playout but hey-ho, that's live music.
  20. And I had exactly that and sold it in France. It's my biggest regret.
