1. Can't believe this thread generated so many replies TBH. I like the basses as works of art and will probably hang on to 'em (and hang 'em on the walls ) When finishing with bands at times can be deflating , and I have wondered if it's all worth it. After looking through all of your responses here, it looks like I shouldn't do anything at the moment , except play them. I may even swap one or two on here in the future. Who knows?
2. I have decided that I can not be bothered any more, about joining another band. I believe I have too many Basses and will probably offload a few ,in the not too distant future. I was just wondering whether, there is anybody here who is a 'bedroom bassplayer' with more than one Bass who is in a similar position as me? If so, how many are you gonna keep ?
3. Cool job!!
4. Disillusioned. Not much goin' on. Don't fancy playing to one man and his dog.Band split in November, can't see myself rushing to join another anyday soon.
5. Stu Hamm kings of sleep/The urge .
6. Had a brief look at this topic,as there are lot of replies. When I used to read Bass Player,Jeff seemed to get a raw deal (imho) from people complaining about is column in the letter page. Let's face it , like it or not , the guy has got humongous talent. Sure , he doesn't hold back in his opinions in advising/helping others, but he genuinely cares about making others progress. He gave free advice, and got angry responses from many. They should lighten up. It's only an opinion. If things were different for me, and I lived in the states, and could afford lessons . I would choose him .(and Billy Sheehan/Stu Hamm)
7. Great bass! Rare in the uk. I'm alittle confused by these tho'. The words 'Diamond Series' on my headstock are vertical ,written in a large heavy metal style from the truss rod cover to the B tuning peg. Also , mine isn't basswood. This is a steal at the price tho' ,and someone should buy this.
8. It is a guitar your using? If not, you could've blown it .
9. chuck the case out,and get a decent gig bag. I'm sure your bass will love it.
10. Impotence? Gotta be the guitarist . Importance? As mentioned already most punters would say singer. Last couple of gigs I did, it seemed that the opinion was that me and mr. Drums who were getting most of the attention. If mr vocals is flat and mr. guitar forgets his capo, then that's understandable I guess.
11. Well I'm too much of a hoarder ,I'm afraid. Thought about selling stuff, but the way the market is,I'll try to hang onto them. If I had a' keeper' , it would be the Washburn Status. 1st'proper' bass.Altho' ,it's in great condition since'89 the electrics kept playing up . Also. I bashed the vol/tone knobs too much and they don't click eloquently when turned. The pickups are still the original ones ,but are now passive. My ex band members said it sounds much better now. So, yeah I guess there is a 'keeper'
12. You Should've said 'will ship in case that's worn, but secure' or something along those lines. And supply pics of case.
13. Christina Hendricks is on here alot. Billy Sheehan (Zoe Billy Sheehan, close enough) As for the Squabbling, apart from 'off Topic' I don't see much. Most of the BCS are cool. This site's cool
14. Too tired to look at all responses at moment, but you've gotta sell it.Reason: You don't think it's safe -even in the home! I'd say sell, and get a Vester .Vesters are like Warwicks, and play great IMHO
15. Two basses. Got my Steinberger from ebay (German pawn shopI think ). Had to get a new jack put in , and a saddle made for it. Well worth the dosh. Got the Tele bass from a German shop (ebay again). Never saw anything like it at the time , and it gets great comments when anyone sees it. Nearly sold it last year, but am hanging onto it if I can affoird to do so . Iwould only do it again if the seller lived near me , or was a basschatter
16.
I can see why he ditched his band during rehearsals...
Awesome!(all vids)
17. Don't like the new colour. The green rocked imho.. If I was gonna buy a signature model, then the mk 2 (green) would be the one. For me ,it's like having a custom bass, hence the price. Having said that, there are other manufacturers who charge more dosh for average Fender impersonations.Horses for courses etc. If I came into money in the future (never) I'd get an Attitude and a Kubicki . Love Billy, what you see is what you get.You can tell he cares about his Basses, and his fans.
18.
Mesa Walkabout Scout... used to have one and loved it. Lightweight and sounds damn good.
A fellow BC'r is selling one , checkout the ad .
19. Not even yellow. Ugh!
20. Good luck with the move Ped. Looks like the new BC layout will be ok . Sometimes when a site gets a facelift , it could ruin something that's perfectly adequate . (Planet Rock for example) ugh! Thanks guys for an awesome site btw
21. Wow! Iwas considering a walkabout ,just over a year ago. Ended up with Aguilar. Your price is good, and had I seen this at the time , Iwould've had it. Lovin' the Attitude. My Tele bass is the same colour as your jazz. Iwas thinking of doin' a Billy to it,but Iwas advised not to. Have a bump
22. Bass Player being banged by guitarist?? Arseholes?? This band sounds dodgy. Leave now!
23. All you have to do now is send a TXT to Metro, thanking South West Trains for all their help
24. Love it, love Sparks. Ronald is the man
25. Sounds like you're doin' fine . Getting 'feel' doesn't always come naturally and has to be worked at. Trying not to be too flashy ,not doing too much slap and not playing 10,000 notes helps. Relaxing also helps. When Iwas learning stuff years ago,(covers),I was mainly learning root notes. I was fairly 'competent' I guess , learning in almost parrot fashion. The songs were learnt -but without feel. I didn't play many bad gigs (my nervous enthusiasm heped). However, I learnt in time , to take it easy ,play the whole scale of the song and relax. I cut out the poor attempt at slapping, made more efffort with the plectrum and stopped stressing myself out about learning stuff. I know that I'm far from being a great bass player , but I'm alot better than I was. It takes time.
