Hi Jesus I'm sure I've got a review of this somewhere in my ancient magazine collection, which is in the study, now, as I type. We had the loft insulated and all the crap was removed except for the mags, which are too heavy and need to be decanted into more manageable chunks. I'll have a route this evening, I'll also see what wonders I can find and scan them into the computer, let's have a laugh.

Alex, where did you get the rack ears for your U5? That gig looks like the Albion in Brighton.

Still no cheap lefties for sale.

When buiders are getting layed off, schools are closing, fuel and food are at mind boggling highs and a recession is re-badged a "credit crunch", it doesn't take Jeremy Paxman to work out that we are in for a very, very hard time.

Hi Jesus they were well made and well meaning combos. I tried one years ago though it was broke and didn't sound to clever. BTW what's with the name and stuff?

I always wanted a Trace UV rig. Strange thing is, I only tried a Trace rig once, AH250, 4X10, 1X15, with the first bass I ever bought, (Ibanez Blazer-1985) at Fusion Music, Birkenhead. Made the Blazer sound good enough to buy, £99.
Guess that's a no on all three counts, then Sounds like you're gearing up for a Status order, Steve!
I will be but don't tell her in doors. WINK!
its a sweet bass. ive always wanted a status, maybe one day! i think michael mckeegan used to use them in the 90's with Therapy?
He certainly did and when I saw them, he sounded brutal. Morgan out of the Senseless Things played one too, he now plays keyboards for Muse. What a bassist.

I agree that BP mag is more sophisticated but BGM is aiming for a wider audience. That must surely be a good thing, as we were all once beginners.

I think it is great that the UK has its own dedicated bass guitar magazine. I subscribe to it and found last months the best so far. It is changing all the time, with interviews with Peter Hook and Charlotte Cooper, who I think is an excellent, dynamic bassist, like JJ Burnel. Good rag and a good selection of gear.
The (always have to be different) Gibson approach - black front of headstock to match ebony fretboard, red back of headstock and neck to match body. It's a bit of a shock, the first time you see it in the flesh. It's mahogany though and I'm not a big fan of mahogany left uncovered.
Is that your bass? It's a stunner. I'm a sucker for red basses and pointy too, great.

Great bassists who have had a negative effect on modern bass?
steve-soar replied to Oscar South's topic in General Discussion
Errrrr, that's what I thought I was doing. -
Keep at it but cheer up, it's not all lost. I've had a drummer who want's to be with his girlfriend and two guitarists, one who was waiting in for something, moving house, tired yadda, yadda and the other who thought we were making a rambling noise, because he had never jammed a part out to try different phrasings and rythmns. I started to get paranoid and think that I was crap, there is the key. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. You WILL meet like minded people, god knows, I still believe.

At the end of the day music should move people, empower them, make them dance, think, f***. I stopped slagging other muso's off a long time ago, just about the time I realised that I wasn't the centre of the universe. We all have completely different taste, when we are young we mostly follow trends for acceptance and we then criticise others to prop-up our insecurities. These posts are always a bit sour tasting and negative. I don't think any bassist has had a negative effect on modern bass and how is it right to slate our own kind? -
Hi Ben give us some pics and a price, so we can see if it is worth the trade you want. I tried a HH 250w combo a long time ago and it was amazing, (Kev Hopper of the band "Stump" use to use one-if you haven't heared this band, please check them out, what a bass player). Anyway, I also use to own a HH 2x15" cab and that wasn't bad either, so, if all is well, it could be a great retro rig for £170, (price of 4.5 secondhand).

That is a handsome cab, especially with the Ferrari badges. With the Dood's power amp and a decent pre would be a sucker-punch rig. I wish I had more money, space and a bigger car, there is so much great gear for sale at the moment. I'd love to hear it and play my lefties and your lefties through this.
Yeah i used overdrive/fuzz loads when i was just starting, now i realise it sounds like crap and i've not used my overdrive pedal or wah for ages. Also i think rob trujillo has had a negative effect on metallica, i think he influenced them towards the nu metal sort of side of things, though that could have been the fact that st anger was rushed due to his alcohol problem and numerous other things, we'll see how death magnetic turns out, not good though probably.
What a load of sh*t. Rob Trujilo didn't play a note on St Anger, it was Bob Rock.
Blaming great bassists for having a negative effect on the myriad talentless hacks is akin to blaming Stirling Moss for boy racers. Alex
Spot on. -
I think the market for this bass is very limited. You are looking for someone who wants an "improved" precision ( apologies to Leo Fender), with replaced guard, pup and a strange 5 way bridge with the string tree used to anchor the 5th string. And all for the bargain price of £350. Dream on.
A Jap P bass, with upgrades and the 4+1 kit for £350 is a very fair price. How much do you think it should be then?
Hartke Attax Pedal - the shape control really fattens things up, but................ seeing as how you have such a good setup to start with, it might be all too much and just sound worse. This is kind of what happened to me when I upgraded a while ago.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread but could you post some pics of your Streamliner Mr Wooleydick?
