  1. Tried on my Bose phones and the Mackie monitors. It's all just a mush in my ears at the moment. May be best to sort it when all these hearing problems are hopefully sorted.
  2. Hi all, At the moment, I apparently have inflamed sinuses and an inner ear infection. When I talk, it sounds to me like I have a cardboard box over my head and about 40% hearing ability. I'm struggling to discern bass notes and the other night, ran through a new number, playing the bass line a semitone out over the whole song😂 Anyway, the song (link below) Together again by Dave Koz, I've played for ages now but this live version I found with Cory Wong has an intro that I need to sort. Just the first 8 notes before the song starts. What I've got, is Eb C B Eb(octave lower) Bb G F# F but I've no idea if it's correct and can't see what the bass player is doing on the video. Most of these notes just sound like a low rumble to me at the moment. So, if anyone knows this version or can just confirm or correct what I "think" they are, I'd be grateful.
  3. Predictive text. I never make that mistake😱 so thank you.
  4. Just seen the ad for their new range of Squiers. A 40 year anniversary tribute range to their entry level instruments that in their words, were introduced after calls to "make Fender designed products available at affordable prices" They're £500 I've contacted Fender to suggest they call it the "Irony" series😉
  5. No-one remember Janice Johnson? Founding member and bassist with Taste of honey. Fabulous player. Founded the band in the very early 70s Boogie oogie oogie was a game changer. One of my first bass heroes.
  6. All in the eye of the beholder. If you love it, that's all that matters.
  7. I took this in as a PX trade. A Maruszczyk Elwood 5a. Wasn't even sure if I was going to keep it but I was interested in the pickup config as I sort of missed my Ray but also tended to use a Jazz on the neck PU 90% of the time. I know nothing about these basses other than what I see mentioned on here. If I'm honest, I'm mighty impressed. Can't fault the craftmanship and finish. Neck is a little chunkier than I like but I'll get used to it. So yesterday, I gave it a bit of an outing with a couple of muso mates as I'd only tinkled around with "at home" volumes. Don't know why I didn't try these before now. It has the tone I've been looking for for ages now. I'm sure I've owned other basses that would have achieved it too but I had no idea how to find it. This was sort of "plug & play" if you like. I'm hooked. It's a keeper. Seems to deliver everything I need from a bass.
  8. The end pin goes fully inside other than the rubber end cap. I'll measure it in the morning fully closed and edit the listing.
  9. I only go to gigs where I can sit down. My feet ache a lot. I need to get into jazz so I can also play sitting down.🤔
  10. Hi, I'm in Norfolk, about 35 mins from Fakenham, and have a 40th family birthday party to attend on the 28th Oct in East Grinstead if that helps. (With a stop off in Brentwood on the way for an hour)
  11. Had Jamahl round this morning to pick up a bass and do a PX trade. What a lovely guy. He's a new member but no hesitation in singing his praises whatsoever. Seriously good player and all round pro muso too. Real pleasure to have met him.
  12. Can save you 200 miles of that by getting it to Essex, or even more, by getting it to East Grinstead on the 28th Oct😂
  13. Measures 18mm but as you have an option of where to cross the saddles (3 slots on each) I checked the spec online and it comes up as .688 of an inch which is 17.45 but personally, I think it's 18mm. Certainly doesn't feel as narrow as my old Ray 5 string. Hope that helps. If you're local, welcome to just come and try it.
  14. Bassix EUB (by Alan Hattswell) Scale length 41" Total length with end pin retracted fully to rubber stop as in first picture, 46" (Same as a P bass) Intriguing and very efficient tuning system. 9v preamp, extendable end pin. Will actually sit on a guitar stand with pin retracted. Sounds great. I replaced the strings 9 months ago, (Innovations ) including the set of tail piece rollers which I had previously bought through Alan but had not fitted at the time. but it's had no use since as I also have a 5 string EUB and seem to gravitate towards that. I wasn't sure of the model when I bought this so contacted Alan and was told by him that it was an early Jazza. That design has now changed for the Jazza. Has a few little scratches but plays wonderfully. I'll remove my sticky paper dots from the fingerboard😂 There is no case but it fits easily into a large bass gig bag which will come with the bass. Any other questions or pics required, just ask. Ideally pick up from Swaffham where you can try it out first.
  15. Price above is allowing for a PX trade of up to £600. Sale price is £1550 Probably the hardest to find colour for one of these. Champaign metallic. The bass is mint. Can't find a mark on it. No dings. Anything in the pics is a reflection from the phone. Original case, possibly all the case candy but not really sure what comes with them. Fender leather strap, with the strap-locks fitted, Allen keys, keys for case, Fender polishing cloth etc. Currently strung with my fave La Bella white nylons but I'd like to keep those so the new DR Fat-beams will be fitted. Only my opinion but far better than the Ultras if only for the very accessible truss rod wheel at the body end. Everything works, ultra low action, new batteries installed (2) Weighs in at 4.57 kilos according to my fishing scales. Even still got the control info plastic slip in place. I can't find another in this colour to judge pricing but as 4 stringers appear to be for sale for more or less the same, so price is firm. Any of these on reverb are quite a bit dearer and scratched to buggery. This one has lived under the spare bed for 2 years. Trade options. Feel I'd need to keep a 5 string handy just in case I find a gig so, trades up to max £600 for a 5 string jazz (battered MIM, VM, Maybe a nice SIRE MM 5 string. Not fussed about scratches, dents etc as long as it's still reasonable value for money. A Sterling by MM 5 string would be okay too. There's a nice blue one on here ATM so that sort of thing. I'm not a headstock snob so doesn't need to have Fender on it. Only thing I'm not up for is an Ibanez. Great stuff but just not for me. Ideally pick up from Swaffham PE37, have GB rig here to try it out with, quality coffee and biscuits available at no extra cost. I do not have an outer box for this but am happy to send via YOUR arranged and insured courier.
  16. The Sherringham Shanty men. The wife is on a mission after seeing Fishermen's Friends🤣
  17. Seems everyone is thinking only of sound. For me, it's any 5 string. With a twiddle here and a twiddle there, you can get a useable sound out of 99% of working basses.
  18. Wow, thanks Douglas. That should get me sorted (and the French version will help me brush up after 2 years) Thank you so much. Much appreciated.
  19. I have Cubase Lite (version about 3 years old) which I believe will function with the M-Audio. However, I don't know if my current Mac OS (Yosemite) will support it. Thanks for the info and advice.
  20. I've been given an M-Audio Projectmix 1/0. I says it connects to my old iMac via a Firewire cable. Thing is, it appears there are different ones (4 pin, 6 & 9 pin) so, does anyone use one of these? (or shall I bin it?) There's no manual, and the M-Audio site doesn't list it in the manuals section. Any help on how I can, or should, connect this up would be appreciated. It does power up so I'm thinking it may be worth a try. Thanks.
