Hi Mick, I'm sure there's a good number of people who are able to help Ally from within the close-knit bass community that Nick had around him, and it's great to hear that you and other Basschatters are supporting her with this... I'm not sure what I may or may not be able to help with, but if you need any extra support with anything, just let me know.

Very, very sad to hear this news.. π Such a talented musician with one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard in my life. Her performances and versions of 'Killing Me Softly' and 'First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' will never be equalled or bettered IMHO. RIP.

Just bought some DR Black Beauties off Mike, aka @alyctes. Great strings, very fair price, extremely well packed, excellent comms and a great Basschatter to deal with. Highly, highly recommend - and even more so after reading the fab post above! Mike exemplifies everything that is good about Basschat... ππ Thanks Mike and here's to the next time... ππ

Yep - sad news... Gone too soon. π Always liked The Jam ; much more than most of Weller's solo output. Buckler was a very good drummer and he formed a great bass/drums unit with Bruce Foxton, and a very powerful musical trio with Weller ... Personally, I can't agree with the sentiment that they carried Weller's songs, many of which are absolute classics and follow down that line of great British songwriters from Ray Davies, to Pete Townshend, right through to Blur etc, etc. The main thing for me is that, together, they were just a great young band that was definitely more than the sum of the parts.. I met him once in the late 80s.. He owned a studio in the Liverpool Road / Angel area of London IIRC, and he showed me and my band mates around the place as we were potentially going to use it. Seemed like a fairly decent bloke too.. RIP.

Just bought some Sadowsky strings from @IanA in what was a very straightforward and pleasant transaction... As such, I'm more than happy to highly recommended Ian to one and all here on Basschat! Thanks again Ian, and here's to the next one.. π Cheers Nik

Just bought a Nux wireless kit from @Lozz196 And, whilst I was there at Lozz196 Towers, I had a cheeky go on this very fine instrument: And, I've got to say - Wow! It really is a beautiful sounding/playing P Bass... πΆπΈπ It's nice and light in weight, but that in no way reduces the quality of the sound it makes... Tone-wise, you can go easily from that Motown thump to a Punky, Paul Simonon inspired growl with just a quick turn of the tone knob.. And, perhaps most important of all, it's so easy to play... It was just about all I could do to stop myself from making him an offer on it to be honest.. So, someone please buy it ASAP so I don't have to face up to that mega-temptation... π¬ππ

Just seen this news in my Google feed, which led me here. Oh my, what a shock! Such sad, sad news... π I last saw Nick in October when he came to my house to buy an amp.. He was here for about an hour and in great form as usual - full of bass/ music related stories and full of laughter! And, apart from him trying to persuade me to sell him my Jazz bass, I remember we talked about Nick starting up a podcast (which would have been amazing I think) . The tribute message by his sister is really moving, as has already been said, and so are everyone's stories about Nick in this thread. And whilst it's nothing like as tragic as losing a family member of course, I think the bass playing community has not only lost a genuinely lovely human being, fellow Basschater and seriously talented musician, but we've also lost someone with such a breadth and depth of knowledge about the family tree of UK bass players (if there is such a thing) and the development of the bass guitar in this country.. Such a loss. Sending my sincerest condolences to his family and friends. RIP Nick.

Just bought a Nux wireless kit from @Lozz196 It's a great piece of kit, in excellent condition and came at a very fair price, so I'm one very pleased Basschatter! As ever, it was great to meet up with Lozz, who I've had the pleasure of dealing with and meeting many times over the years here on the forum. He's an absolute gent, his comms are always great and so to is the conversation - which may or may not have included the words 'Fender' and 'Precision' in it..? π€ππ And on that point, whilst I was there at Lozz196 Towers, I had a cheeky go on this fine instrument: And, I've got to say - Wow! It was just about all I could do to stop myself from making him an offer on it! Anyway, thanks again Lozz and here's to the next one! ππ

Hi Folks, Just bought a rack case from Tomaso, who was very patient with me, as it took a while to get this deal done due to busy diaries and Christmas getting in the way. Anyway, thanks to a bit of help from my son (who makes for a very good courier), we got there in the end today I'm relieved to say... Tomaso was a pleasure to deal with throughout and the rack case is exactly as described. It goes without saying - but I'll say it anyway - Tomaso is a great bloke and a great Basschatter, so deal with him in absolute confidence, Folks. Thanks again Tomaso! ππ Nik

Yes, it makes it much easier to intonate the bass than the old bridge...
-
It's the Hipshot version of a Rickenbacker bridge, Paul...
-
And it still does @Paul S. Though it's got a new bridge now as you can see in these photos... It really does sound incredible too..
