  1. Congrats
  2. Des bought a Jazz p/u cover from me. Great comms, prompt payment, nice and easy to deal with. Nice guy.
  3. Hi, Do you know the power handling and ohmage?
  4. Maybe it's good for metal😉
  5. Point of view from the other side. I'm on the committee for the Necton village charity music festival and have been for four years My job is to find and book the six acts. All the profit from the events is split between three charities. Noone working on the day is paid EXCEPT the bands. The committee chairman would like me to find at least five free bands to increase profits. I refused the first year and someone else did the bookings. The disaster that followed (on a par with a very bad open mic night) made them see sense. Since then, every act gets at least £150 expenses. I'll usually try to get the headliners to drop their fee down to maybe £500 but one, has actually refused payment and just taken the expenses. Our bar is run by the committee and village volunteers do the parking We pay for security, medics tent, the stage, sound system and engineers and the 50Kw gennie. None of the organisers and helpers get paid. Bands also get a free burger each and a drink. I would never expect a band to play for free AND be out of pocket.
  6. A mixed box of stuff laying around. Selling as one lot. 3 old Mex Strat pickups one not working, no idea which. Luthier did tell me but I didn't mark or separate it. I changed all three. 5 string jazz P/U (100mm x 17mm ( think it's from a Cort but can't swear) plenty of wire. 5 string MM type P/U (105 x 48) same as above. A couple of odd straplocks (strap end) An Alessi Microverb. Does work perfectly but no PSU A 70's/80's Satellite Les Paul body & neck. No pickups but Knobs, neck plate and bridge in the box. (95% of these were Japanese (Matsumoku) but a last few were Korean £45 for the whole lot, plus whatever the cheapest form of postage costs. Welcome to collect though. If you only want the one gold strap-lock or one knob, it's still £45, but you will also get the rest.
  7. About a year old and immaculate. Decided I want another Warwick so this is going. Will also include the original black guard but personally, I think it looks better with the tort. (Cost £20) Lovely low action, plays really nice. No dings, digs or scratches. These are now £399 new from the big sellers so if you're in the market, save yourself £100 £275 in the same condition as a new one. Can post as I have a bass carton. Will come with a nearly new set of rounds as currently has flats on. Welcome to come and try. Ashill IP25
  8. Active or passive? Looks like a stacked tone knob.
  9. Nice bass. GLWTS.
  10. All my basses have Labella white nylons. Plug in, turn on the Shuttle, low boost and top boost buttons in. All knobs at 11.00 o'clock (ish) If I can hear it, the band can hear it, the punters can hear it, that's my sound.
  11. I'm about 25 mins from Wymondham. This is pub band heaven if that's what you're looking for. Depends on your prefered genre of course but if you want a blues band or classic rock covers, you've come to the right place. Pubs with music are alive and well here compared to other parts of the country. The Cross keys in the town centre has live music. You have at least another six venues in Dereham plus the Dereham blues festival. Jam nights in Norwich, the Apex in Bury St Eds, the Waterfront in Norwich, the Corn Exchange in King's Lynn and many other venues. You shouldn't have much trouble finding a band. Send me a PM when you've moved and I'll do you a list of places to check out and maybe a couple of contacts who may be up for playing. Good luck with the move.
  12. Any trade options?
  13. I had this same head (but in the CXC 2x12 version) Tremendous piece of kit. Bought it at the Bass Centre in Wapping. Ultra reliable and ridiculously loud for 300w. I gigged it all over France for years without a hitch. This is a no-brainer for £75
  14. Steeleye span, last night at the Apex in Bury st Edmunds. Numbers from the latest album except a couple of obvious ones. Seriously good level of musicianship with a few numbers really venturing into Prog-Rock territory. Not sure I heard one bar of music with 4 or 8 beats in it😆. Some very complicated structures going on. Maddy Prior is now 78 but doesn't sound any different from 50 years ago and the five part harmonies were perfect and excellent bass playing from Roger Carey. All in all, a very good gig.
  15. Hi Rich, you still looking? If it's the same size as the CV Jazz one, I can post it off to you.
  16. Bought these on BC for a project but never used them. Unbranded, but from memory, out of a Cort. Jazz 100mm x 17mm MM 105mm x 48mm Pick up from Ashill Norfolk or posted to UK for extra £3 Plenty of wire, both in excellent cond.
  17. Recently joined a band (second rehearsal tomorrow) and it's looking like they might want to take on a few pub gigs to just hone the set and performance so,.. Bought a pub cheapy for the usual reasons. I picked up a Classic Vibe Jazz 5 locally. The guy had bought it 6 months previous so I wasn't expecting much with him moving it on that quickly but it still had all the plastic on it. Wow, that neck and fret board. Frets perfectly finished, no sharp edges, love the gloss feel, in fact, it reminds me of the 5 string Elite I sold here a couple of years ago. Great sound through my Shuttle 6.0. Plays like a dream with the LaBella low tension flats on. The only down side is, it's on the heavy side but as their set list appears to be just 20 numbers, I won't be standing on a stage for 3 hours. I think these things are only about £300 (updated price check £399) or so new. Can't believe it for the money.
  18. This really doesn't sound like a band I'd want to be in with all this going on. If people can't be up front with each other, it's a non starter.
  19. Live in L.A. by the Rippingtons. Kim Stone on bass. Fabulous playing.
  20. D'Addario chromes, flatwound ECB81-5 string set. Cut for 34" four over one. Been on 20 mins. Another expensive exercise. After paying £72 for LaBellas, I thought these are worth a go for £59 Not for me. Put them on, plugged it in, played the intro to Midnight at the Oasis, took them off. 2mm of silk removed from the B and E due to saddle position but sealed with a dab of super glue to stop any unwinding. £25 inc postage to mainland UK
