Hi Folks, It's that time of year again when special things are happening or are about to happen; Andy Murray has finally ended the 77 years of hurt, JoseMourinho is back at Chelski, SAF has finally retired and more important than all that of course is the fact that we've finally set a date for the next Bash! So dust off your brilliant basses, your amazing amps, your cacophonous cabs and all your weird / geeky bass FX, and bring it all down to the.. [b]South East Bass Bash No.7[/b] As ever, we've been so inspired by all the other totally brilliant Basschat Bashes that have been happening around the country that we want to see you all again, make a lot of noise, have a brilliant time and raise a few [b]£££s[/b] for good causes! [b]Charities:[/b] [u]We will donate all profits[/u] from the day to a worthy cause or two (details to be confirmed): [b]Refreshments[/b] will be available on the day for a small charge of course which will help increase the profits and keep everyone happy! Last year Hamster & Mrs Hamster did all the work on that and have offered to do so again, so many thanks in advance to them! [b]Workshops[/b] As ever, we are looking for offers from people to run workshops...so any ideas/requests are welcomed. [b]Please Help[/b] What would be really helpful from everyone who's interested in participating on the day is: 1. Donations of raffle prizes 2. Ideas/requests for the workshops 3. Hi Folks I recently bought this [b]Squier VMJ 5[/b] from gusgus to use in an acoustic-based music project, but that project isn't happening now, so I'm looking to move it on to pastures new where hopefully it'll get the use it deserves. As its says on the tin really, these basses do have that vintage modified look to them - a typical [b]70's vibe[/b] with a natural finish to the body, maple neck with block inlay design and the black pickguard & pick ups etc, etc - very funky looking!! It's strung with some very nice sounding [b]Labella deep-talkin' flats[/b] - which is why I bought it to be honest - and they really do give a lovely [b]Old Skool Motown [/b]sound; very smooth and deep sounding but still quite bright sounding for flats. Not only that, but these strings cost over [b]£40[/b] new for a 5 string set these days, which further underlines why i think £180 is a very fair price. .... Very good sounding Duncan designed pickups. Solid maple neck. Overall, this baby is very much on par with basses costing 2 to 3 times its price. The finish is very smooth and surprisingly even. And yes, it sounds like a Jazz bass! You can pretty much dial in any sound you want with the Duncan designed pickups. Good even response.   8. Hi Greg, That's a really nice bass - wish I had the spare funds for it right now... Mind you, having said that, I'm still happily using the Schecter Diamond P 5 that you sold me last year.   14. +1 Well, almost exactly a year later, Sam has just sold me that very same Boss OC-3 pedal. happy to report to one and all that everything went through really smoothly; good communications and everything as described.. As the man says: 'deal in confidence folks'. Thanks Sam!

  21. Wow! Sorry to see it hasn't worked out for you and that you're moving this on so quickly Et, but I'm sure the bass has benefitted a lot from you setting it up as you have done. I have to agree with you about the strings - as you said, I'd put some Elixirs on it before I sold it - but they didn't sit that well with the bass for me, nice strings as they are. It is quite a resonant bass as you said and I'm sure the D'Addario XL nickel-wounds sound great on it! I sometimes wonder about whether I actually prefer playing 4 or 5 string basses, and it can be really confusing switching between the two during gigs (as I do), but in the end, I've probably spent more time playing 5 string basses over the years than I have 4 strings, so that's where I've decided I feel most comfortable... However, you know what suits you best, so if you could pick up a four-string Roscoe Beck, that'd probably be perfect for you? Anyway, it's a fabulous bass and I'm sure it'll find a good new home very quickly and good luck with the sale.. All the best Nik
