1. So did Trace back in the 80's. Lord knows how much that must have weighed I've only heared Nemesis gear with that totally AMAZING lad who plays but has only the one arm, I can't think of his name at the mo. It sounded well and truely rumbustious.
2.
So this morning i wake up to see that UPS delivered a huge package today at the shop. I bring it back upstairs. Open up the box and in it is a huge hardcase. I try to get into the hardcase..... Its pretty hard to get into. There were no keys! I managed to break into one of the locks by using a paper clip, but the other being really stubburn. So i had to use a flathead screwdriver and break my way in, Not before i emailed Sebastard wondering why he hadnt sent the keys. (turns out it wasent a key system, But i had to line somethings up.) So anyway. I put the bass together, BC-Rich NOS USA Ironbird bass. Adjusted the Sky high action, And it plays and sound great. Though i think the wiring when both the pickups are on isent quite correct (Huge volume and bass loss) I will be sorting that out tommorow. I will be getting lightweight tuners and a real grippy strap, Maybe a strap pin reposition, Some DR Blacks Strings. Plus i will be sending the case to my case maker to get new (And better locks) Fitted to it, you wouldnt believe how easy it was to break the lock. One i have been after since i first started playing 4 years ago. I would like to thank Seb for his hard graft at fixing the neck pocket and sending it out here. And Lorne for all his "Wonderful" Advice ;-). PS, I dont think i will be respraying it Pink, its too damn sexy in black. Maybe when i get a Cheaper NJ model The pickups so far sound great, So i am undecided about Emgs as of yet.
Love it. What a bass! BTW, who lives in the cage in that room? Cheers Steve
3. Alan doesn't see the need for big bodies so I imagine it will be quite a suprise to see how compact it will be.
4. Is that 36 or 18v ? Love the angled top.
5.
I've been using DR sunbeams for over a year now had some black beauties a few sets of strings before from my memory I really liked them and the longest lasting strings I have owend. I tried and bought a set of elixirs a month or so ago I wasn't impressed with the sound what so ever went straight back to the DR's. Got to get around to trying some Lo-Riders, and Im putting blue peacock coated on my fretless when its finished.
SEXAY ! Been using DR Hi Beams over the summer and have found the even response and projection on all positions to be addictive. Red strings on the ACG, mmmmmmmm
6.
Unlikely to proceed with another build for this neck, so here we have a 2 + 2 headstocked Moses graphite bass neck. 22 frets, Headstock takes GB7 tuners. Fits Fender neck pockets. has drill holes in headstock for tuners. comes with bolts. the heel has threaded inserts. neck has side dots and no face dots. Has a truss rod, with adjustment at heel end. Matt black as is typical of Moses. (no large weave or diamond weave pattern visible.) Has moses logo, and a string retainer. Mounted item for a while on a Warmoth body, where I have normally have another Moses neck (a 21 fret Lefty Jazz) on for the extra fret, which I don't really need that much so.... £140 or nearest off, secures, payment via paypal. + postage open to sensible offers. PM me if interested.
Hi , where abouts are you ? I've seen your profile on Arnies site, as I am a fellow lefty. Will this neck fit a precision? Cheers Steve.
7. Walked off the front of the stage in a pea-souper of dry ice..... 4 foot drop. How about that for a clanger.
8. I used to use a fridge with an SVT, but we used a tour bus, had 2 roadies, and a big rehearsal room with a big lock-up, BIG BIG BIG. They are a bast**d to move anywhere, especially up staircases. At the end of the day they look dead cool and sound great but as Dood says there are lighter and better solutions to be investigated. 30+ years ago it would have been a no brainer.
9. So the guy is not a custom maker, as he no longer takes orders. Being a lefty, the chances of ever owning one of these beauties is very slim.
10. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I'm just waiting for the 6 string MM pups to arrive and then mine can be finished.
11. Black P basses, JJ Burnel, Roger Waters, Phil Lynot and hopefully me one day. I used to play my bass unplugged with the headstock pressed against a hollow door.
12. There I was minding my own business, got a shi££y cold and feeling sorry for myself, been to Screw Fix to buy some tools to make a scratchplate (tort lefty precision) let the chinchilla out for his nightly rampage of carnage then on to Baschat for a little look, thinking there won't be anything to gas over. Thanks a lot. Thats no sleep for me for the next few hours.
13. Status King Bass standard in Candy Apple Red, lighter amp and cab, maybe, or possibly swap what I've got for something else
14. My very first "proper" bass head was a Mac 200w with a HH 2x15" cab and as I remember it sounded sh*te.
15. On the bloody bass, Jean Jacques Burnel.
16. Schaller, only cause I dont know any better.
17. DR Hi Beams, but I wish they did double ball ends for my headless. Used to use Elites but DR's sound better across all the strings.
18. Hi there. Nice to have another fellow left hander in the club and a good choice taking up the bass. I started playing bass over twenty years ago and began with an Ibanez Blazer £99 and played this through my stereo bad idea. I stopped playing for far, far, too long but picked it up again in 2004 and bought a 1995 Squier Precision, absolutely mint with a £40 padded gig bag and a great strap for £100. I fret- stoned it, and gave it a good set-up and it plays really well. Maybe you could take a bass player with you when you go to buy the bass to check it out. 4 or 5 string would probably be best for now only because you won't find a 6 string thats any good for £150. Happy hunting, Steve.
