1.
I've found that Behringer pedals are a bit hit and miss. Some of them sound great, others---not so much. I reckon for £25 you won't get much better. If you can find a second hand one you can probably sell it for what you pay for it anyway. What I never understood though is all the complaints about the cases. Who cares if they're made of plastic? They're absolutely rock solid. My EHX Big Muff is made of metal and it feels flimsier than Behringer pedals I've owned. I can understand worries about the quality of the electronic parts---they are cheap parts, presumably---but you'll be doing pretty damn well to break the outside. I mean, just watch this!
Hilarious
2. Glad it worked out in the end.Bought some stuff from Amazon, who used HDN to 'deliver' my stuff. They put cards in the door'we were unable todeliver....etc' In the end ,I asked Amazon to send it to my work address, which I would've done had I not been taking a few days holiday at home. HDN suck! I prefer to meet people in person ,when selling bulky musical equipment. I wouldn't wish this hassle on anyone.
3.
hello can anyone help and recommend a video/books on the bass as i cant really progress so i need some recommendations for a novice player can anyone give me their opinions please thankyou
You need to tell us ,what music are you into(ie metal/soul/funk/punk /jazz etc) Have you got any favourite players that you admire? I think you have a peavey, which I think you should persist with if possible,as it cost a bit. Also ,think of a teacher. Teachers altho' can be expensive ,help you feel more comfortable about the bass very quickly. Crikey, I've overused the word 'think' on here
4. Not sure about that. I've got mine plugged into a pair of M-Audio BX5a 's . With a pair of xlr cables.Or TRS cables. Does the job for me. Let's see what others say....
5. Always remember seeing JB at the Shepherds's Buysh Empire a few years back. He ended up headlining ,as Michael Schenker went mentally unstable again. JB was awful! He finished the set with 'Eleanor Rigby! Hardly rock'n'roll. And I thought Clapton was boring. Thankfully Glenn Hughes was there, and on top form
6. Well,I've been a lazy sod when the band was goin'. I've been a bit apprehensive as well with the bits I have. I have Logic(a keyboard friend of mine recommended it to me big time). I also have pod farm and Ableton live/riffworks. which came with my Line 6 UX1 I still have Gearbox which came with my Toneport GX. And Garageband on my Mac. The reason (which looks good) I am apprehensive about Logic is the graph type stuff. When I used to use cassette recorders peak meters were easy to understand. It seems like you get an awful lot for your dosh. But with so much stuff, it makes stuff more complicated than need be imho. I was wondering if it's worth going on a one day course for Logic.I have books ,but keep putting them off. Now that I am bandless, I need to do something with this stuff. Nice thread by the way
7. Airplay studios ,run by Ian in Ashford middx(can't do link) is good.
8. ..but it was on the cards. Played a gig last night at The Sportsman (Croxley Green).Never been there before, barstaff and guvnor great Ordered 1st round of drinks ,they were free. Cool! Did gig , people were getting into it etc. We get paid, then singer quits. The arrangement was we were gonna have a 'band meeting ' after this gig. Myself and Mr. Drums didn't think we needed one and all could've been said at next rehearsal. The general consensus ,was that we weren't doing enough songs as we'd like and that progress was slow. Myself and Mr. Drums have been at most rehearsals, unlike the 2 guitarists and singer with holidays . One of the guitarists broke his wrist and we waited for a few weeks for it to heel. I've had a terrible year, and was a bit slow learning one or two i m o tricky songs ,as my brother moved in and my job is freaking me out and depressing me.I was upfront with the band on this, and only Mr. Drums understands. The majority of the latter stuff was all cover songs chosen by one of the guitarists and the singer. When I learnt songs, the guitarist wasn't ready but nothing was said about that. Songs were ignored when I was ready, but when I think we ain't doin' 'em anymore they resurface and someone else hasn't learnt them. Then I get blame for being slow learning them. I t hink that it's all one way traffic with the blunt guitarist and the singer,so I'm not gonna pursue this anymore. We are ripped apart(which was the name of the band) Think I'll stay home and play with myself for a bit
9. go for a Billy Sheehan Attitude green, or bright yellow with the checkered stuff
10. I used to think that song was called 'go and get stuffed ,get stuffed get going' Sorry can't help, but a bump might
11. All comes down to budget I guess. For'proper' bass equipment a combo or head/cab is fine. If you're gigging or rehearsing with other musicians, then I would suggest getting either a combo or head /cab. 250 Watts should be enough to keep up with noisy guitarists. Regarding the P A thingy you're presently using ,I'm sure somebody else here will advise. Maybe someone could advise you about portable line6 gear that goes straight into PA without amp/combo.
12. Relax, don't worry about it. You'll probably be in loads of bands. Take it easy ,and practice the stuff that the band were uncomfortable with ,plus other stuff
13. Had their first two albums back in the day. Saw them supporting Girlschool many moons ago. Great band .Jim Lyttle's a smashing bloke
14. Great playing. Nice to see .
15. Have you thought about changing your amp,or getting a multi effect unit?
16. Well, normally when I see a thread of many pages,I tend to skip through a couple . But,the tears have been running down my face . Best thread for ages. POOR TIM. PED ,PLEASE DON'T CLOSEDOWN BASSCHAT!! YOU ALL DO A GREAT JOB ,AND WE ALL LOVE IT! Must dash, running out of TIM
17. Interesting . Wouldn't mind having a white trans trem bass
18.
I see the point of bonding with the instruments. I am currently having that experience with my MIA P and I try and practice on my Ray 5HS all the time. Why do I want so many? I figure im allowed a luxury. Part of my luxury is clothing and shoes, the other is a few games here for my gaming systems, but the main treat in my life is bass gear. Why? No idea. I dont want to spend a fortune on a car because all they do is get you from A to B, no excitment for me and no creativity. Although Id love a high end Audi at some point. My friends waste a lot of money on smoking/cars/fast food, and I dont. It all goes on my luxuries. I like collecting them...thats all. I do understand I need more time with all of them though.
Yep! You have the same beliefs as me. It's my only hobby , midlife crisis etc. So I started collecting them....
