1. Agree with claypool , Lemmy and Cliff, but you can't forget Tom Araya. Somebody post a pic please
2. What you could do, is try to get hold of an old Bass mag. If you have a scanner, you could scan page to your desktop. Then print, and put into a nice frame. He has been in the press a lot over the last couple of years , in magazines such as classic rock etc.
3. Best to take it to the tech. It could be the jack, or the active circuitry of the pickups. I had a similar problem some time ago. Had to take it to a tech twice . The second time , it was tested in shop everyday fo a whole week to find out the root of the problem
4.
Yeah I've been considering those ones. The only problem is that it ain't easy to find to try before buy. But from what i read these ones have a very high signal and huge low end frequency.
I know there are later versions (squire ?) which will be cheaper than original. Haven't tried a later model, and don't know your budget. However, if you think of Dawn French falling down the stairs, you will understand how heavy the sound is
5. Someone here is selling an Eden Nenesis .(Not me but I used to have one. ) Great amps.250 watts. Highly recommended
6. status or steinberger
7. I've got tweed(head is brown) but I do like the green. Funny thing is I think the brown headcase goes really wellwith the tweed
8. Well , I got a Dean cabbie bass. Didn't cost a kings ransom tho' It's rare and visually loud...

10. Obviously, the best thing is to smile alot , look gormless if necessary and don't flap like a budgie. Playing theme tunes for a minute or so has worked for me. Never look stressed!
11.
dude, stop posting that avatar.....
I must be out of touch, but who is the Avatar?
12. Saw Maiden in the very early days. Then saw them from the somewhere in time tour till that dreadful gig where Anthrax blew them clean off at Wembley. Didn't bother with them for a while till I saw them at the Clive Burr benefit gig. Cant remember if it was Brixton or Hammy , but that was one of the lowest gigs I'd been to.(volume wise that is) Okay gig, but there was one long song about Scotland I think that was dire. Saw them at Twickenham and , despite the crap sound, they played a blinder. Couldn't get into the final frontier at all, but the album before that was imho the best thing since somewhere in time. You 'll enjoy 'em
13. Don't pay the gas bill for a month ??
14. Two things : Battery compartments on my Steinberger, or washburn status. Too many screws, too fiddly ,and old fashioned battery patch with two wires etc. Hollowbody basses..only one stap button
15. And now for another confusing slant on downtuning: when I learned SCOM , I downloaded bass tab from the internet . So the tuning was : e flat , a flat, d flat g flat.. I then followed the tab the best I could, and it sounded 'right'. So when we had next rehearsal, and I did what was instructed, why were the guitarists telling me I'm wrong? Also, when the guitarists put their capos on I assume (pleeeze tell me if I'm wrong), that a 5 string is best for that and you just play the same pattern of a song moving your hand ' up' onto the b string instead of the e . confused ?
16. I feel your pain. In my last band, I too had to learn scom. I tuned down to d flat as per original. Then guitarist s ask what am I playing?? Then one of guitarist says play in e . so then the song sounds pony. I've got a 5 string. but some bands make things comPlicated for the sake of it. Btw : isn't it annoying when other bandmembers suggest songs, not realising that they are tricky on bass?? If I suggest UFO doctor doctor, the guitarists say it's too hard ..... Aaargh
17. Great post! Will have to upload some ambient stuff tomorrow, like Klaus SchulzeTimewind, or Tangerine dream Dolphin dance unless somebody beats me to it
18.
Now there's a thing of beauty. Just needs one addition though:
