Fantastic basses, and quite hard to get hold of these days... I have the 5 string version and it's excellent. The build quality on Godin basses is exceptionally good, and the tonal versatility for a passive bass is second to none - in fact the P Bass sound on my 5 string is better than the P Bass sound I used to get from my Fender Roscoe Beck five string (and that's saying something) I imagine this model, with the maple fretboard, will be even punchier aounding than mine which has a rosewood board. GLWTS ππ

Mark, aka @MarkBuffaloStokes recently bought a bass and an amp from me, in what has turned out to be yet another great Basschat transaction. I say 'great' because it involved trust, respect and patience - the kind of qualities / virtues that almost never come into play when buying /selling bass gear outside of this Forum. Long and short of it is that, after a month or so of tooing and froing, Mark now has a super-cool Ricky 4003 clone in his possession, and a glorious sounding Handbox amp. And in term of leaving feedback, all that needs to be said is that Mark's an absolute credit to the Basschat community and a great guy to deal with! And as for having access to Basschat, so that we do these deals within a trusted and safe space, all I can say is that we're a very lucky bunch of musos. π Thanks for your patience Mark, and I hope you enjoy the new bass toys that Santa brought you! ππ Cheers, Nik

Beautiful bass, Keith! I had a play on it last year when I visited you to buy the Roland Bass Cube and it was fabulous 5 string to play; very comfortable and fast neck, excellent range of sounds/ tones and having that passive tone control and option is so helpful if, like me, you prefer that 'old-school' vibe. And on that point, the 'old-violin' finish is even better in the flesh, so to speak.... I know it's a bit of a Basschat cliche to say, but if I didn't have two 5 string basses already, this would be heading my way - especially at this price. π Anyway, Happy New Year to you Keith and best of luck with the sale! ππ Cheers, Nik

It Was 20 Years Ago Today ... Revisited
silverfoxnik replied to Happy Jack's topic in General Discussion
Great story, Jack, and Happy 20th Bass Birthday ! π»πΈπΆπ₯ It's almost a 'Happy Jack, Lord of the Strings - or there and back again' kind of epic tale... Just goes to show why - when it gets under your skin - music, playing bass and this place, can become so all-consuming and life changing. Ronaldo says he's going to retire when he gets to a 1000 career goals, but compared to your gigging ambitions Jack, he's clearly a bit of a lightweight!! π -

Agree with all the comments above; sad news, especially at Christmas time. RIP π And condolences to his family. IMO, he was very much one of the people, if that's not too trite a thing to say. We used to do this one in our set, which I always enjoyed...

You're very welcome, Andy! Well, there were definitely a few 'Moo-ers' in the Manger all those years ago... So don't be surprised if something magical happens when you plug your bass into the Radar for the first time... ππ Feedback left for you also, btw...

I bought one of these earlier this year here on Basschat, and I have to say that I've really been impressed with it! As a preamp, it's great; excellent e.q. with sweepable mids, a very good and blendable drive control, plus the amp/cab models too. I really haven't been able to fault it so far! And I've not even used the cool online features yet.. This YouTube review is pretty helpful, actually... Anyway, best of luck with the sale! ππ -
