Now SOLD - thanks for all the interest! Hi Folks I recently bought this Squier VMJ 5 from gusgus to use in an acoustic-based music project, but that project isn't happening now, so I'm looking to move it on to pastures new where hopefully it'll get the use it deserves. Here's a link to gusgus's for sale thread: http://basschat.co.u...38#entry2087338 As far as price goes, I'm looking for £180 for the bass (plus p&p) which is a little less than I paid for it, but I'm hanging on to the Snark tuner and Peavey lead that came with it. To put it into context, Sounds Live and GAK currently sell these for £310 new online, so I think it's a fair price for a bass that's in good condition (http://www.gak.co.uk...v-natural/50660 / http://www.soundsliv...CFUrJtAodtyIAVw). Aesthetically, the bass is in great condition, though there are a few little dings here and there.. As its says on the tin really, these basses do have that vintage modified look to them - a typical 70's vibe with a natural finish to the body, maple neck with block inlay design and the black pickguard & pick ups etc, etc - very funky looking!! Pictures: I've reached my upload limit here, so f you'd like any other pictures, please send me a PM with your email address.. It's strung with some very nice sounding Labella deep-talkin' flats - which is why I bought it to be honest - and they really do give a lovely Old Skool Motown sound; very smooth and deep sounding but still quite bright sounding for flats. Not only that, but these strings cost over £40 new for a 5 string set these days, which further underlines why i think £180 is a very fair price. .... There's some excellent reviews of these basses on You Tube that are worth checking out: And here's a written review I found online: "Overall, as I mentioned before, this is a fantastic bass right out of the box! You cannot go wrong with this one. Pick one up and it will quickly become one of your go to basses. Lets see, real block inlays and binding (not painted). Very decent "clover style" machine heads. Very good sounding Duncan designed pickups. Solid maple neck. Overall, this baby is very much on par with basses costing 2 to 3 times its price. The finish is very smooth and surprisingly even. And yes, it sounds like a Jazz bass! You can pretty much dial in any sound you want with the Duncan designed pickups. Good even response. I kid you not, this bass really feels and sounds like a much more expensive bass! Hands down amazing in the value category! As far as im concerned, it absolutely cannot be beat for the price. If you leave it alone (no mods) right out of the box, it definitely holds its own and packs a punch giving other basses a challenge. Swap out the pickups, like I did, for Seymour Duncan BassLines pickups, and you have a heavyweight contender!" (http://www.musicians...ric-bass-guitar) As with all the equipment I've sold here on Basschat, I'm very happy to ship it at buyers expense and will package it up very securely indeed, though I always recommend that you take out insurance when shipping, even though it costs a bit more..! Equally, I'm very happy if people want to come and try the bass out in person here in (very sunny) Littlehampton.. Tea, biscuits and sea-air all provided free of charge! If you've any questions, please send me a PM or ask away here. Thanks for looking. Nik

Hi Greg, That's a really nice bass - wish I had the spare funds for it right now... Mind you, having said that, I'm still happily using the Schecter Diamond P 5 that you sold me last year. Anyway, this one looks like a lovely bass and good luck with the sale! And just to say to other Basschatters here that Greg looks after his gear, so deal/buy with confidence! Nik

Wow! Sorry to see it hasn't worked out for you and that you're moving this on so quickly Et, but I'm sure the bass has benefitted a lot from you setting it up as you have done. I have to agree with you about the strings - as you said, I'd put some Elixirs on it before I sold it - but they didn't sit that well with the bass for me, nice strings as they are. It is quite a resonant bass as you said and I'm sure the D'Addario XL nickel-wounds sound great on it! I sometimes wonder about whether I actually prefer playing 4 or 5 string basses, and it can be really confusing switching between the two during gigs (as I do), but in the end, I've probably spent more time playing 5 string basses over the years than I have 4 strings, so that's where I've decided I feel most comfortable... However, you know what suits you best, so if you could pick up a four-string Roscoe Beck, that'd probably be perfect for you? Anyway, it's a fabulous bass and I'm sure it'll find a good new home very quickly and good luck with the sale.. All the best Nik

Price/Trade Value: £225 o.n.o. Hi Folks Here for sale is my SWR Triad 3-way bass speaker system ; it’s a fantastic sounding bass cab which is in 7/10 condition and is all original. Triad Spec:

4 Ohm, 400 watt, three-way speaker enclosure featuring (1) 15" speaker, (1) 10" speaker and a tweeter. Very accurate studio sound from SWR's only three-way enclosure.
Features Bottom Slot Port
Spring Loaded Rubber Grip Handles
High Quality Metal Input Panel with Heavy-Duty Attenuator
1/4" In/Out and SpeakonÆ Input Jacks
Horn Protection Circuit
Power output N/A
Impedance (Ohms) 4 Ohms at 1KHz
Height: 27", Width: 23", Depth: 18.5"
Power Handling 400 Watts RMS
History I bought this from Lee-Man here on Basschat about 5 years ago and it’s been the mainstay of my bass rig for gigs for 3 of those 5 years. I've used it at lots of gigs and whatever amp I’ve used it with, it's sounded great! It's one of the newer models, which you can tell from the silver grill on the front but I don't actually know how old it is. In use: Soundwise, with it’s combination of a 15” driver, a 10” driver and 5” horn, the Triad does it all for me without being too clinical or too hi-fi IMO. It really is a great sounding cab! As well as at gigs, it’s also been used at the South East Bass Bash Jam Rooms for the last 3 years and has worked brilliantly there too – used with a variety of amps and by a wide range of Basschatters. Two years ago, I remember Alex Claber (a.k.a. El Supremo at Barefaced) A/B-ing his Super 12T prototype against this cab, and Alex was pretty complimentary about the sound it makes, though it doesn't have the power handling of the Super 12T admittedly. Nevertheless, that was a very good endorsement from Alex I thought.. Over the last few years on Basschat, I've always commented on how good these cabs are whenever they come up for sale; and if it wasn't for the fact that I've just moved house and need to raise funds to buy a lightweight rig to make loading/unloading easier, I wouldn't be putting this up for sale at all. Photo Here’s a photo of the cab at the 2012 South East Bass Bash last September. As you'll see in the photo, this cab has a black gaffa tape 'cross' over the front grill, which I put there to stop the grill making a noise and rattling - I can take that off if that's preferred, but I personally found it sounded better with it on there (there's no religious connotations with the cross,I might add ) Anyway, please PM me if you'd like to see more pictures. Reviews etc Lots more info about the history and technical features of the Triad can be found here:

Bass Central info on here about half way down the page -http://www.basscentr.../swr_amps.shtml
Talkbass: http://www.talkbass....-cabinet/cat/28
Harmony Central: http://www.harmonyce...ad/td-p/1796745
And here's the link for the Manual: http://support.swram...0074459000a.pdf
But, having said all of the above about how good this cab is, I really do have to get a smaller and lighter weight rig now, so the Triad is ready to go... Collection/Delivery etc I think it goes without saying that I'd much rather this was collected in person, but I will ship it very securely packaged up necessary. I've checked with Interparcel and it is possible to ship this for about £20 which is quite reasonable I think.. Plenty of Basschat 'chat', tea/coffee and other beverages on offer to anyone who wants a trip to Littlehampton on the south coast in order to come and try out the cab first.. Price-wise, I think this is about right at £225 having looked at what other Triads have gone for lately on Evil Bay but if I'm way off, please drop me a line and we can discuss it.. Recently or just now, Mansons had one for sale at almost £400 here: http://www.mansons.c...-triad-cab-5470 Anyway, as ever, thanks for looking and if you've any questions, feel free to PM me or ask away here. Nik
