Item now SOLD - thanks for looking! Hi Folks I have this very cool looking 'Jolana Diamant Bas' for sale and am looking for £125 o.n.o plus p&p. Here are some pics which are a bit blurred.. I'll try and do some better ones tomorrow! I bought it a year ago from dangerboy in order to indulge my 'Carol Kaye short-scale, flat-wound 60s bass' fantasy, but to be honest, it hasn't quite worked out as I'd planned as I'm using my BC Rich Eagle more and more these days! Anyway, when i got it, I had it strung with some La Bella short scale flats and got my local luthier (Graham Wheeler) to set it up properly. As can be seen in the photos, the red string wrapping extends over the nut into the first fret area, but it doesn't affect anything and has never bothered me when using it.. So it plays pretty nicely and everything works fine. The sound is good actually; neck pick up is very deep and warm - perfect for that Motown vibe - and the bridge pick up adds a little more edge to the sound. A combination of the two is quite 'Ricky' sounding surprisingly.. The output is very high by the way - it's as loud as the output from the Di Marzios on my BC Rich, and that's saying something! You can see dangerboy's original for sale thread here, which has a You Tube link on it: http://basschat.co.u...ale-from-czech/ Condition is quite good cosmetically and as I say, it looks very cool IMO... There's no case but I can ship it in a gig bag and will ensure it is very well packaged up! Alternatively, if you're near enough, please come and give it a try for yourself! Any questions, please ask away here or PM me. Thanks for looking, Nik
I used to have the 4 string version of this, years ago. I really wish I hadn't sold it! These are excellent basses, and very underrated.
+1 I had the five string version and it was a very good bass.. This one looks excellent - especially with the upgrades!

Eden Metro combo £450 ono PHOTOS ADDED
silverfoxnik replied to Bilbo's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
These are great combos IMO; possibly the best combo available over the last 10-15 years or so. I had one for a few years and really liked it; the 2-channel facility is really handy in gigging situations, especially is you use more than one bass during a gig (which I often did). The on-board features, such as the semi-parametric e.q. , 'enhance' control, compressor and tube stage input mean you can do just about anything with them sonically. The only exception perhaps is that more overdriven, gritty rock sound - which the Metro doesn't really do unless you put a pedal in front of it. And that's why I sold mine one in the end as the music I was playing required a change to a more rock-orientated sound.. Another good feature is that you can run this down to 2 ohms, so you can add more cabs as required! Anyway, that's my 2p worth, and just to say good luck with the sale! -

Hi Chris, Happy New Year and good luck with all the sales.. Hope everything is going well for you and the family over in Aberystwyth? Must say, I've always fancied one of those 1516's, but I know it'd be overkill in most of the clubs I play in, let alone my back, so I'll pass and let Gary take over West Sussex with his Boogie cabs! On another front, I know you're looking for an 'acousticy sounding acoustic' 6 string at the moment and last year, I bought a Faith Venus, which really fits the bill for me - much more organic and natural sounding than a Takamine or Ovation to my ears.. Might be worth you checking out?? All the best Nik -

Watched it last night and enjoyed the whole of Jool's annual NYE show... Having first watched Adam at The Marquee in January 1977 - when he was really very different to his 'Pirate' days and much grittier and more punky - last night brought to mind some of that early '70s spirit.. Especially as the last time I saw him live at The Scale in 2010, he was not really very together at all. As a long-time 'Ant fan', it was great to see him back on national TV, him doing a few of his well known tunes and a new one too, and still showing that 'ridicule is nothing to be scared of'..

Beautiful looking bass Greg! If i didn't already have a nice Schecter Diamond P5 that I got from you in the summer, I'd be looking at this with far more serious intent ! Not that i need any more basses mind what with my RBV as well.. Just to say that Greg's a great person to deal with by the way folks, and a really talented player who knows his stuff and looks after his instruments, so deal with / buy from him in confidence.. BC's new classifieds section - your opinions please
It's important that we get the BIG things right. Realistically there are VERY few problems on the sales forums as long as users check the T&Cs, and it's that loose vibe that makes it a natural extension of the forum. We're looking at implementing the subscription fee, one off fee and free listings section asap, so we'll probably hide the new classifieds section soon as to ease confusion. The transition has been a bit messy, but when we're working full time on top of this it's not going to be 100% smooth! As it stands I'm meeting bank people next week to set up a card payment system so those of you who don't use Paypal can use that (though you can also use a card through our paypal as it's a business version). So things are moving on. Thanks for all the detailed replies, it's given us a lot to discuss in terms of additional support as we go on with (hopefully) some cash to throw as the site. ped
Thanks ped - good to see things developing.. -
Unique, eccentric, knowledgeable legend, very sad he's gone. RIP Sir Patrick Moore
+1 Very sad news but I do hope the SAN continues in some form or other.

BC's new classifieds section - your opinions please
If Ped & Kiwi are not making a profit from running Basschat, then they bloody should be. That is not intended to be in any way humorous or sarcastic, I am being deadly serious. I like the idea of a future in which Basschat continues to exist, in much its current form, for a very long time. The best guarantee of that is if we can find a way to make this a more rewarding experience for them. I am constantly amazed at the number of posts right across this forum that assume that we all have a God-given right to enjoy Basschat for nowt. Single annual fee works best for me.
Agree with all of that Jack where the future of Basschat is concerned.. But equally...
So do we all like the sound of a single payment for a one off advert and the option of a single yearly payment? Of course - I suggested it yesterday morning in the other thread!
+1 to this idea as well! IMO, it's great to be included in the discussion around what's best for BC.. Where else do you get that kind of involvement? -
At this point in time, I still don't feel comfortable with the Classifieds section (yet) but think that Ped and all the BC team need to be supported through the process, while they try to get it right... with of course, constructive feedback from all of us who use the site regularly. It can't be easy to develop the site into a sustainable business that also retains it's sense of community (something we all value highly), especially when funds are clearly very tight. In terms of my own contribution, personally, I 'd be happy to pay an annual membership fee. Equally, I think some kind of charging system in the Classifieds section is fair, particularly if it's puts some kind of brake on those people who join the Forum just to sell something and then never contribute anything else to Basschat as a whole. My only proviso would be that, whatever format the Marketplace or Classifieds section ultimately takes, it should if possible retain / provide the ability for Basschatters to participate and generate in comment and discussion; it is a very valuable resource and one I've always looked to when buying/selling.. Anyway, isn't that why this place was called 'Basschat' in the first place!
