  1. Another shout for Ben. Nice guy, down to earth and not pretentious. He has a changing stock, some from the estates of late jazz musicians.......eg Trefor Williams.
  2. Kim Wilde - Rockin Around The Christmas Tree. Don't much like it, but the punters' seem go for it
  3. Is this the scouser's pronunciation?
  4. I switch between basses (fretted and fretless) and double bass. I used to worry that because each was different that I had to concentrate on those differences. A revelation for me was to let the muscle memory develop and , if your technique is basically OK, you will not notice and eventually it will appear seamless. Enjoy practicing and changing....it's a whole new world.
  5. I love it that a request of this sort comes on this forum! I watched Ivor the Engine as a kid and loved it, especially the accent of the narrator.
  6. I feel your pain!! It'll just make what you've ordered better when they do finally arrive.
  7. I completely agree.........but then I'm biased.
  8. Nice one.....and an excursion to add to the anticipation.
  9. Here is my first relic bass. Lake Placid Blue in the style of a '63 P with tort pick guard. It weighs in at 7.9 Ibs, so easy on the shoulder. Aged Gotoh Res-o-lites also ensure a good balance. It sounds super - extremely resonant. Currently strung with Fender 9050 flatwounds. Mark did a great job in my opinion and order time was around 17 weeks. Super happy.
  10. I joined my main giging band through a formal try-out and audition process. We are band mates and colleagues. Don't see them socially outside of after-gig wind-down. So, not really friends.......but, then again, I'm "Billy no mates"!
  11. Yes.......Grace & Danger has some classic fretless playing on it. One of my favourite albums from way back.
  12. It's a friendly community, and a knowledgeable one at that.
  13. I switched from an old heavy 4x10 to a Vanderkley neo 2x12 simply based on weight. The neo is more than enough for the typical type of gigs I play....so I guess the trend will continue toward lighter, more easily handled cabs without losing out on sound quality.
  14. Typical bass player's smile!!
  15. I heard that Ronnie once commented that he didn't rate himself as a bass player......."a bit of a technical numpty".....or words to that effect. I think he under-rated himself big time. I still love his licks on Stay With Me, for example.
  16. I bagged an HX Stomp! Now I need to begin a big learning curve
  17. I just bucked the trend.....so there is life out there.......honest!
  18. Just completed a purchase of a Helix Stomp from Bas. On paper it could have been a complex sale, with my son acting as an intermediary for me in London. All worked perfectly, I'm glad to say. Bas is a gent, sells good gear and his comms are top. Nice one.
  19. Ha Ha.......I wouldn't put it past him to become an instant expert!!
  20. pm sent
  21. Nice job....well done!!
  22. Nice video and a lovely bass. By coincidence, I have an early 60's type Limelight P bass on order (now at just 12 weeks!!) in LPB and with a tort pick guard. I would endorse all that you have said about Limelights in your video and just add that Mark is such a nice guy to deal with. This will be my first toe in the water with a relic'd bass. Can't wait.
  23. Yeah.....now you describe it, I can see that the protection needs to be attached all the time to the endpin. Parquet with DB-inspired scratches is a real no-no!
  24. I've been on the same journey!! I've found this to the best on wooden floors: https://www.thomann.de/be/rdm_floor_protection_black.htm The material that the endpin fits into is metal and therefore durable.
  25. In the early 90's my local music shop had a new Chris Squire Rick signature edition on special offer. I lusted after it and then had a rational discussion with the wife. Ended up leaving the shop having ordered an electric piano for the kids to learn music on. Hey ho!
