RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE

Thanks guys. Of course I'm not made of money, but my birthday (which I. don't celebrate as much)is in a few days so I must treat myself. Also I should be getting a small bonus(about half the cost of an iPad)from the company I work for. So,iPad /amplitude here we go

Thanks for that Mornats. After looking around the net, looks like you are spot on. I was looking at alot of the Korg apps on the ipad,and what I basically want to do , is play bass with various ambient noises, with various real sounding drums /choirs sounds etc. The ipad has a load of keyboardy stuff ,which looks user friendly and fun. I was thinking of getting an ipad,an irig to plug the bass in and purchasing some apps . What do you think?

Well, I've been doing absolutely nothing over the last year since the band broke up . My basses have been gathering dust , and I've had 1 or 2 upheavels.I am just coming out of a huge rut , and instead of selling everything, have decided to lighten up and record stuff. Anyway,it may sound like I have alot at my disposal(gear wise) but , in truth I haven't got the foggiest how to use it. I will give you an idea of the stuff I have in my possession, and hopefully you can help. I have too many basses . I have mac mini. I have Line 6 ux1 with Podfarm./Riffworks. I have Logic Express.Plus an old M-Audio Radium 49 usb keyboard.Also Garageband What makes me mad is that, I grew up recording audio on cassette decks with ordinary peak meters. NONE OF THIS COMPLICATED(imo)GRAPH LIKE AUDIO INTERFACE, I will (probably) get an ipad midweek.I was looking at the Kaosiltor pro on you tube, which blew my mind. It doesn't look too difficult to use.However , there are quite a few apps on ipad which are similar. Now what I intend to do, is record my bass with ambient noises simultaneously. Without being put off by graph type interface. Could someone please advise me, asap as it looks like the ipad arrival is imminent. Thanks

Band fell apart last year. Doubtful if I have enthusiasm to do it again. This means I have an Aguilar cabinet and head, gathering dust in the bedroom. Could sell , but I'd miss 'em if they go. I see your dilemma.

Thanks for your replies. I love the pro . It looks relatively easy to use.As I say, I haven't got an ipad yet. I have a mac mini(which I am using now.) and an iphone. I would think an iphone screen would be too small for this. Not sure wether to wait for ipad 3 or just get the Kaossiltor pro . Don't really need an ipad imo unless there are other easy to use apps like this.

These look like fun. I haven't got an ipad, but knowing my luck if I get the K K the ipad version would be identical. May offload a bass if it's worth it. Are these any good? Let me know

You should use both. Improves your playing,and makes you more versatile.

Sorry, but I am still laughing about the cat. Sounds like you need to get some sort of magnetic cat flap, so that your cat or you don't get any unwanted visitors. Make sure your cat is not bullied by others. Bass doesn't look too bad tho' .Good luck with that.

Will get the DVD. My friend will probably burn MP3 for me.Don't watch music DVDs as much as I used to, but they're not so expensive these days , and as it's Rush....

Basswise: Played last gig November last year, somewhere in Watford. Awesome gig,which ended when 2 members quit. Taking time off , doubtful if I can carry on.Lost enthusiasm . Have many basses , not sure how many will be left this time next year. Have a lovely Aguilar setup, sitting idle in bedroom. Personal stuff(or not ); Brother is now my lodger. Quite turbulent at times. Moved in last summer due to his redundancy. Chucked various stuff out to accomodate. Got a new TV/DVD combi saving space in living room , giving big TV to neighbour. Still working with A**hole in work ,who is not dead yet!! Stuck in this job I got through temping, but obviously have to stay after being there approx 4 and a half years.Nothing else out there. Altho' I think this thread should 've been started in Jan 2012, so far this year is better than last.(which was my worst ever) My last proper good year , was in 2005.

Unfortunately , Colchester is too far for me. Otherwise, I would have been there all the time. I did buy my Aguilar cab from Darren over the phone.Nice bloke! Shame. Bloody recession! Sorry to hear about it, but hope things work out for you &Chris .

Looks like something made for a kids tv show. Super Mario or something, Sounds like the worst70's/80's disco porn music with lots of slapping. Spent about 2 mins , which was too much. I dolike the green bass tho'. Is that wrong?

Well, you'll have your own' custom bass' (sort of ) Why not finish it in surf green , or a unique colour.?
