Mmmmm - Aguilar Rig with BIN price
steve-soar replied to coasterbass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I thought "The Wirral" was distinct from Liverpool and "scally" free.......?
Scally free? unfortunately not. There are many "pinheads" roaming the streets, not to mention, bloated chav mothers and their horrible kids, La Coste wearing gonads, who will "spark ya out", if you happen to glance in their direction and worst of all, the U.K.'s worst local council. -
What a VERY apt comment. Brand new eBay account, in Liverpool, selling as his first-ever item a top-end bass rig at a ridiculously low price. That's smellier than a very smelly thing.
I see you use the word Liverpool as a way to bond all of us doleite, smackheads together. -
Kev you w***er. That is a brilliant score. Bargain McBargainson of the lane.
We've seen all the build threads and the odd pic here and there but i thought it would be good to get them all together, in one place. After all, the Football season is nearly upon us and Shuker FC needs to get down to some training. I'll start: This is my Bolt on Elite. So come on people let's see 'em
Carpet in the garage! you posh so n' so.

Bastards! I'm a subscriber (or should I say, my wife gifted it to me ). Mine landed on the hall floor at 7:30am Saturday, when I like to have a late one, no such luck. I opened it and it was the best issue for ages, which had me sitting in the lounge in me bills reading the Jeff Berlin interview, then the fx feature, then the 12" shoot-out. The Berg was the best but the most expensive.
I think that this sums up why you should keep a record of your kit's serial numbers!! Iggy Pop and the Stooges had a sh*t load of gear stolen just a couple of days ago whilst touring Canada check this out Iggy Pop Stolen Gear
Check the opening post.
i recently bought an ashdown abm 410t (the older version with celestion speakers) from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=006 however one of the speakers doesnt produce any sound, according to him there appears to be no damage to the speaker cone or magnet though. he says i need to get a celestion 8ohm 150watt speaker, but i cant seem to find any from uk retailers. would it have to be celestion? or could i use a different 10" speaker? anyone know where and what the best speaker to get would be? bit of a long shot but would it be possible to turn it into a 4ohm cab?would i have to replace all the speakers?
How much did you pay for the cab? You could sell the three good ones and put the money towards new speakers to put in to make it a 4 ohm, 1000w beast. 4x16 ohm Eminence @ 250 watts each, wired in paralell. That'll kick ass! Evil cab alert!!!
Hi guys I'm new here. I had a Bass many years ago and stopped playing, now I want another one. I want to use it to play along to my favourite CD's. I know there is a ton of advise out there. But what I'm looking to be able to do is run my music from my computer to an amp that I can plug my headphone into. I want to be able to play my music back through the amp and be able to hear my bass, so I can play along with the music. Is there a piece of kit I should be looking at that do this? It has to be pretty small too as it is just for use in my bedroom. Some suggestions of what to get would be really helpful. Thanks Jase The Bass
Hi Jase the Ashdown combos have a line in socket so you can plug a CD player in or drum machine. Or you could use the effects return on the back of the amp to plug a CD player into. Or a phono left and right to jack lead for the CD, then a "Y" adaptor, so you can put your bass and lead from the cd player into it then put the single jack on the other side into your amp.

Mine is insured through Liverpool Victoria but I have to pay extra for the amount of gear I own. My stuff is insured for replacement at todays prices. I have all receipts for modifications and additions to basses, as well as cables, cases and I try not to leave anything on show when in the car. I still think it is relatively expensive but essential.

After seeing this; http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=457811, I was wondering if Basschatter's have records of serial numbers and descriptions/photo's of their gear, just incase this ever happened. Also, do you have proper insurance to cover all eventualities?

You can do it but avoid drinking too much booze, there is nothing worse than going on stage pissed, I've never done it myself but some guys I've played with use to do it and they thought they played great shows, when in fact they were awful. I Played in Finsbury Park in the afternoon, then we had to break all the gear down and get to Soho, to the Marquee for the evening. You will have a great time. Make some noise!

You seedy bastard, I like it. I followed the link to the 'Wick page, BIG mistake. I always wanted a Thumb, after seeing Cass Lewis and Mr Bruce but seeing that lefty Buzzard in Sparkling Black, wow. But "How Much?" At least they don't put an upcharge for building it in left hand.

Shuker 5 String Precision- Picked up today!!
steve-soar replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Build Diaries
Truly beautiful bass Sir. I have used EMG's since 1986 and for me, they are the best sounding pups out there. Even, across the board and great top and bottom end power. -
Yeah it's a wooden neck. Go to the Statii forum and check out some pics.
Yep. It is in Wales.
I had John build it for me in 1986 and as a deal with my good friend Colin, manager of Hessey's, Liverpool, I paid cost price. I have the serial number recorded somewhere but I have a horrible feeling it is in papers that were with my ex, so there is no way of retriving it. I would buy this bass back today, simple as that.

I've just received an Ampeg SVT IIP and it is a gorgeous sounding preamp. I owned the SVP Pro and that was great but this is in a different league. It is so simple to use, as I use to own an SVT II, so I know the eq. It goes so well with my Berg IP 310, I was worried that it wouldn't drive the amp in the Berg but I needn't have. It is the quietest piece of Ampeg gear I've ever heared and the warmth, punch and general tone is a god send, it sounds amazing with my Precision and has given me the sound that I have always had in my head. I'm going to try it in front of my Avalon U5 to see if there is any benefit, if not, the U5 will be retired to recording and D.I. duties.

I'm sorry you feel like that but I would prefer to see these guys in the context of a band, Bella, Return, Sanbourne, etc. I feel empowered by their magic and skill but I would find it a bit too much to see them all together. I understand that is a way to get bums on seats but in my opinion I would rather experience the full synergy of an evening of each of them seperately rather than a best of, give the punters their $60's worth. Their music has always challenged me emotionally and technically but I suppose it would still be a great night. (In response to OTPJ's post)
I feel the same. I love great bass playing in the context of a great song more than I love amazing bass playing virtuosity..
Amen to that. I love to practice onerism on my bass from time to time, as the angry neighbours will confirm, however, I look on YouTube at these "Masters" and all I feel is a mixture of "seen it before but not as fast, seen it before but not as musical, seen it before by some kid, seen it before back in 19...". I admire certain aspects of all of these players, Stan's early albums, Marcus's work with some of my favourite artist's and Vic's feel for harmony but together I think it's like having three Jeremy Clarkson's present Top Gear.

Always have somewhere safe for your drinks to go, never put them on top of your amp, or on the floor where they can be kicked over. Take a small dark hand towel on stage with you. Always keep in eye contact with your drummer. Don't wander off on one when a particularly nice lady is looking at you. Avoid the boom ends of cymbal stands when reaching down for anything. Make sure you get payed before you go on. Always try to enjoy the gig and listen to all of the band, not just the parts you are playing.

Beautiful Precision. I want one just like that. Stagger Lee. Groovey bassline par excellence.
