Please could one of the Mods pin this up for us? Thanks...

Hi Folks Having listened to people's comments on the main SE Bash thread, we've decided this year that we're going to have a two-tier system: 1. A Raffle - with a higher ticket price for a smaller number of prizes, each of a higher value 2. A Tombola - with a smaller ticket price for a larger number of prizes, each of a lesser value We're thinking that the main Raffle with be £5 for a strip of tickets, and that the Tombola will be £1 for a strip of tickets. How does that sound? We think this will help address people's concerns and also help us to raise a bit more for good causes.. In my next post, I'll list out what the prizes are that we've got so far. Having said that, we're still happy to receive any donations that you may wish to make, either by bringing them on the day or by pledging them to us via PM (and then we'll work out a way to get them). Thanks in advance as ever... Nik

Hi Folks, Here's the running order for the various workshops/Q&A sessions/presentations/demos at the Bash next Saturday. We're very fortunate to have some fantastic people coming along next Saturday, each with their own unique contribution to make to the day's proceedings, as I'm sure you'll agree - including of course, our very own Clarky and Urb in the Foyer who'll be providing some fantastic tips and insights about technique, double bass etc. In the Theatre, we have a mixture of demos, presentations, talks and Q&A sessions which will cover some really interesting new gear, insights from inspiring Bassists and a chance to find out more about our favourite UK Bass magazine! It goes without saying (but we'll say it anyway) that we're really grateful to everyone for generously donating their time and energy to support this event... Theatre: 11.30 - 11.45 'Bass FX & Midi for the 21st Century Bassist' - Demo by Bryn Wildish, Markbass, aka UrbanKarma 12.15 - 13.00 'The Baby Bass' - Presentation and talk by Kris Kedzior, Founder, Baby Bass 13.15 - 14.00 'Q & A session with Paul Geary and Dave Swift', professional Bassists/writers/recording artistes 14.30 - 15.15 'Bass Guitar Magazine Q & A Session' with Joel McIver, Editor, BGM Foyer: 15.30 - 16.00 'Making the transition to double bass & what you need to start gigging' - Clarky 16.15 - 16.45 'Basic to advanced technique workshop Q&A' - Urb Should you want some more information about any of the above in advance of next week, here's some useful links for you: http://www.markbass....tail.php?id=238 http://baby-bass.com/ http://www.paulgeary.com/ http://www.daveswiftbass.com/ http://www.bassguita...ag/joel-mciver/ http://www.joelmciver.co.uk/site.html It is still possible that timings may change on the day, so please bear with us! Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you next Saturday... Nik -
I guess these Bass Bashes can turn into GAS-fuelled trading floors. Well I hope so, as I'm bringing a couple of things to sell/swap/trade: Blond 'Nocaster' Akai Intelliphase Phaser Oh, and a bit of money in my pocket too!
For the last few years we've had a 'For Sale' area in the foyer which has worked out quite well. Equally, people have brought stuff along and displayed it alongside where they end up siting their rigs, which this year should be in the large hall. Both methods seem to work well but we do need to point out up front that the responsibility for all equipment brought along to the South East Bash is down to the individual person in question - not the organisers of the event or Basschat. -

I used to have 2 MTD Kingston 5 string basses, and they were surprisingly good! The necks were an absolute joy to play and they were nice and light, so no neck or back ache after long gigs.. Also, the Buzz Feiten Tuning system worked really well and soundwise, they were pretty versatile IMO. Not seen this model before, but with all the mods on it, it looks like great value.. If it's a 35" scale neck (which I suspect it is), then the B string should sound pretty good too! Point taken about the Raffle, Pete! When Jack's finished having his lie-down, we'll come up with an alternative plan for distributing all the used strings, pedal board velcro and other less appealing prizes that we've been offered.. Actually, so far the Raffle Prizes offered have been really good! -
Fantastic pics; looks like it was a great day! Some lovely looking gear too Can anyone elaborate on what's what and who's who?
Bump again. Out of interest, is anyone actually interested in this bass at all? Wondering if there just isn't the desire for the bass or if people feel the price is inappropriate, which I don't.
I think it's just a sign of the times that this bass hasn't sold yet; and not a reflection on the bass itself or your valuation of it.. Fabulous bass IMHO and worth every penny!

We're just trying to put the finishing touches to everything Silvie.. Have to say it's not looking too hopeful for a set-up masterclass at the moment, though other things are looking good! -

This is looking like the most well attended SE Bash ever, so let's hope the traffic gods are kind to us on the day..It'll be great to see so many fellow Basschatters there on the day Two things quickly before heading out to the Arundel festival; Bluejay's been doing a fab job of updating the list, so thanks very much for that! Oh -and also some info about Raffle Prizes too. Nik -
I was lucky enough to try this bass out recently and it is absolutely fantastic. It's the real deal; totally stock, original hard case, case candy - the lot! Loads of tonal options, and that's even before you switch in the active circuit... And when you do that, it's like 'LIFT OFF'. Playability is excellent and IMHO, it looks the business! If I were a little more flush right now and didn't already have a great thru-neck 4 string, this would have been mine. Ollie's really cool to deal with too, so you can deal with him in confidence. At £700, I really do think this is one of the best basses to be had for the money here on BC at the moment. GLWTS
