1. Greedy little blighter. I'm only jealous.
2.
Ouch.. this hurts. Folks, I'm not in a position to buy this back. If I was, I wouldn't think twice. I can - hand on heart - categorically state that this Jazz is a beauty and has 'it', whatever 'it' is. I'm gutted to see it go again.
Buy it back you gonk!!!!!! Sell your Mesa amp or something, I know how horrible it is to see your bass in the hands of somebody else, it's like your missus being manhandled by a stranger.
3. That's a nice sounding bass, good B string, from the two notes I heared. A bit more than a Mexican Jazz, erm....no brainer righties.
4.
aye funny routs. cheap and nasty way to make it. and why the wee hole routed in it? whats that for? my CIJ p doesnt have one of them
The hole is so it can be mounted on a turntable to be sprayed around on the back of the body.
5.
I also though that the neck pickup on a Jazz was narrower than the bridge one so two templates would be required?
Your right they are but I mean the lugs that are routed out for the height adjustment screws should be on the neck pup also.
6.
if by empty, he means the cab is empty as well as there being no amp, then he's on something and yeah i swear there is a member with that name here
What do you think is a fair price then?
7. It is but not the "bang, 3 seconds, done" routing. It takes about a minute to drill the wiring tunnel from the pickup cavity to the control cavity and the neck pup cavity should be the same as the bridge.
8. If you're after passives, Seymour Duncan Quater Pounders or the high output DiMarzios-Ultra J&P. Active pups EMG are powerful, I have them in my Squier Precision (Precision and Jazz pups) with the EMG BTC (bass and treble control) which has treble frequencey selector switches on the mini pcb of the tone pot. I think they sound amazing with huge chunky bottom end which is never muddy and it can zing like an old dirty P bass, the Jazz pup is dead growly too.
9. Me too, the cheeky penny-pinchin' bas...
10. I've seen that finish on many Fender Jazz basses I have fixed but I've never seen that kind of route on the neck pup or the route for the wiring on an American Fender Jazz. It should be the same kind of route for the bridge pup and the wires should tunnel through. They do it on modern Squiers and other cheaper basses, I'm shocked to see such a cost cutting excercise.
11. You should have a good time. You'll be in the long back room, which is a good size. This place you to be the Castle pub and it was the pub for the workers of Cammel Laird shipbuilders, it is indeed on a roundabout. They have a bewildering array of fine beverages, you have to pay to get in even if you don't want to see the band. There is usually a good sized crowd and I expect you'll bring a load over too. I'll pop down and say hi, it's only 5 mins walk from my house. See ya there Steve.
12. Myself, on my ACG 6 string, transposing some of my favourite bass lines. I'm dizzy, knackered and my right hand is aching.
13. Hi Gareth could you tell me what the finger board has been finished with? If you take the scratchplate off, or the neck, are there any signs of a different colour in the pickup cavity/neck pocket? Cheers Steve.
14.
This is for Steve Soar really, he was asking about this Jaydee a while back.
Can I ask a big favour from all the Basschat members? Before you go to bed tonight can you all say a prayer for this bass to be re-united with its original owner? I have asked Beerdragon to pass on the request to the person who owns it but I would appreciate some divine intervention. Thank you all in advance and have a good nights sleep.
15.
(Better Pics to Follow!) Yes mate.
Hi Steve that's lovely. Is that a 15" with a horn/tweeter? So, that would be a 200 watt valve amp in there? Wonder what it would sound like with an extension cab. Better pics please.
16. Amps I've owned, Sansui amp into Wharfdale Laser 60's, blew them up, First proper amp, McGregor Bassman 200 with a HH 2x15 cab, Ampeg SVT cab, didn't realise what it was but got it for £150. Sold it to Hessey's music. Peavey Combo 300, Not sure about the order around this time, Marshall Jubilee 300, Marshall Jubilee 4x10, Peavey 1820 cab, Settled on Peavey Mark 6 head and 2x15" Blackwidow cab. Ampeg SVT II, then bought back the SVT cab from our rehearsal studio, who had bought it from Hessey's, Big gap Ashdown EVO ABM Combo 500 C115, Ashdown ABM Mini 48 cab, Hartke 4.5 XL Hartke HA7000, Ampeg SVP Pro, Crown XTi 1000, 2xAccuGgroove Tri 112L's, Avalon U5 preamp/D.I. * Bergantino IP 310, * Ampeg SVT IIP preamp. * *=My current rig. Best looking- SVT stack Best sounding-Bergantino and SVT IIP pre, by a million miles Loudest, SVT II with the 8x10 and the Peavey 2x15, insane Best studio sound, SVT II head going into a Marshall 4x12 guitar cab Most commented on, non of them because the punters always wanted to shag the singer, Combo 300, always use to get praise Most frustrating, they all had something, weight, lack of power, lack of definition/punch, too fiddley to set up but my Berg, Ampeg and Avalon don't suffer any of these problems, except I wish I had two Bergs Worst the McGregor, absolutely terrible. I see them on ebay and think just take a lump hammer to them Overall winner, whoever can make an SVT that weighs 25 lbs will be a rich man, having said that, my Berg is the best sounding cab I have EVER heared and the Avalon is a great pre and D.I. (brilliant into my mixer, then into my PC) but using the Ampeg SVT IIP, which is the three valve eq section of the SVT II head, as the Bergs preamp, gives me the closest I can get to my old rigs sound, plus it doesn't weigh over 300 lbs. Stuff I would like to try Trace Elliot (I know, I just never fancied it), Acoustic and one of those Fender PB 400 heads with 3x4 ohm cabs.
17.
So no-one has emailed Epifani yet then? Si
Probably not. People are enjoying the mild hysteria. I will email them on Monday.
18. Metallica are great, oops, wrong thread.
19. God that's lovely, I'll try to get mine on Alans display, who else is going? That top is top-tastic.
20.
Damn, your your quick Steve.
Hi Martin, they are feelgood purchases until I get me Jaydee back. Keep pestering him will you.
21.
its a shame mr. masaki is such an awesome bassist that he needs the fret numbers in place of the dot inlays... load of mindless w***ing anyway...
God that was painful. What was it called, "Love my Bone"? A friend of mine is a big Gilbert fan. That's about it really.
22.
haha. advice came from a local player. doctor_of_the_bass infact. he know his basses lol. anyway, putting a p bass pickup in a p bass seems a bit overdone
23. Chester....Monday....Dawsons. Wife gone to Dental appointment, husband goes into aformentioned shop. Looks around at overpriced chinese instruments and in desperation asks if he can try an Electro Harmonix QTron. Response from assistant number 1, "er, I don't think we sell them." Number 2 chimes in, "We can order one in for you to try but it will take 2 weeks and you will have to leave a deposit". Feeling in boyish mood I ask, "Can the USA Strat be reduced in price because it has got a dent and scratches?" Number 2, "No, that's how it came in". It is endemic of music shops in general and always has been, that the level of service is dependant on the management philosophy. Good service = good business. Easy equation.
24. I'm hoping to buy my old one back, I've got the money waiting but I'm not going to hold my breath. You could get a Roadie with a solid colour, or a sunburst like a Jazz would look cool. I torture myself looking at the website also.
